This is Corey "Mr Safety" for those who don't know. He was really big back in the olden days of YouTube. I still love this man very much. Rest in peace, Sparta. Well miss you.

Long story short post-mean kitty: got another cat named loki. Did some tours with various vloggers. Around 2014 moved to Alaska with his now wife. They now live in Tulsa, OK with their kids. I haven't watched his stuff in years so I'm very much behind on anything new.

LOKI! I couldn't remember the white cats name. Apparently he's been doing some game development in Unreal Engine, but it's been a while since I've seen anything. I'll poke my head into his channel and see what's up.

The ice is like the head of a drum filled with water.

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Fun fact from the earlier days of the internet: this is the same guy who did the "Mean Kitty" song with his Cat Sparta https://youtu.be/Qit3ALTelOo?si=bG60vT1Rib_BKuLs

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I mean, is it skipping? Or just tossing across ice?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Reverberate. Has nothing to do with skipping. We threw ice blocks on a frozen pond and got that sound.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Awww Cory! I miss watching his stuff... Life was simpler back then... He will always be Me Safety for me

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As someone who ice fishes, ice makes a LOT of crazy sounds.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Every time I see this shared, I go listen to his mean kitty song: https://youtu.be/Qit3ALTelOo

2 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 2

I thought he looked familiar!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Man, I just found out Sparta passed away 4 years ago already. I knew he'd be really old, but still a gut punch :(

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

For some reason I thought this was going to be a song from the 90s metal band, Kittie.

Nature rocks! This is your reminder to put the phone down and go outside folks

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Fake he didn’t even film the skips

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Icy lakes with just a sheet of ice on top do this all the time. If you live in a relatively cold climate you've probably done this.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Icy

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Body of water? Find rocks. If they're flat and round find the flattest smoothest you can and skip them. If they aren't flat or round, just find the biggest ones.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is this the same guy that thought there was a gaping hole in the road, but it was actually just water?

Nope, that's just how thin ice sounds.

And thick (I speak from ice fishing experience)

Unmute. You really have to unmute this one, and it's actually great.

2 years ago | Likes 810 Dislikes 4

Do not unmute! It's some kinda trap techno sounds with some Canadian voiceover, music today is shit /s

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ty, I didn't get it at first, couldn't see the rock

2 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 1

Fun fact for fans of older youtube like myself! This is the same dude that did "The Mean Kitty Song" waaaay back when~

I’ve skipped rocks on frozen lakes like this before and can confirm this sounds absolutely incredible and super satisfying

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How many people just go through Imgur with everything on mute? Not judging to be clear, I'm curious. Cause fair that like 20% of things have crappy music but like 60% of things are improved by sound so unless you're on mobile with no earbuds then just... why? And if the former, then why at all? Is Imgur a good mobile experience, I only ever hear complaints?

2 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 3

In my case, I leave it muted because it REALLY likes defaulting to max volume. If I see something has sound, I'll unmute on low. From what I've seen of the complaint comments, a lot just really dislike sound in general, even when original.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I don't use headphones on my phone, so if I'm in public everything is muted unless I need to hear something.

2 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

I usually do at night before sleep — I just happened to have headphones on tonight :)

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

90% crappy music. I always mute.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I was so irritated at the completely out of touch music, I ripped the video and redid the audio by hand.
(I was tired, hungry and over caffeinated)

Reposting b/c the previous audio was inappropriate. /gallery/eRDYU4k

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's a time wasting experience. And 20%? You're either crazy or missing things. It's at least half that have shitty music

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I mute everything by default on my desktop and phone both. Except like youtube or spotify, but other than that there's usually going to be more than one thing open anyway so I don't want 2 or 3 sounds going at once.

2 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

I have the same, but just pause my YT when I tab over to Imgur. Not gaining much from YT when I'm doom scrolling but I use YT for info/news so might be different for people who just use it for music or background noise.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Because some people don't use the app. I use Imgur on a browser, and the videos are always muted by default.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Same, but it's one click to add value (though there should be a setting to unmute by default if that's what you're saying, not that I would want that because, bleugh music is a plague)

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I default to mute. I only check the sound if I don't understand the video (like this one), if I really love the video and want to see what the sound is, if it's obvious, if someone tells me to, or if I'm showing it to my partner (in which case it must be 10/10) and she insists.

So seldom is the sound good in any other cases, and I prefer to hear what's going on around me because sometimes it's important.

2 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

Same. I also often favourite cute/interesting things that I've not even unmuted yet by myself to show my partner (if someone in the comments have said "do unmute" or similar). I very seldom unmute, it has to be very unusual, interesting or hella cute to for me to take the effort.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Always mute. I have no life energy to waste on audio. I unmute maybe 1 out of 100? Maybe less.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Unfortunately so many posts that has sound is crappy music instead of the original audio of the clip.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Too true, it's a damn plague from TikTok and Reddit.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I keep imgur on mute all the time. Things only make a noise when *I* want it to make a noise

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The audio is rarely ever worth listening to. This is an image sharing site. If I wanted to watch videos with sound I’d go on YouTube.
It’s fine with short clips like this that have the source audio, but they should at least have subtitles. But when I unmute and the audio is just some random music… why? Why does anyone want that? I’ve already got my own random music playing. This isn’t YTMND. You don’t have to add sound.

I Imgur at night to fave fun stuff for my kid - and don't want to wake my SO.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I had to walk around a big pond on my way to grade school. I kinda feel sorry for people who didn't grow up on the edge of farmland. I pretty much wore my arm out doing this shit when I was 5.

2 years ago | Likes 275 Dislikes 8

We did it at the river, often using the clay silt that dried on the riverbanks.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I lived 20 minutes from the beach on either coast at different times in my life and told myself I had to live near water or I'll hate my life. I now have a massive lake in my backyard and I love my life. I could really use a bucket of rocks though.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Did it go pew pew pew?

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I-beam supports on top of gas station canopies sometimes do this. Its really neat.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Only if things were right. Any snow on top ruined it. Especially wet snow, which would then freeze solid into a lumpy mess.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I never lived more than 20 minutes away from the downtown of my 2 million inhabitant city and sometimes feel sorry for people who didn't get to grow up in a proper city and have access to the diversity of experience, culture, food and people. We were all forged by our environment. Just as I'm sure you wouldn't want to have grown up in a city I wouldn't want to have grown up on the edge of farmland

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I kinda got both, I preferred the farmland experience.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I do love getting out of the city though. As a kid I spent 2 months every summer deep in the Laurentians camping, canoe camping and spending days in the forest.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Brother, I'm surrounded by farmland. The nearest body of water is an hour drive away. Unless you count the aquifer, but you can't skip rocks on that.

2 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

I used to sneak out at midnight to shovel the fresh snow off our only decent hockey pond so it wouldn't get soft in the noonday sun while we were in school the next day & re-freeze as we ate dinner, ruining the ice for skating until next year. It was four backyards, a half-mile through the woods then cross the barbed wire & a quarter mile of pastureland, usually in deep snow to access. We're talkin' dedication, baby. The pond I referenced earlier was not available for skating. Owner's rules.
