This is Walter. He was rescued from a public dog shelter in Romania (google provided me with some of the most upsetting pictures I have seen in my life). Here he is as he arrived at the shelter of the charity that saved him from the public shelter and sent him for a new life in the UK.
Getting a once over by a vet in Romania.
First picture I saw of Walt. Such sad eyes and looked so small.
Walter' first day with us, sizing up the smaller human.
I love his little wonky legs
Won't lay on me, but always right next to me.
So good with his sisters Georgie & Diego
First time at the beach - ride home after 3 hours running free like a mad man
Life changed when his little brother showed up. He had obviously had a lot of negative experience with other dogs, but Angus has brought him a new found friendship.
Little feet
Such a happy boy
Edit: wow woke up and walts face was ok FP - thanks guys for all the love. Walter is here having a cuddle in bed with me (he shouldn't be in the bed - but I'm not going to argue!) Saw a few questions that were the same in comments so -
1. No idea about his legs - we were told ahead of getting him he was a sausage dog and when he was put in my lap he has the torso of a regular dog. We've been told he has dwarfism, he was a cross breed with a sausage dog, cramped conditions etc. Will never know for sure. He runs like a bolt of lightning even if he does run funny. And his legs are powerful. He drags me down the road more than our German shepherd. Vets can't do anything now as after a few months it's pointless. He will at some point likely start tripping frequently or be unable to jump up.
2. Yes we have a female cat called Diego. That's hubby's fault. We got two kittens so young and didn't know the sex. Named them after George Best & Diego Maradona - when we found out they were female a short while later he refused to rename them, except George became Georgie.
3. Romanian dog shelters are awful, I wasn't sure how much of his lovely soul would be left when we got him. He was terribly territorial about food, his bed, his things, and would panic if woken up quickly. We worked to make him feel safe and secure and he very quickly learned no harm would come to him here. I sometimes get hate for not adopting from our country, but I tell people to see how dogs live there and ask them to look up adoption rates there.
4. I needed Walter as much as he needed me, he saved me.

Part doxie I think!

Good work Op! Thank you for saving Walter.

It breaks my heart when these gorgeous animals look so sad but seeing things turn around is amazing

Yay, my name is Walter!!
IshitOnWindshields
Good puppy
Wimdy
He's so cute! His ears look so soft. Are his legs like that because of his breed-mix or because of the conditions of the shelter?
Individualsocksinthewashingmachine
It'll be the breed, looks like a bassett mix. Forelegs curving like that are not unusual
Wimdy
Thank you for the reply.

Walter found his guardian angel xxxx

Part of me wants to know the story of his wonky legs and another part of me predicts it will be too sad to want to hear :(
tacoperrito
Unsure? Could be to do with breed, dwarfism or conditions he was in. Will never know. Vets can't do anything, he runs like a mad man though!
Angrynortherner
We got our bron from Serbia. His mum was a street dog who was pregnant and he was one of the puppies. He's a little shit but we love him.
dicksnbutts
He’s not dead!! Hooray!!
tacoperrito
My thoughts exactly!

Your a good person.
vaspap
And I'm a bad person. You're*
Maybeinanotherdimension
Lol, I love that. I rely on autocorrect, and delete "your" out of it, but it creeps back in. I type "youre" and for a while it works.
Maybeinanotherdimension
I know the difference. XD

i also have 2 dogs from a shelter in Romania. I adopted the 1st one on 12/2015 et the 2nd one on 01/2017. I'm glad i saved their life.
DoooogFooooort
He looks a lot like my dog... Common mix?
tacoperrito
No idea what he is sadly. Hard to tell as he looks a little of everything.
duo90
Sister named Diego? Y’all suck at naming your cats
tacoperrito
Hubby's fault. Named pets before he knew gender. She has "the paw of god" named after Diego Maradona.
MissLadyPants
What a sweet little guy!
itzujones1
Looks like he found a forever home!
DoctorGiz
Beautiful dog! Mine looks similar, but lacks pigment. Any idea what type yours is? Cheers to a wonderful life with him!
tacoperrito
Not sure of breed. Looks like giant sausage dog. His face looks like a short hair we had. "Doxador" was suggested
Ninjaviolinist
I just looked up Romanian Public Dog Shelters because of this. Just... what the actual fuck?
tacoperrito
They're awful. The charities that go and save dogs from the shelters are amazing. Must be soul destroying going to a shelter like that.
xxxwoolf1979
Yeah, dude. We know... But we re fightin to make them better. You cant believe what we re against. People are fucked up fo real.
ILIKEWHALES
I'm in Romania at the moment, picked 4 puppies off the street. Saw a dead one yesterday. This place is horrible.
