What you guys don’t know is this type of monetization is completely normal in China. It’s a pay-to-win environment there.

After ruining Madden, Mass Effect, and now buying Respawn... I think EA is out to ruin the entire industry.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You forgot sim city.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I may have an idea about the power.

8 years ago | Likes 72 Dislikes 0

Any chance that’s an idea about the power Ball?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

3, 16, 29, 34, 41... if you win, throw me a few bones.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's a game. Play it.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Seems like this while argument happened after the first one too, but people just keep going back

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

They didn't get this much publicity the first time. At least then it was about no story.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Spawns were garbage too

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I imagine the people who buy it don't play video games much (like the 1 guy who only plays FIFA, parents, kids) and are not too concerned

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I thought it was a brag to play for days straight? 40 hours would be a lot for me but I'm also not a 12 yr old banging your mom.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I by no means like EA, but only 40 hours? Not that long... I guess maybe Runescape has ruined me a bit though

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 13

Yea its not a click amd walk away. Its grinding for credits to buy loot boxes that might have scrap to craft what you want.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

So let me get this right... Spending months grinding for Prestige levels in CoD is fine, but 40 hours for a character = outrage?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

It's not really equivalent as prestige levels. It more like kill streaks. Imagine having to grind 30 hours just to unlock the uav drone 1/

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Then having to grind 30 more for the care package and this goes on for every killstreak. Or you could pay to unlock them quickly

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's just a scummy practice and deserves the shit it gets

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think you have the option to just buy whatever you want, is why people are mad. I could be wrong

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Idk, he was kinda terrifying in Rogue One.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The point of this event is to jerk off the person on your left, please don't ruin chain sir, we've discussed this.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wait... so you mean it's just like how games used to be? You unlock content as you play? That does make me angry!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Not anymore, Dice fixed that shit.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 6

By reducing the amount of player credit you get each time you play....so the numbers still are roughly the same anyway.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

No. They only reduced the campaign reward. It was meant to let you get the protagonist and her price was dropped so the reward was too.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yes but the outrageous price gouging for actually getting a hero is still astronomical.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I dont think its outrageous at all. Top tier takes like 10 hours, mod tier like 5, and low tier like 3-4. Thats not much at all.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Price gouging as in the micro transactions are still the same price. The progression system is definitely better.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

40 hours? Grind? Never thought I'd say this but... Filthy casuals

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

This is all just too ridiculous to me considering it's a very common complaint that games cater too much to casuals these days.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Now they want their games as casual as possible, bunch of fucking morons.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I wouldn't dare playing anything other than single player games with kids on my charge. The game is definitely not targeted for 40yolds.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

People are older now with kids and jobs. 40 hours isn't what it used to be specially for a feature that was previously free.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm not one to ask for regulation, but I really hope EA finally pushes this too far and brings down gambling regulations on their heads.

8 years ago | Likes 97 Dislikes 3

If DraftKings hasn't yet EA will never have this happen

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Sounds great, won't happen

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Holy shit you're right. Microtransactions SHOULD have gambling regs applied.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The ESRB stated that lootboxes weren't gambling essentially because you are guaranteed to win something, which is pretty nonsense, but add 1

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

The fact the ESRB is owned by games publishers and you begin to see just how fkn shady the whole thing really is

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

The ESRB is definitely biased in this case, but I'd prefer ESRB regulation over govt.-style censorship rules (a la China, Australia, etc)

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Just curious, what do you think we have in Australia? There was a painful era when they wouldn't give us an effective R18+ rating so just 1

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean, don't you have government regulated ratings for movies..? Most places do. It's really no different for games here, now we have R. /3

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

banned things that would have been R18+ instead, but that seems to be over. That was the usual "games are toys for kids" attitude.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dude, he is absolutely underwhelming. Mary Sue Rey on the other hand, completely OP.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Funny enough all twitch streamers I saw call Rey an underpowered useless piece of shit, and Vader incredibly OP, Haven't tried myself yet

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There's a card for her that makes her mind trick last longer if you use Insight. Mind Trick basically screws whoever gets caught in it.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

History repeats itself. Remember the first battlefront? Don't complain.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Back in my day we WALKED 15 miles through a desert for a chance at a good drop! None of these flying mounts dagnabbit and fancy boxes...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Benadryl cucumberstash

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

I've had some people arguing with me that it can be done in 10 with poor play. Can someone source me for future arguments?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lootboxes and DLC are by no means new, but companies have been pushing for years. It's an abusive relationship with customers.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"maybe they'll change!" idiots say, buying day 1 DLC and progressively shorter games for full price.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 5

Just be glad that people ARE realising it.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's too bad ignorant parents will still buy this game for their kids

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

How else are people going to hear about their mothers easy virtue

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Lol, 40 hour 'grind', fucking scrubs.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

The "grind" would not be an issue if the game was not 80$. If i pay that much give me 2-4 hours per unlock.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Sorry that some of us work full time and have more than just 1 hobby/ priority

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Why can't we just have reskins of BF3? That game left nothing for me, personally to be desired. Progression was packed with equipment

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wait, is he unlockable later in the game or just honestly needs money to unlock? If it's the former I guess it's not that bad...?

8 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 10

You can either spend the 40+ hours on unlocking them or straight pay for them, thus getting ahead in matches with people who dont have it.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You can unlock him by grinding for days or just pay cash.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I got him after an 3 hours or so I honestly don’t know where 40 has come from

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don't forget your character progression is tied to random loot box drops that you can either grind for or buy outright

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You get rewarded crystals at the end of battles, getting 60k would have taken about 40 hours, or $12 to buy enough.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

To unlock all the characters would take over 4000 hours.

8 years ago | Likes 77 Dislikes 11

Looking at time spent on skyrim... Would have unlocked them twice...

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

No they have moved reduced the time to 10 - 15 hours now but also slashed the amount of credits you get after a match. Fuck EA

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Somebody worked it out as 8 hour per day every day for 1 year 7 months to get enough to unlock them all.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Between this "fact" and someone else yesterday spreading the idea you can't play online without extra characters, you guys need to cite 1/

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

As I understand it, if you attempt to play but all of your unlocked characters get picked by others, you can't play. True/False?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2/ your sources. This whole thing is awful enough without people blowing parts of it out of proportion. 2 characters take 40 hours to grind-

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

3/ others take less. Yes it's a horrible system, but how does anyone get "4000 hours" from that?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I don't think that's a bad thing. That way, nobody will have all of the characters, and they will be more valuable. I don't understand how..

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 9

...people expect to have everything in the game right from the start, or even access to everything right from the start. I can't think of ..

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 8

...an mmo that doesn't take 40 hours to get end game items. Has ever body really been paying for every damn microtransaction so that they...

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 8

I get what you’re saying, and I do believe there should be an unlock requirement, but not in the way they have now, something skill based. 1

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

...don't even have to play the game anymore?

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 5

There's 100 characters? People have been saying 40 per hero

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

That's a little overboard, but I reckon it's so somewhat acceptable; I think the "4000 hours" thing is taken out of context.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

the 4000 hours estimate is for unlocking/leveling up everything in the game.

8 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 1

'Tis what I've heard, I know it's what TotalBiscuit said. I could be wrong, however.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

If that's the case then EA deserves the hate but they can't be that dumb, can they?

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 2

Oh, honey.

8 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

https://youtu.be/HJdarN8u2BE here's a good video detailing this crap

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thanks. That is a douche move. People were given an illusion that they can achieve it all through dedication when it's honestly impossible.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's not impossible though. Seems like really near sighted design. Or dice had to push mjctrotransactioms by EA.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I would rather stick my hand up a cows ass then give EA my money.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Are you sure thats the right order of things? The Cows ass DLC is $20.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Let me explain.. First, the internet was created.....

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As previously stated.. "You underestimate the power of the dark side."

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Well, I pre-bought the $80 version. If that doesn't get me everything in the game EA loses a customer for life. Period. Worth it , EA?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You get everything in the game, you just have to unlock it.

8 years ago | Likes 0 Dislikes 0

You have to play to unlock certain gear just like literally any other shooter (cod + battlefield) there's just an option to pay to skip that

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes, because you still gave them $80, and based on your comment, you'll probably cough up more.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Nah, just told my wife - cancelling pre-order at gamestop and getting my son a switch game and one for 3DS (X-mas) - Fuck you, EA. Done.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

What's wrong with "grinding it out"? Isn't that the point of games replay value? Nintendo was hard on purpose for people to replay until won

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 12

Penalizes you for playing the objective and winning the game quickly.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Personally I think the issue is that the points you receive are based on time played as opposed to score. The point system actually 1)

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

They changed that. Check EA site patchnotes. Match rewards are based on kills and objective score now.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not the same really. Imagine playing an online round for 250 points, then repeating it over and over to accumulate 60,000 points.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

40h? those are rookie numbers. I play f2p in Dokkan Battle and KH Union X.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 6

4000 hours or ~1/2 a year of continuous play to unlock everything. that is definitely not rookie numbers to fully complete a game.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

god bless it, i got a family ffs! XD

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So you pretty much have to play all 24 hours if you wanna hit the deadline?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

wait, what deadline?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh no! A 40 hour grind. How am I ever going to play that much, its not like I have multiple steam games sitting near or over 1000 hours.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 16

I don't think you get what's going on if you think that's the only issue.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yeah and who care about $80 for the game, then paying an extra $30 for each unlock? I have millions in the bank!

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

You don't have to buy the $80 version and you don't have to pay for upgrades. You can buy the cheapest version and grind out your upgrades.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes, you can spend the money to buy an "advantage" aka an upgrade but welcome to real life. The same is true in the real world.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The whole point of this EA scandal was that it takes too long to grind, essentially forcing casual gamers to pay extra for the unlockables.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0
