The Guardians Of The Frickin’ Galaxy

Aug 10, 2017 7:13 PM

Gather round, boys, girls, and giraffes. We’d like to tell you a story full of action, adventure, and a bug lady too ugly to be romanced (according to Drax). It’s the story of how heroes are made and a blue-skinned alien dude becomes a female British nanny.

That’s right, it’s Marvel Studios’ Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2, available on Digital August 8, Blu-ray August 22, and New to 4K UHD. Before you rush out to your local Blockbuster for a copy, here’s a few behind the scenes tidbits.

Ever wonder how the cast acted alongside a 10-inch tall CGI baby tree? Well, Groot was there in real life. Sort of. The crew used a stand-in maquette to give the actors something to interact with. No word if Fake Baby Groot received real life snuggles.

When you watch a Guardians film, the music is meant to move you. It moves the actors too. The instrumental score by Tyler Bates and classic rock soundtrack are played aloud or via ear pieces during filming. “Sometimes it allows an actor to go farther, be broader, be more intense,” says James Gunn.

Baby Groot tax! Aww, who’s our favorite little plant with a somewhat limited vocabulary? You are, Groot. Marvel Studios’ Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2 is available on Digital August 8, Blu-ray August 22, and New to 4K UHD.

So new Guardians has Andorians in it? Cool, where's Commander Shran?

Yes. I'll take 20 and not complain though

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

He may have been your father, but he ain't your daddy.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I just want to see all the actors talking to that little groot doll.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm surprised that marvel is advertising on Imgur

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Don't need to say it twice Marvel! Already got my moolah prepared to run to target and buy it Blu-ray on release!

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

But they taunt you with digital first to get you to spend even more moolah. I usually pre-order on Amazon, but it isn't an option this time.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I typically skip any of the promoted posts. I find myself reading and watching all of this one.

9 years ago | Likes 178 Dislikes 7

I know! Fuck me, right?

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Me too but there's no way they can make me love this movie more than I already do.

This video also added Dave Bautista (Drax) to my list of "Actors I Can Recognize By Their Breasts"......... it's a short list.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

What in the actual fuck?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Not only is this ad short, and informative, it also has baby groot gifs!

Drax is so awesome in this movie

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I find promoted posts sooo interesting. Just to see how deeply advertiser research Imgur to try and get it right - usually so over the top ?

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I heard on Imgur they pay the site staff to make the ad for them.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The first one was good, the second one was....not good,,,not good at all. I kept checking my watch to see when it would be over.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I find that to often be the case. My friend saw it and was not pleased either.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just in time for my bday on the 25th. Appreciate it

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh the groot-tality...

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Execpt he didn't say frickin'

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Did the pacing of this movie feel off to anyone else. The runetime felt too long and underwhelming

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The "runetime".... Did I miss something? I didn't see any runes?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Honestly, it was pretty predictable and boring. There is entertainment in it, but the underlying story was just terrible.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll kiss twenty bucks goodbye!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Definitely, I think they tried to complete too many characters' emotional arcs. It was like the drama was cranked up all the way and static

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why isn't it on Netflix, Marvel? We had a good thing going.

9 years ago | Likes 1067 Dislikes 7

THIS is in my top 3 things I don't give a shit about. Fuck Disney.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 14

You should. Companies are realizing how untapped that market is. Many more companies will follow. Can't wait to c what Netflix does.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Fewer places with more content would be far better than more with less

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

it'll be on Netflix roughly in early-mid December based on their scheduling. it's roughly seven months after theatrical release.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It will be by Christmas. Just like Civil War

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

7 months, so we'll see it in like December

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Does Disney own Marvel. If so, that's why...

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Follow up, I just saw that other comment.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I'm drunk.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

No you're dumb

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I followed this thread all the way down; not disappointed!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If I remember marvel and Netflix's deal was 6 months later. I don't think it's been more then 6 months

9 years ago | Likes 50 Dislikes 1

than*

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 6

There's usually a delay between a film's DVD release and when it comes to Netflix.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Maybe because it's not fully released yet?

9 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

They don't have every Disney and marvel movie ever on there, they rotate. Dr strange is on there now.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Try Show Box...

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Because if all the good movies were on netflix, I'd have no idea what to buy my friends for christmas and birthdays!

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

A netflix account.

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

they already have netflix, otherwise I could just buy them the movies independent of them being on netflix.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Double netflix account.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Netflix credit so they can have free Netflix for a few months

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Marvel is owned by Disney and Disney is starting their own streaming service.

9 years ago | Likes 524 Dislikes 9

They said Marvel will stay on Netflix, even though they are Disney owned.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

OH FUCK THAT! JESUS! YOU'RE RIGHT! FUCK!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

...which I can't afford. Yaaay.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I want to down vote you for delivering terrible news. But I can't . . . +1 for honesty

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

dammit.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That I'm not paying for. I'm not going to have a 100 diff streaming services

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do we know what will happen with the defenders series?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not until 2019. Disney still had their contact with netflix until then

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

True, but irrelevant. For the time being they're still operating under the old contract.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Marvel is a different story. They may stay on Netflix as there are marvel Netflix originals

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

That would actually be well worth $10 a month

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 29

Atm, it's only movies they're pulling from Netflix, and they can't do the Netflix original shows like iron fist, so what's worth $10/month?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We spent $65 for 3 of us to see 1 movie!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, almost the cost of a movie ticket... Paid monthly... To watch maybe 4 yearly releases. Totally worth.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

That's $120/year to see the Disney movies that came out that year. Last year, Disney released 13 movies. Assuming you want to see half of >

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

those, you could get adult tickets for six movies at about $78 (based on the current price of Spider-Man tickets, via Fandango). You'd >

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

save $42/year, AND get to see all those movies in the theater. Netflix and other streaming services offer a huge selection of shows and >

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Fuck that. Pirate Bay

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

By 2018 right? Or the year after?

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Isnt star wars disney too and rogue one was recently put on netflix, i was surprised this wasnt on there when doc strange and civil war were

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Rogue one is Lucas Film. Disney ONLY owns Star Wars Franchise. Georgie still owns rights to spin-offs

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 10

No no no no

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

keep saying No, maybe it'll make disney give it back!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

This is not true. "The Walt Disney Company acquired Lucasfilm in 2012 at a valuation of $4.06 billion"

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Well, I *was* gonna buy the BluRays for everything... *shrug* Oh I'm not paying them anything now, I'ma torrent that shit now.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

How DARE they make their own service to distribute their own property. Those fuckers. This is why I only buy from walmart.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

They literally had just signed a contract with netflix saying they'd stream their shit, now they decide to make their own service.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There's already a perfectly good, valid and vastly influential service in place that does all the legwork for them and pays for distro rites

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's a cash grab and trying to monopolize the market. Same as the VHS limited distribution years ago. Artificially inflating the value.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

And the pirate bay gets even more traffic because of how many different streaming sites there will be.

9 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 1

Then hopefully it'll reach a steady equilibrium

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Pirate Bay will be the first thing they throttle with the anti-net neutrality bills. This bill will be less about speeding things up and 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

more about slowing things they don't want you to be able to access. 2/2

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

oh my god I haven't even thought of this yet

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ugh everyone is doing their own streaming thing. Next thing you know people will be paying $60 a month divided between 6 different sights!

9 years ago | Likes 305 Dislikes 5

Disney doesn't own marvel as a whole. Disney only owns certain characters one of them being guardians of the galaxy

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

Disney DOES own 'Marvel' as a whole. However the film rights for many characters were sold to other companies before the acquisition.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Already do

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

As has been said before, they reason why Netflix made a fucking killing is because it made convenience the number 1 thing.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, but you'll buy the channels you want unlike cable tv

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That is the plan.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or nothing and just pirate it all. It'll be an interesting experiment yes?

Personally, I found HBO's streaming service to be a hot, steaming pile of garbage, constantly buffering and even videos failing to play.
