I remember years ago I asked canadian imgur users here what would be the reaction to a sudden, drastic increase in asylum requests from the USA, or just a sudden massive presence of americans at the border. This was dismissed in a number of ways "we dont want you" "it will never happen" and any number of other responses.

The problem is that, legally, the US is considered a "safe country" when it comes to things like asylum claims, even though that may no longer be the truth.

The overarching goal is wealth consolidation and privatization, but the things Trump is doing to the US would not work out in Canada.
Frankly, we're already so heavily monopolized, the only thing on the list that they need to do here is the deregulation, and as much as that sucks, it wouldn't really be permanent damage to the country.
The one thing they will probably do that'll be permanent damage is killing the CBC, and selling off crown corps like Canada Post.

Most of us would love to, but we don't live anywhere near there. I, for instance, live two mountain ranges away. If it was as simple as a two hour bus ride, I'd be in front of the white house with a sign every day after work. It's not as simple as Europeans are making it out to be. Most of us can't access the capital without spending several hundred dollars on travel and taking time off. By all means, those that can, should be, but all the rest of us can do is yell at our senators.

The NHS is amazing when it comes to immediate care for life-threatening illnesses. However, afaik care that just focusses on improving quality of life can have long wait times and be a bit lackluster. The whole thing has been picked away at by conservative governments and predatory medical companies. It's still a fantastic service with good people working for it that serves and saves millions of people a year, but our politicians don't seem to value it nearly enough.

Asterisk: There isn't a "British" NHS, the NHS is actually four separate organisations. (One for each of the countries in the UK) Although they're affected by similar factors, they have completely separate management, and issues affecting one of them don't necessarily affect all of them, or may affect them in different ways.
