Well, maybe not you and other Americans like you, but I get angry and say inconsiderate bullshit, especially after the orange turd's remarks about military force to take Greenland. We're your allies, wtf.
I remember years ago I asked canadian imgur users here what would be the reaction to a sudden, drastic increase in asylum requests from the USA, or just a sudden massive presence of americans at the border. This was dismissed in a number of ways "we dont want you" "it will never happen" and any number of other responses.
The problem is that, legally, the US is considered a "safe country" when it comes to things like asylum claims, even though that may no longer be the truth.
the ausie’s aren’t bad either. Huge help re: the covid vax. Everything in the US was either conspiracy theories or pages claiming “It is 100% absolutely safe with no aide effects at all, trust us fam.” which is as obvious a lie as that it has 5G trackers. the Ausie ntl health page actually had real info, including the rates for myocarditis/pericarditis. (very low, at the time something like 2/1,000,000 for my demographic for Pfizer and 8/1,000,000 for the other one). Great info for real>
facts, *showing* it’s safe (and the risks to watch out for after getting it), and that for my demo, pfizer was the safer option. Actual real info instead of “nah trust us bro, you don’t need to worry your pretty little head” or “Its them damn -insert group- here folks trying to infect you with 5G so that they can -insert evil plan here-“
When out of BC they publicly talked about glory holes during the pandemic was amazing. People are gonna do it. We just make sure you're doing it safely
My friend was a zoologist at Environment Canada. When harper took office my friend and his colleagues were given a gag order, they were not allowed to speak to the press about climate change. He left the job. I fucking hate that little fascist runt twat.
If you want to see the conservatives defeated you'll have to actually come up with criticisms based in reality. Screaming that they are going to shut Health Canada down and claiming Harper purged it is such fanciful nonsense that you are not going to convince any fence sitter with that argument. PP has plenty of actual shit positions he's actually on the record advocating for.
It seems according to your cited article that the muzzling didn't let off in the Trudeau liberal years. Another instance of government withhold or suppressing information is seen in GHG emissions trends in Canada.
Not at that level... but then, Trump didn't purge the entire government last time either. Conservatives have very similar goals and Musk has been using his money and power to effect other countries too. I've seen conservatives use the same tactics in many countries. Ireland with the anti-immigrant groups blaming them for the housing crunches.
The overarching goal is wealth consolidation and privatization, but the things Trump is doing to the US would not work out in Canada.
Frankly, we're already so heavily monopolized, the only thing on the list that they need to do here is the deregulation, and as much as that sucks, it wouldn't really be permanent damage to the country.
The one thing they will probably do that'll be permanent damage is killing the CBC, and selling off crown corps like Canada Post.
That's because all conservative leaders have unified under the same org that Harper is helping to run now. They share money, think tanks, propaganda specialists, donors, strategists, and coordinate efforts to control governments from the shadows.
It's going to get much worse all over the World because Muskler just proved to the other billionaires they can buy the rule of an entire country. We probably already have Bezos working the same on Brazil just so he can own the other Amazon as well. Zucky is probably already trying to buy Vietnam for his wife to rule. The Murdoch family will probably work on ruling over Australia. Etc.
Just imagine if one of those illegal immigrant drug running terrorists that have overrun our country managed to wire a Tesla that muskrat and drump were going to take for a test drive. Wouldn’t that be horrible?
Most of us would love to, but we don't live anywhere near there. I, for instance, live two mountain ranges away. If it was as simple as a two hour bus ride, I'd be in front of the white house with a sign every day after work. It's not as simple as Europeans are making it out to be. Most of us can't access the capital without spending several hundred dollars on travel and taking time off. By all means, those that can, should be, but all the rest of us can do is yell at our senators.
And half of them support this. Most of them aren't acting aggressively enough, and a huge chunk of them do not care because they think they're rich enough to be safe.
Yeah, came to say precisely this. Although Canada might be a better reference for people in the US. Just to let them know that actual universal healthcare is right next door.
The NHS is amazing when it comes to immediate care for life-threatening illnesses. However, afaik care that just focusses on improving quality of life can have long wait times and be a bit lackluster. The whole thing has been picked away at by conservative governments and predatory medical companies. It's still a fantastic service with good people working for it that serves and saves millions of people a year, but our politicians don't seem to value it nearly enough.
Asterisk: There isn't a "British" NHS, the NHS is actually four separate organisations. (One for each of the countries in the UK) Although they're affected by similar factors, they have completely separate management, and issues affecting one of them don't necessarily affect all of them, or may affect them in different ways.
legendarily discriminatory. It can be good, if the bureaucracy chooses to work for you. which isnt exactly something you want from a national program serving a diverse populous
Two lots of chemo, two lots of radiotherapy, two lots of surgery got rid of our daughter's brain tumour... that would have left us destitute in the US.
a lot of them really aren't, that was specifically what I had in mind. November Kelly often jokes that the NHS treatment for her anxiety disorder is a list of holistic bullshit that pretends it helps but doesn't actually do anything.

Im well aware of the process. Despite what is happening here in the USA, we are unable to claim asylum anywhere. This is problematic to say the least.

This works until the China style internet censorship starts really soon at least.

Also there's the recent move to remove trans care, but that's down to shite politics more than the NHS itself.
