It's been months of silence on my end, and they're still finding ways to get to me

I thought I had found someone who truly loved me. Long story short, she didn't, and she hid it from me for a very long time. She betrayed me in pretty much every way imaginable. I had an adverse reaction to that and made a post about it on *her* social media. (That was a mistake, but I was emotional). Then all of our friends started harassing me. I was sent pictures of her in bed with other men, men whom I considered my closest, most trusted friends.

I moved away absolutely devastated, burned pretty much everything she ever gave me, blocked her, and tried to get on with my life. I met a new woman, and she's amazing. She's beautiful, affectionate, supportive, and I trust her with my life. I've hidden nothing from my past about her. She knows what happened to me, what I did wrong as well as what I did right. I'm so grateful for her, and I'm doing my best to leave my baggage behind me. It's just hard when my ex friends won't let me move on.

One of my ex friends left a random, nasty comment on my Steam profile page out of the blue. I haven't had any contact with any of them in months. I had an anxiety attack. I thought I was free from them, but they keep coming back to attack me when I least expect it.

There was a time when I could join a voice channel on our Discord server anytime night or day and talk with someone I trusted about pretty much anything. We were a very close friend group. Now, I have almost nobody. I'm in a happy, loving, respectful, committed relationship, and I still feel so very alone. I miss having friends, but at this point I feel so damaged that I don't know how to make friends like I used to.

I don't know what to expect from this post. I don't care about points for this post. I guess I'm just hoping that maybe some kind soul will reach out to me, and I might make a new friend.

I apologize for interrupting your regularly scheduled meme browsing. I hope you have a good day. Thank you for reading.

FP Edit:
Thank you all for your kind and supportive words. The outpouring of love is very much appreciated. I know this community is a wonderful place, and I'm grateful every single one of you.

I was asked in one comment to edit in some hobbies and interests I have, so I'm putting that here. I like pretty much anything nerdy. I like anime, video games (FPS and sandbox games mostly, but I'll play pretty much anything with the right company), Star Wars, D&D, drawing, airsoft/Nerf, cosplay, and all forms of crafting. Those are just a few of the things I enjoy, but I'll do or try pretty much anything in the right company (provided it's legal and not immoral). I'm pretty chill. I support my friends, and I treasure mutual trust. I go out of my way to help people in need. I'm not trying to pretend I'm a saint. I make mistakes. I'm just a guy doing his best to be a good person.

Those were not your friends. Do not morn that kind of a loss, they are the types to kick you when your down. You ll make new ones

My suggestion is to free yourself from the disease of social media. People can’t hit what they can’t see. Imgur doesn’t count, it anonymous.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

You didn't lose anything worth having. Once that sinks in it'll get easier to move on and disregard them and their comments

If writing this post felt good, consider finding a professional to talk to more often. That might make you feel good too.

Harassment online is crime. If it is t in your state, document everything, and bring these ex friends to civil court.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They sent you pictures of her sleeping with other men? They are definitely not friends.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Just in case they continue to send you nasty messages, save what they send you in a file, so one day you can sue them for harassment. 1/

It’s simple bro. They aren’t your friends. So, you have lost nothing.

4 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

So.. fuck em. You clearly live in their heads rent free, they just want you as miserable as they are. Ignore, don't give the satisfaction.

4 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Sounds like they deserve each other

4 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

I don't know. I hardly know what's real anymore. I don't care what happens to them now. I just want to be free from them.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

I feel there are 2 sides to this story. Because ALL of YOUR friends turned out to be assholes after you posted something on social.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yeah all the posts similar to this one are suspicious. MULTIPLE people suddenly transform?

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Though then again, online friendship(?) (op says Discord, Steam) must be prone to volatile badness like all online interactions

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There are two sides to every story. I'm not a saint, but I loved her with my whole heart, and I did my best to treat her right.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Until you’ve posted something on social media that made everyone turn into assholes. So I feel like you did something not really nice.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

OP’s name literally has nazi in it. It’s in an idiom context but still pretty suspicious and a red flag in social terms, IMO

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Cheating sucks, you have a right to be mad and disappointed, not to post horrible things.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I posted only the truth. She couldn't live with other people knowing that she manipulated and emotionally abused me.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Your ex-friends sound like worthless pieces of shit. My reaction to someone breaking up with a woman I know is not to fuck her and send pics

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Isn’t it kind of implausible that multiple men are all sending pics (presumably knowingly of each other) in bed with same woman? As attack?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I don't care if you believe it or not, but it happened, and it hurts. I don't have the screenshots anymore since they hurt to look at.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Send the pictures to her mom.

4 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 1

Bang her mom would be the better option

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Her mom was even more cruel and abusive than she was. Nothing could make me go back to that household.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

You didn't have friends.

4 years ago | Likes 776 Dislikes 5

This. You had pretend friends who wanted to bone your ex, those who haven't got a turn with will sling mud towards you in hope to get one.

4 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 1

I had the same thing happen. Broke up, and all the friends sided with her. I found out later the one angriest at me tried to date her :/

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Worst part is, I lost all those college connections, which is important in my industry.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've talked with my wives friends on this. We hang out enjoy each other's company, but if we divorced I'd be alone. Friends don't do that

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

That stings to hear, but you're right. I should see about fixing that.

4 years ago | Likes 260 Dislikes 2

This, it hurt but you learnt what kind of people they are.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You’re right. It does sting. But, it’s better to find out harshly than to not find out. I went through something similar. I’m better now. >

4 years ago | Likes 63 Dislikes 0

I’m not completely fixed, but life is getting MUCH BETTER without Voldemort (she who shall not be named).

4 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 1

Oh hey, we have one of those in our family too ?

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

That's what I came to say, too. Friends wouldn't do that {{HUGS}}

4 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

everyone wanting to be your friend. Including me. You have been chosen

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Bet they're a bunch of neckbeards white knighting for a go now that she's single. you've already moved on, let them live in the past

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yep. They were friends with you, to get you to trust them, to get with your ex, it sounds like. It was probably going on awhile.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Oh well. They were friends with you just to get something they wanted. As the other guy said, those aren’t actual friends.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

And they’re likely being petty like this, because they know it gets to you. They are sadists, plain and simple. They want you to suffer.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

So, you need to write them off in your head, as “former friends.” They were never that. Remember them as “parasites.” “Deceivers.”

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Look at it this way - every person in that group knows they could be made to undergo what you did. That would eat me up long term.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The realisation of it truely does, been there. But I noticed some healing after that, slowly. It's not easy, but you'll get there. <3

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This to your 'friends' buddy! Friends support eachother not this shenanigans

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

25 years ago I moved out of state to get away from a toxic group of friends. People Iloved. Would have died for. I made more. I made better.

4 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 2

I'm in therapy. I have been for about a month now. My therapist is great. I've just got a lot to unpack.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

The loss of a relationship = grief. And the harassment (that's precisely what it is) from your "friends" is only going to exacerbate trauma.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Perfect. If its been months and a random comment from someone who you no longer like still effects you, then the help is needed, Good luck.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Thank you

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Also, block them. They send you a message, don't even read it, delete it and block them. They do not deserve a second of your attention.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I've blocked them everywhere I can think of. We were friends on many different platforms, and evidently I missed a few spots.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

You're mourning a loss of relationships, and they're being assholes. Share your feelings with the new one, she sounds nice.

4 years ago | Likes 866 Dislikes 3

Sounds like you should be burning bridges bud. Blick them all. Remove them all. Leave them all behind, and say no goodbyes.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeap, even if you made mistakes it is clear who "the bigger man" is here. Change you accounts where you can and block them where you can't.

4 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

Spend you energy and love on your new person and waste no more them. You have trust issues now, but that can get better if you work on it.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yeah, cut the turds off from your life @OP. They don't deserve you suffering their shitass attitude.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

so much better stated than me. aaaand you got it done within the character limit!

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thank you. She's incredible, and I have shared absolutely everything with her. I believe a relationship should be open and honest.

4 years ago | Likes 118 Dislikes 1

If you want to leave baggage behind, it’s probably more “honest” to NOT talk about it. Conveying every detail to entirely new person has a

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

kind of disingenuousness about it. You’re piling unimportant past things (“leave baggage”) on and looking for them to cleanse it

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

and looking for pity. Like a munchausen’s syndrome kind of thing

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As someone who married that new fantastic fiancée, don't sweat the loss of those dildos, you'll end up only wanting to talk to her anyway?

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's just that as wonderful as she is, she can't replace the squad I used to have. I don't really have many bros anymore, and I miss…

…that. I'm very grateful for her, and I love her with my whole heart. I just feel kinda alone when it comes to friendships

4 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 1

Can relate. Just remember not to try so hard, that you're dope and go see if you can make some friends without huge expectations. Cheers

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

You claimed it was a “nasty” comment. Mod policy obviously doesn’t care about historical background. So why do you need “a side”?

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

The comment was nasty not because of its content, but because it was random negativity out of the blue after months of nothing.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Mod teams delete and send warnings for a nasty message with no substance. I’ve had it happen to me on IMGUR when I *wasn’t even* nasty.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I reported him for harassment on Steam. I don't know if anything will come of it, but I'm done with this situation.

Doesn't matter what happens outside of steam, it matters whats happening in side of steam.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

If it's harassment and a nasty comment you absolutely can still report. Just because it's bigger than steam doesn't mean it's not harassment
