Painted my mustang matte black!

Sep 24, 2016 4:42 PM

Here she is, when I first got her she was a kinda royal dark red color which I loved, with silver rims.

Got into a small accident (I wasn't at fault if you care!) Found a local autobody shop that was willing to fix and paint her for a little more than the amount of money insurance was offering

The guy at the shop told me I could come by to see it mid-progress while it was being taped off and ready to get painted, doors and hood are taken off!

Another angle (Looks dusty/dirty but its just from prepping it for paint coats)

Wham, came out super clean, they did a great job I was super happy and drove it around all day that day!

The whole time I had it after being painted I knew I wanted to black it out, matte black doesnt work with silver rims (in my opinion) Looked around online and rims are expensive! (for a college student working a part time job anyways) so I decided to plasti dip the rims I had instead

These pics of me were taken by my dad, you can still see silver on the rim because its one of the first coats of plasti dip

I ended up doing 6 coats of matte black plasti dip

The finished product :)

Another shot of her from behind

After some rain :D

awesome

Gorgeous car! I have one myself that needs the racing stripes repainted. Idk when I'll get the guts to do it ^^"

Looks good! I'm not a huge fan of the murdered out look (really needs a little contrast), but it's not my car either. Glad you were able 1/

Good job on having the matte black done correctly with the clearcoat instead of a rattlecan job.

Btw, try to make your dip coats pretty thick if you want to be able to peel it in the future

+1 for plastidip. How many cans did it take you?

Bought a pack of 4, only took 3, keeping the other in my garage for touch ups down the road

That's cool and all, but it's still a Mustang...

I suppose, I'm only 20 and in college so I can't afford either of those, as much as I'd love to

my 2 cents, if you are only 20 don't put anymore money on this car except for reg maint. save dough, take care of it, and then trade it in.

Mustang are girl cars. Low power and ugly lines.

Girl cars? what lol I mean they do attract a lot of girls I've learned from owning one

No. I mean ford has marketed and sold the Mustang as a woman's car. Always have.

Yeah? Well I mean several big-name males drive them including A$AP Rocky and several others. But you're entitled to your opinion :)
