So uh... I just caught the part where someone died.
Walking to the Vietnamese embassy in Seoul I was about 50 yards away when a dude scrambles out of a nearby post office with two fire extinguishers and rides off on his scooter. I thought that was odd, and then I turn the corner to see there's a minivan caught in flames. It looked like it was just parked on the side of the road and spontaneously combusted. There seemed to have been some attempt at putting out the flames but at this point it was beyond fighting without proper equipment. All the locals backed off and watched awestruck.
After this shot the entire front half of the van caught fire, the height of the flames nearly doubled. There was a lot of popping noise, not unlike the sound popcorn makes. I'd have to guess either it was air pockets in the engine block or maybe clumps of gasoline that mini-exploded.
I wasn't until the fire department showed up and put out the flames that I realized that there was a casualty. Once the flames were out I could very easily see the driver did not make it out of the vehicle. This saddened me deeply, at first I thought it was just a simple over heated vehicle where anyone inside could have easily jumped out at the sign of a fire... especially since there was no sign of collision, skid marks, or anything. The authorities were quick to set up a cordon and blocked the view of the deceased with sheets and their vehicles.
The whole front side is burned away....
For what it's worth, my condolences to the family whoever passed away today. I'm deeply sorry. RIP
And some cat tax. I had to walk away and calm myself down a bit, seeing a dead body was a bit of a shock. 3 blocks away I found some strays just hanging out on the roof enjoying this awesome view...

Suicide???

That's my guess. Car was in park and the person would have had time to get out.

All this happened in an art district and there was an art gallery right next to this spot dedicated to stray cats. Had food and shelter :3
