Slight spoilers, but no specifics. But still a warning.

I don't know if the writers for Andor season 2 are prophetic, or if they rewrote some of this after Isreal invaded Gaza, but this season is basically one-to-one correlation for what Isreal did to Gaza. For anyone who has seen it, but hasn't put this together, I just want to make sure you understand.
Isreal is the Empire. And we as a country are supporting that. Just think about that.

My great grandparents were part of a french resistance cell and the Ghorman arc hit me like very few pieces of television did. Andor is spectacular.

The Ghorman massacre, in some form, has been a part of the Star Wars universe since 1990.
The Rebels were always intended to, in some way, to reflect the Viet Cong, and the Empire the US, according to George Lucas himself.

Interesting. But was it always done in this way, or was it just a reference?
The manner in which the Empire kept squeezing Ghorman until they had no choice but to fight back, and using that as an excuse to vilify and massacre them is exactly what Isreal did to Gaza. The fact that Netanyahu knew an attack was coming, and did nothing in order to use it as a flash point is exactly this.

In Legends, the only massacre is the earlier one described in Andor that involves a landing.
You'd have to ask Tony Gilroy if he was referencing any recent current events in his writing of the 2nd massacre in Andor.
I just don't want to overlook that Star Wars has ALWAYS been political and always anti-fascist.

I don't think there is any coincidence that they told this story the way they told it, though. It is very obviously a scathing rebuke to the fascists taking power the world over, but the Ghorman timeline is very clearly analogous to what has happened in Gaza.

Tony Gilroy addresses this in a recent interview. I think lots of people can find touchstones in the Ghorman massacre in Andor. It doesn't have to be an allegory of just one tragic event.
