A nice sunny day down at the tennis centre for the Australian Open with the trainlines snaking their way between the tennis centre and the Melbourne Cricket Ground (home of the 1956 Olympics) which make up the Melbourne Sports and Entertainment Precinct.

The Royal Botanic Gardens and Kings Domain across the Yarra River.

Rod Laver Arena (centre court; left) and Margaret Court Arena with their roofs open on the first day of the Australian Open on Monday.

This forecourt area is being redeveloped over the next two years to provide more shelter from the sun for attendees.

The city skyline in the evening with the sports precinct adjacent.

The massive Melbourne Cricket Ground (currently 100,024 capacity) set up for the AFL Grand Final last year.
