Dear Imgurians
You might remember us from our dev diaries when we showed you some concept art of our city building game. After all this time, we finally got some news:
We just released a demo as part of the steam next fest! It took a really long time for us to bring this concept to life, so we would be grateful to get your feedback :)
You can download it here if you like: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1121640/The_Wandering_Village/

Watched Real Civil Engineer give this a go on youtube last week. Will see how development goes but I'm interested.

Very cool art style. My only critique is the grass is slightly too plain. There should be a slight variation/contrasting detail.

You name it, its something we have delayed in the devvelopment, but will eventually be fixed

Been playing it. It’s fun. Thank you so much for your hard work @StrayFawn. I’m excited to make a full purchase when it’s released summer.

Crossed we get to see maybe different beasts to live in with different color tribes

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Do they know they are on a creature's back? Does the creature know they are back there?

4 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 5

Yeah I saw yogscast tom play it, trying to tell the grumpy dinosaur what to do is a major mechanic

Kind words :'D

Hope you can bring this to Switch looks great!

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 10

this would be great! But I can't promise anything until we have had our hands on a switch dev kit and see how it performs.

It's turtles all the way down.

The creature is called Onbu. But now I'm imagining that the ground it's walking on is another giant creature in form of a turtle xD

4 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 6

That has four elephants holding up the world walking on the back of a turtle?

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

that comes in the expantion

I think it looks great. Do you have any plans to release it on Switch? Yes, I know, I’m a console peasant.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

We do have an xbox release planned and will see how it performs for the switch in the future. This may take a while, though.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Ah, good luck! I’ll keep my eyes peeled for the game on switch.

I've ranted so many times about imposing frame rate caps on appropriate animations in games! Big fucking kudos to you guys for doing it!

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I'll let markus, our animator, know :)

I wish Steam would email when a Demo is available. Pretty sure I wishlisted this some time ago there.

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 6

why to rely on steam if you can have a developer to remind you about it ^.^

Luckily I did catch this post!

Add caves on that monsters back, and stuff them full of bats ?noredirect

Downloaded! As a writer/editor I will say: make sure your game’s writing is on point! So many games I find ruined by bad or poor writing

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 10

2/2 Biggest thing is show don’t tell! So many games, especially indie, don’t focus on their writing enough

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 7

Can't argue about that. As a small swiss studio that has all hands full doing art, game design and coding...

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 6

it's hard to reach the quality of a professional english speaking writer. We are in contact with an american author for consulting, though.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 6

It’s hard even as a native English speaker to write well!! I don’t mind poor English but more-so how the story is told :) good luck btw!

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 6

It’s like Harvest Moon and Zelda had a baby

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 6

Hmm love these games, but giant Onbu is a little to big for those parents ^^'

... On the back of a giant creature

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Just downloaded. I’ll give it a run tonight.

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 11

: > would love to hear from you when you're done!

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 5

Didn’t get through the tutorial, life came up.. enjoying the music and esthetic

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Finished expeditions could use a tone or a count down on the village screen to let you know they are done.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I over built and wasted resources so I’m gonna restart next time.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I found I wanted to pet the big guy with the mouse… not needed but I sure tried. Hope to see multiple types of beasty for variety.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Who are the mostly 3 downvoters on the comments and replies?? This looks awesome and I'm giving it a run tonight!

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 8

How was it? :)

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Fuck I seen a youtube playing this seems like a cool game but I'm a smooth brain and only watch let's plays rather than playing.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Big brain move!

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

That looks cute

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 10

thanks!

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

Got an email from you already :) It is on my list! Keep up the good work.

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 7

keep up the feedback ; )

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

Is there any combat, and do the turtles do it or the villagers? Heroes of Might and Magic springs to mind

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 8

The game is not combat heave, but you'll have to defend your village and onbu, the giant creature, against toxic spores and parasites.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

It looks great!

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 9

thank you beeSanz!

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 6

Shit. The ad made it to the fp.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 5

So everyone who includes a link in their description for their web presence is adverstising? Are you new to imgur?

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

You must be if you’re not aware of the “indie gamer - I quit my job to make a game” FP tutorial that plagues Imgur now.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Never was a problem to me like the cosplay, RHM, THT, bs.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Appears we have reached common ground. I also agree all that’s bs too. To me Imgur is for dank memes and funny gifs. Not a real SM platform

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I had a blast playing the demo, definitely looking forward to launch

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 6

Very cool! Is there anything you'd like to see fundamentaly improved :) ?

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 6

Could be clearer that you need a special building to harvest the large rocks and stones, like bolding the name of the building in the text.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 5

It was a little frustrating in the beginning trying to figure out how to harvest them, until I looked at the tech tree for new buildings.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Bolding important words in the building description sounds like a good idea. Thank you!

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

No problem, something like that helps point out what exactly the player needs next to accomplish this task.
