Gandalf’s arrival in Bag End
I came across those old LOTR illustrations from 1993 made by Sergei Iukhimov (a/k/a Sergey Yuhimov). Today when we think about Middle-earth we see it depicted by Peter JAckson, I think it's always cool to see some unique art based on what we love. Plus I really like that style, it brings to mind medieval manuscripts or russian religious iconography. Enjoy!
Meeting of Strider at The Prancing Pony
Balrog
Death of Boromir
Orc taking Merry and Pippin
Battle of Helm's Deep or Battle of the Black Gate
I think, I'm not sure here, thanks @Quarktaart1
Siege of Minas Tirith
Mordors army
The Ents march on Isengard
The Witch King
One of my favorite, looks like a villain from russian legend or fairy tale

Its a horrible realisation when something "old" is now made severel years after you
ludwigsholyblade
These really captured the medieval art style. This is simply amazing.
Lucidacide
You're sure it's not done by a medieval artist who somehow foresaw the books ?
ThrowingDummy
Wow! These are great and I've never seen them before, which amazes me. Thank you.
noforeplay

the Balrog one looks more like 80's videogame cover art tho
MarvelHorse
It reminds me of the 2nd last boss - fire hawk I think- in Zelda 2 on NES.
HibachiSniperWoT
Am I the only one that looks at the balrog's face and sees biker owl wearing a motorcycle helmet and sunglasses?
cniht
I see the sutton hoo helmet.

Who knew Minas Tirith was a TARDIS?

Old... 1993, 1993... old. FU OP.
KidCola
This is really cool. Adds so much flavor.

Is that Princess Leia fighting a Balrog in #3?
OSCgal
These are really cool, @OP! #6 is definitely the Black Gate, given we can see Dol Amroth's standard with the ship on it.
pocktio
1993 is way too modern for this magic.
heyguysimtom
Is it the middle ages in Russia?
norill

I like this post. But I think the Battle of Helms Deep actually depicts the Battle at the black gate, considering those flags.
Jaaam
Yeah the eye of sauron the mouth of sauron the gate literally being black and the collected assembly charging the gate all seem to agree
namiasdf
And who has the walls on their side
Quarktaart1
And the sword and shirt shown by the bad guy
Gixxerguy
*Mouth of Sauron
UrzaMajora
Plus the good guys are moving towards the towers, behind the bad guys. So it's definitely the black gate.

Plus Gondor's pennant wasn't at Helm's Deep.
ElBivo
The Ship banner must be Dol Amroth. Mouth of Sauron offering Sting and the mithril shirt.
RaultxO
That's what I thought. And a crowned Aragorn.
LondonSing
+ the White Tree banner; Gondor didn't have troops at Helm's Deep.
