Wow, it’s almost like that time they did things “by the book” and the man convicted of 34 felonies received no punishment and was even allowed to become president
TheGrumpyOldTroll
And then they brushed it away. =(

in terms of the massive amount of money that is being raised by pacs, would it be too expensive for the DNC to run 15 second commercials in the districts of GOP Reps to tell their constituent what they voted for and what they against this week? it would make the news and be run in countless media outlets for free.
SchnekPlissken
Actually, probably not (need to know what's in there), as Epstein was in all likelihood a bad actor with ties to a foreign intelligence agency. It's not just embarrassment that's being hidden, but treason...(oops)
IBroughtASpareDrainpipe
Update: the nazis brushed it away.
bourbonandbaddecisions
Republicans voted to protect the pedophiles in the Epstein files. They are all willing accomplices.
dannnen3
So they're bringing it to the Rules court again?
alittleglassvial
100% real talk here but
It took them like 60 odd years or whatever to release the Kennedy files and those had as much conspiracy and controversy...
Why would we have our expectations set such that they aren't just fuckin with us and keepin us busy to hide other atrocities?
alittleglassvial
This just occurred to me earlier today browsing various documentaries on Prime.
RenaissanceFaireMan
Why not 3 days?
burpwind
Give them 30 days to wash them. Good effort idiots.

We are NEVER gonna see them. Trust me.
Fatloudorangecat
It will be interesting to see the age range of the Dems that vote against it. But at least there will be a record.
ConfederacyOfDunces
100% of House Dems today voted to release the files (210). 100% of House Repubs voted to block release (211).

Don't you get it? THERE ARE NO EPSTEIN FILES. They've spent the six months Trump had been in office gutting every agency, rooting out every copy, and distracting the public with maniacal dismantling of every vital agency, all to buy themselves time to eliminate all the evidence. And they've finished the job. There will be no release of the files. They're all gone.
Frogyz
The public is past deserving to know, they deserve action against the island of pedophiles.
Helixninja333
Keep pushing. One thing to keep in mind is that people still tend towards being single issue voters. (Imgur is yet another a bubble, so keep that in mind.) So we need to push the one singular issue: We cannot have pedophiles in power. And this includes removing those who protect these pedophiles.
usernametakenisthestoryofmylife
Godspeed Ro, but they've already voted it down. The cowards are afraid of shitstain. But keep pushing!
IslaNublar
AFRAID? They voted no because most of them are in it!
Hexidimentional
We knew it would fail, but now we know which politicians are pedophiles.
mrthewhitee
Two totally different things happening.
KevinStrexcorp
Literally one vote short. (211-210) Worth another punt on a standalone bill instead of a weird rider.
Smidge204
As an amendment to some other bill, they can (and will) just keep bringing it up in committee and forcing them to vote on roll call.
blaghart
While it's good that they're doing this now it's irritating as fuck that they didn't do this any time in the four years under Biden AND/OR for anything else that fucking matters.
IncognitoEnthusiast
Comparing apples to oranges there, things can be sealed, and those court proceedings therein take forever at the best of times. This can only be done because everything has been dropped and no active investigation is ongoing and it STILL will be a bitch because of how hard it is to get things unsealed. And that is before adding on the actual names on the list.
ps238principal
Assuming it passes, who's going to enforce it when she doesn't release them? They don't listen to laws anymore, as if they ever did.
philmoregraves
Its more signaling of who is on which side. You vote no on releasing the documents, you are now on everyone's radar (even MAGA) because why would you vote no on this transparency? what are you trying to hide? Are your donors in the file, are you in the file? Its disruptive and forces doubt in your elected officials, and maybe you won't vote to keep them in
mrthewhitee
The conflict is the point. Maga are mad. A law requiring the release being ignored will make them madder. The angrier they can make them and the more sustained this issue becomes the greater the chance it has an impact come election time.

Congress can impeach the AG and remove her from office and bar her from holding any office ever again with conviction in the Senate.
loma45
Technically? Sure. But wake me up when the current congress actually does anything that remotely goes against Trump - and for now Bondi still seems to have Trump's support.
Congress can enforce a ton of checks on Trump & Co's powers... they just don't.
eion85
It won't happen if we just give up at the go.
loma45
We're not really "at the go". This congress has had dozen's of opportunities to show just the slightest bit of spine.
And I don't advocate for giving up; only suggesting that putting any faith at all in the current congress is optimistic to an extreme degree.
Protests, midterms, and maybe a well placed heart attack are probably the best way out of this.
Badprenup
Plus if it's impeachment then I imagine you need a 2/3 majority in the Senate to actually remove them from their position, which makes it an absolute non-starter
eion85
I don't put faith in anything.
cresch5842
No problem! Pam already shredded all the incriminating stuff anyway!
Blackfinity
Was wondering how the integrity of any of the documents, in control of the Trump administration, can be assured. Hopefully copies were made and were put in a safe place...
zFUBARz
Oh they absolutely can't, the only hope is that the incompetent people are the ones in charge of it and not the malevolent monsters who actually have skill.
captainsweatypants
Well you do know that Obama and the Clintons with help from Biden wrote the whole thing right? So probably Rosie and Elmo will be named on the list duh
