She really should have her own account at this point!

Ruebens are the biggest lie. EVERYTHING about them is great at first. Then you put saurkraut on them and they become the most vile thing in existence.

I know kraut is a controversial food, but the homemade stuff blows the store bought kind out of the water.

i do this with puff pastry and its amazing. im sure this is too

Doesn't the puff pastry get super squishy and wet?

Idk why it’s never occurred to me that I can just go buy egg roll wrappers and do something like this??!!

1 day ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I knew I could buy eggrolls wrappers but never dreamed of putting them in the air fryer for some reason, and I’m bad at stove frying. This has possibilities!!

I’ve seen a lot of different takes on this theme, southwestern chicken and apple pie are both on my to-try list.

My first thought was shredded chicken, hot sauce and crumbled blue cheese.

Making more of a mincemeat would be better imo for a better egg roll-ishness but yeah, that's one way to make a Reuben better! Never was a huge fan, give me a Rachel. Old joke of mine that Reubens are old man sandwiches, if you're serving a group of men over 50 you might as well just start writing down the R

I've loved Reubens since I was like 10 tbh.

Then you a witch /s

I haven’t made it to 50 yet, I must just be an old man at heart. I love anything reubened.

Its undeniably a GOAT sandwich, it's just never at the front or even near the front of my mental decision "what sandwich should I get?" And I also like a good slaw on a sandwich so... that's why I prefer Rachels. Not that I wouldn't eat

I was never a fan of Reuben’s bc of the Swiss and rye (the funky tastes of both come through STRONG for me; all I can taste is vomit and mold). Tried swapping for pepper jack and sour dough and it’s awesome! Add a bit of heat (cayenne or sriracha to the dressing) and it’s even better. The combo of the salt/fat/texture of the meat with the crispy bread, tangy kraut, and creamy sweet sauce is pretty hard to beat.

Yeah I'm similar, but actually I like sourdough less than rye. A Reuben is pretty much fine to me if it's on a different bread... but when you sub the slaw in for the kraut, I can handle the rye. The meat between a Reuben and a Rachel is actually the part I care about the least, lol

Cooking oil in spray form seems so weirdly American to me.

1 day ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 2

Yeah, we do weird shit (like elect assholes), but anyway.

I'm not shilling for this website, as I buy local. But this stuff right here is a game changer. Not to be used as lubricant so much as flavor. Duck Fat goes very well on roasted pork, Scotch Eggs, grilled bratwurst/sausage, the possibilities are endless. The Beef Tallow I haven't used, but I'd imagine it'd go very well on this recipe. @OP

We don't do aerosol cans when we can help it in this household because they're super wasteful in every way. But they make these reusable squeeze trigger bottles for oil that are "manual." Squeezing my finger a time or two instead of pushing on an aerosol can button is just fine by me. They're way cheaper too. They work great and you can still spray on your oil in just the same way.

Yeah we were talking about those earlier, someone said those are terrible and clog super easily.

It’s so handy! The avocado oil is my favorite, some of the others smell fishy to me.

1 day ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I thought the fishy smelling with some oils was just a me thing

I hope it sprays cleaner than the fucking Pam I bought! The nozzle is really stiff to press, so when I accidentally use too much force it comes out like a rocket and sprays everywhere but the damn foil!

I bought a little spray bottle that I can fill with whatever oil I want. It's pretty neat. And I can pour out of it too! It's also WAY cheaper in the long run than buying those spray cans.

Oh! I know why this is! Avocado oil has a REALLY high smoke point 500F+, when oils break down from heat they can give off some really weird smells. Avocado Oil is PERFECT for air frying, Peanut Oil is also really good so long as you don't have allergy issues.

Good to know I’m not just crazy!

I've seen people put oil in those pump spray bottles, but having it in a aerosol can just feels wrong.

1 day ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Problem with the pumps is that they clog very easily, and become a maintenance nightmare. I love the concept, though.

1 day ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I have one of those pump sprayers, and it's never clogged. When it runs empty, I wash it with warm soapy water and it's good to refill.

23 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Do they? Never heard of this, but I don't have one, either. Maybe the bottles made for oils have looser tolerances for this reason?

I've gone through a couple of Mistos, and a Williams Sonoma (the latter lasted the longest). I even tried flushing it through with alcohol, and it only marginally helped.
