FP edit: I'm traveling abroad atm and the biggest culture shock is there just aren't cops all over the place like in the US. I've been in Thailand for over 2 months and I have seen 2 cops. Zero pulling anyone over or standing outside bars and clubs down town harassing people. I was in London for 2 weeks and it was the same way. It really hammers home how horrible the situation in the US and how the job of the police seems to be to extort as much money out of the local Economy from citizens as possible.

You know, I laughed. Then realized how sad that was because it’s true and Im unphased. Why life?..

Fun fact: cops are trained to give conflicting orders. So no matter what you do, you're resisting and they have probable cause. Good luck lying on your stomach, lying on your back, putting your hands up and putting your hands flat on the ground at the same time while showing them your ID.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

This is blatantly false! They would never allow you to film them and their body cams would fail at the exact right moment

3 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

DOA + Jello biafra, the singer-songwriter from the Dead Kennedys, years ago did a song with lyrics that said I shot a handcuff 12-year-old to death in the back of my patrol car. His toy gun looked real, I had to defend myself. I'm always looking for excuses to defend myself

Got a legally held gun in the car? Or in fact even got a police officer who suspects you might have one? It is apparently entirely your job to manage and deescalate that whole situation, not theirs. Mental. Any nervousness or defensiveness or lack of clarity on your part may be attributed as a threat, any nervousness or defensiveness or aggression or lack of clarity on their part is your fault.

Just watched a video questioning a cop about why he drew and pointed his gun at a family fishing while one of the members was open carrying. The person never once unholstered their weapon but the cop didn't understand that other people are allowed to be armed without being a threat.

I know of a video that is exactly this. Guy gets pulled over, and steps out to ask what's wrong, cop tells him and asks for ID, the dude asks if he can reach in and grab it, cop says yea. The moment he leans In to retrieve his card, the cop shoots him. When asked why, his response was "you dove into your car."

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 6

I'm currently suing a local police dept over a false arrest. An officer was pessured to arrest me by her supervisors after conducting an Illegal search and asking me questions after being cuffed. She even verifiably lied in her report several times about things that happened on camera. Throughout the entire experience I've had to deal with being treated like I'm doing something wrong by pursuing legal action, but I don't care, fuck bad cops from the bottom of my heart.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Here's some not-legal-advice for everyone. Cops are not your friend, they pretend to be so you'll tell them what they want. Cops are allowed to lie to you. Cops need to articulate a reason to make demands of you. If you are not free to leave, you are detained. If you are detained, you must be told your rights before asking you anything else. Your miranda rights are your first line of defense. Everything you do and say is recorded.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Just because the supervisor says it, doesn't make it true. Charges can be added or dropped at a later date after prosecution reviews the evidence. Police support police, even when it's wrong. The less you say, the better for your lawyer in almost every case. You have to verbally invoke your 5th amendment for it to be valid. Do not call the police, unless a violent response to your call is needed. Do not snitch on your friends, it wont make anything better for you.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

If you have had an interaction with the police where you feel wronged, immediately learn as much about your specific charges as possible. If what you learn does not match what you did, I'd find legal representation immediately. Try and look for lawyers with experience. Most lawyers will give you a free consultation. Try and give them as much info as you can, and do not omit anything that may be relevant, they are not your enemy. Fight back against shitty cops. Be the change.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Also, do not go with the first lawyer that gives you the answer you wanna hear and takes your money. I'd recommend the most pragmatic lawyer, whose answers most closely mirror what youve seen from other cases and/or the specific legal language at play in your case. Talk to several lawyers, compare their answers and pick what works best for you. I spoke to 6 lawyers before finding one that seemed to have specific experience with false arrests.

All cops are cunts even the so called good ones because if they were good cops they’d be arresting the bad ones . As I said ALL cops are cunts PERIOD

A cop shot at a little 5 lb dog. Because he was "afraid for his life". Ended up striking the lady who called 911 due an abusive spouse. The officer called for an ambulance and stated the lady might have been scratch by the dog... she is sueing for $10 million due to a variety of reasons including there being a bullet still lodged in her shin. And as always...Will Bart Simpson please say the famous statement?

That doesnt look like a slide you'd send your kids down, if you want to keep having kids.

3 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

Probably doesn't interfere with your ability to have more kids, so much as keeping the ones you have.

3 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 6

I watched a video shot by an adult holding a camera down that slide. It doesn’t sense why he was going so fast.

3 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 3

Someone else said the cops had been called bc someone greased the slide and the cop tested it out himself. Idk though, it's the internet. For all we know he's made of soap and lube.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Those uniforms ARE very slippery. Had a pair of surplus-store BPD pants when I was in HS and slid down a railing on the T. Almost fuckin died, or at least almost shattered my ankles. Got a couple of friction burns on my hands trying to stop my descent. It was gnarly

3 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 2

Really? This should be tested. More cops should go down slides.

3 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 4

This is one of the rare instances where a video with a cop on duty actually requires some context. Wtf happened there?

3 years ago | Likes 91 Dislikes 4

Child is hurt on slide. Parent calls cops and says "somebody greased the slide". Cops "send somebody over". Cop in video thinks greasing the slide can't be that serious, and tries it.

3 years ago | Likes 118 Dislikes 3

That is fucking hilarious and made my day. Thank you sir

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'll give him some credit for actually testing the slide rather than just chalking it up to helicopter parents. I would be concerned if one of my kids landed how the cop did.

3 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 4

I once told a friend, "Luckily I'm white." When talking about something. She pointed out I'm trans, which is a danger point. But you have a good point. I'm also poor. Whoops. Being poor is the only reason my mom doesn't lick cops boots and isn't republican -_- she's so racist. She agreed trump is evil, but oh he did some things right. "Wut." She thought the wall was a good idea and that putting kids in cages sent a good message. I just, I walked away. There's no arguing with this woman.

Not necessarily. I narrowly avoided getting shot by Manchester Airport cops because of exactly this about 25 years ago. My mate took the instructions seriously, unfortunately his wallet was in his inside jacket pocket and he felt he had to get it AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. 1 MP5 flicked up, the light on his colleague's turned on and was in our eyes and the cop said "can you not do that please, sir, you have a machine gun trained on you" My ASD ass nearly corrected him that it was a sub-machine gun

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I thought armed police were the exception not the rule in the UK? Or is that a recent turn of events?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If you are finishing a joint in one of the viewing areas of the airport at about 3-4am watching planes take off and your mate parked his ratty Fiat Uno at the gate, they apparently make that exception. It was just after the IRA ceasefire but the Real IRA were still pretty active. It would have been a good place to launch an RPG or Stinger. Once they realised we were no threat they were fine but before they climbed back over the gate, they put the safety on and took the round out of the chamber

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I watched him ease his trigger finger and take the pressure off, so I was about half a lb away from getting double tapped. I'm slightly proud that I didn't shit or piss myself

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Ah yes that might be an exception. I thought you were in the terminal for some reason I apologize for my lack of reading comprehension and am glad you didn't get killed over something stupid. Seems like the police in the UK have always been more professional than their US counterparts which doesn't really surprise me.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Hating a gang of fascists is pretty serious unfortunately. Gotta be a special kind evil to want to be a cop, good people don’t apply because good people don’t want to oppress their neighbors.

3 years ago | Likes 62 Dislikes 21

The only person that I knew that wanted to be a cop was because cops have relaxed restrictions for buying firearms for personal use.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There are two kinds of people who become Cops. The ones that genuinely want to help people, and the ones who want power over others. The first kind don't tend to last long.

3 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 1

I was a cop for about 3 months after getting out of the military while in college. I reported racist cops who were openly targeting minorities to steal from them and wasn't able to get another job as a cop with any other police departments. Even if you want to do good when you become a cop they'll make sure that you either change your attitude or change your job

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

TL;DR you aren't a bastard so they got rid of you.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Nah, good people apply because they've swallowed the coproganda hook, line, and sinker. They either don't stay good or don't stay cops pretty soon after, though.

3 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 5

Your not a good person if you join a bunch of KKK goosesteppers in 2023.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

You can be a good person that was deceived, but that is exceedingly more difficult to do these days.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

You can’t believe copaganda and be a good person. It involves hurting and killing your neighbors, or involves making sure others do what you say because you threaten them with violence. There are no excuses at this point, we’ve had decades of police brutality videos which have only become more common, and if you actively want to join their ranks, you’re a fascist piece of shit, full stop.

3 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 20

Nobody is immune to propaganda.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Completely wrong, but I bet you're one of those "propaganda and marketing doesn't work on me" people. Many want to do good for their community and see police work as that opportunity, especially with the way departments advertise themselves. There are those that want to change it from the inside as well. You can be a good person wanting to be a cop, ignorant of the world and ill informed, but good.

3 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 2

The point of coproganda is to trick otherwise good people into thinking cops are good people. I fell for it until I graduated high school and started broadening my horizons outside of the conservative world view of my parents. Had I been inclined towards law enforcement, I would have joined thinking I was going to be like Culombo or Andy Griffith.

It is overblown for he sake of the meme (but it is fucked uo that you actually have to consider this as a possibility). The meme may be made up, I do know of that therapist (PoC, duh) that was shot (non fatal, but still) because police thought his patient was holding a gun (they wanted to shoot his patient but hit the therapist). His patient was one of those really heavy autism cases, like non verbal and all. He ran away from his therapy center and was sitting on a road holding his toy truck

Hey, Admiral. I get that you’re adding requested context, and it’s accurate to say that the Autistic kid in the case you’re discussing is nonspeaking. Next time though could you avoid phrases like “one of those heavy cases” etc? It overly dehumanizes the person & it’s not accurate that Autistic folks are either speaking or nonspeaking. Example: I’m an Autistic scientist with a PhD & multiple conference presentation awards, and I also experience nonverbal periods. Just a request 🤟

3 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 11

I’m pretty sure they meant he was fat not the severity of their autism.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 5

a permanently non verbal autistic that needs constant therapy is not a heavy case of autism? And no I dont think it dehumanizes them if I state that the person is on the severe side of the autism spectrum, its just stating a fact.

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 5

I don’t care if you don’t think it dehumanizes other Autistics to use bigoted language. “Heavy case” is not a factual statement. The sensory overload — and euphoria — that Autistic people experience changes from person to person and even minute to minute for the same person depending on the context and environment. Just because you perceive one moment of one person’s existence as a “heavy case” doesn’t make it so. And all Autistics are *equally* Autistic, in that we aren’t *not* Autistic.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Wow, doubling down? Jeez dude, just, take the criticism, apologize for not knowing better and move the fuck on. Being wrong is ok, being a dick about it when it's pointed out is not. And that person, both someone with autism and a PhD on the subject, would know better than you so maybe pay attention ya?
