The corporation is question is not actually ABC, but Nexstar. They own something like 196 local TV stations, many of whom are ABC affiliates. They're looking to merge soon, and own even more. But they need the FCC to raise the cap on how many stations any one company can own to 40%. So Trump's FCC chair threatened them if they didn't pull Kimmel, so they refused to air Kimmel, which in turn forced ABC to suspend him. Even worse, Nextstar SHOULDN'T get that merger anyway. It's already too big.
