Yep! Gotta say I'm pretty proud of these spells FX (indie team of 3 people)!

I always upvote these. Even if it's an "ad", if it looks good, I am grateful to you for bringing it to my attention. Anybody that takes the side of Imgur parent company, MediaLab.AI Inc., over a bunch of creative indie developers can actually fuck off. If your game looks shit, you can fuck off. Game looks nice btw.

I really enjoy the bear centaur

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 16

That’s great! What engine? Doing portal/teleport with a 3rd person camera can be a real PITA.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 15

All the ad complainers

3 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 23

Insufferables. There was this guy talking about how the ads are standing in the way of them enjoying imgur. But then I checked their comments and they were filled with "this is an ad comment" meme as far as I could scroll. It was bordering on mental illness.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 13

Or they lurk and only bother commenting on ads, in which case it would be pretty disappointing how many ads make it through.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not make it through, but they are either ignored or accepted because they're non-game dev related. Discriminating really.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I Don’t find this far fetched. It was used very well in the split gate

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 11

Now you're thinking with portals!

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 11

Strange how imgur shadowbans this link unless you break it: https://www.gamedeveloper. com/business/how-to-get-on-the-front-page-of-imgur

3 years ago | Likes 68 Dislikes 14

In a moral battle between imgur parent MediaLab.AI Inc. and a small indie team of devs, I will ALWAYS side with the devs. It's actually bullshit that guides should need to be written. People should be able to post their shit here for us to rate. What is the problem?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 5

It's the existence of the guide that kind of tells you what the problem is. Whenever I see a cool piece of indie game content on imgur, the first thing I do is click on the username to see whether the person who posted it is actually an imgurian or has only created an account solely to promote something. If they have no other posts or comments, I treat it like a selfie.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Because uncommon websites are likely a heuristic in Imgur's antispam system.

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

They shadowban most comments with links that aren't from the top 10 websites I find. Tinyurl instantly blocked etc

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Good to know, thanks.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Maybe to stop giving people ideas? But it's out there. Calling it out brings attention to how disingenuous it is, it doesn't support it.

3 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 5

Nice, there's not enough innovative use of magic in games. So many spells in D&D have never been done in a video game.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 16

I don't see why people are siding with the corporate owned imgur that has downgraded our QoL on the app in the past year and forced ads down our throat - but when an indie dev wants to show off something, even if it can be perceived as an ad..what's the issue? The big rich corporation didn't get a piece of the pie? You weren't forced to view the post, the actual ads the app forces on you - they're totally okay tho. Corporate simping mindset lives on

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 7

People are saying imgur ads are a good thing? Where?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Now ye are pontificating with thy portals

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 12

I really do hope all the simps muttering "at least it's not some big studio" drown in the incessant flow of these ads their indifference has created. Another generic game advertising itself poorly disguised as content. Drink up bois, you earned it.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Looks awesome! Can't wait to play!

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 10

Portals 3?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 10

This is not where you do it. Solicit elsewhere and properly. Won’t even check out the Steam page because you rubbed me the wrong way.

3 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 12

But people are allowed to post their paintings and organize commissions here? Maybe you are woried Imgur parent company MediaLab.AI Inc. will lose out on some ad money from a small bunch of indie creatives? This is also definitely not the place for that.

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 5

A regular Imgur user who also posts their stuff, game or otherwise: cool. A game company that makes a "just a small indie dev :)))" account purely to post a few ads? Not cool.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

I dunno why but it reminds me of 2000's "Sacrifice". Excellent!!

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 11

Look at ad, realize its an ad, downvote. Repeat.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Was that a thicc ass bear centaur?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 7

Ok, yes. Ok but there is no load time... Am I getting too old? Tech getting too fast? When do I put in the next CD-ROM?

3 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 9

Open world games pre-load chunks of map as you walk around so that it is loaded by the time you get there. Easy to apply to portals.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

CD-ROM?!? In THIS economy? Shove in the next 3.5" floppy

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

3.5"??? Why aren't you using proper 5 1/4"?

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

3.5" is all i have... I've never had 5.25" :(

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If I understand the last one correctly - reverse time and observe your past mistakes before trying again - really neat idea!

Indeed, OPs content indeed reminds me of that article about how to advertise on imgur, I was reading through...

3 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

In this case it's justified. But there are some ad police on imgur that only target game devs and their comments tab is filled with comments with this meme or the scrn shot of that site. It's discriminating and a nuisance and just as bad as the ads.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 5

I give any indie dev a pass, corporate behemoths can pay their own damn advertising but three-person studios are running on less than a shoestring budget.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Almost zero community engagement is where I draw the line.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Really? What's the name of the game? What's the name of the developer?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

The name was posted by OP and subsequently downvoted to the bottom by those that hate ads, because it's an ad.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's in one of their other comments and I'm not gonna bother posting it here.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 60

It’s…an ad.

3 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 1

An ad for South Park

What are you wearing ad for South Park?

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

A warm tone jacket, a hat and some gloves.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Are we thinking with Portals again?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Now that's thinking with portals.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

For those interested, the game is called Timemelters (it's in Early Access and has a Friend's Pass for co-op play). Cheers!

No advertising

3 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 3

It sucks because it looks neat, but I don’t support devs that circumvent the rules to keep from paying for ads.

3 years ago | Likes 241 Dislikes 33

Why do you give a shit if the Imgur corporation gets ad revenue?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Dude, this is a passion project. of three people. it looks amazing. why are you so butthurt about them posting their work on here. Celebrate creativity, don't knock them down for not having the cash to pay for ads.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Same, I see post like this, check the profile and they have like 2 posts. It's the only time I see ads here while having emerald

3 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 4

It's funny coz I noted that I'll soon post the progress of my game on imgur as someone who's been interacting with the community but some still didn't like hearing it and received an outlash that ad is ad. No, it doesn't matter if you're a long-term member there are a lot of ad police who absolutely hate your guts if you post anything game dev related. The irony is I never see them on those etsy posts, I guess if a beautiful woman is posing with their work it's ok. Imgur is a social media -

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

social media is known for self-promo and yes - albeit this post may be ad - self-promo isn't an ad, exact same as those etsy posts I do like to support here on imgur. I'm a part time solo game designer with a programmer I pay monthly. I can barely afford even that and social media is a good place to self-promo. So pls stop discriminating between game devs and etsy shops and really consider their story.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

only time i see adds here while having adblock

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Do you think they did not pay Imgur for this ? There are tons of posts which really look like ads more or less diguised.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 27

Correct. They did not pay Imgur for this, or else it would be in an ad spot vs a free post.

3 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 4

anyone is free to post anything on imgur to show off whatever they want. that's kinda the point of imgur.

and that's nothing more than pure speculation on your part. there's a large chance most of the assets used were purchased off of common marketplaces for indie devs

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

Really? What's the name of the game? What's the name of the developer?

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Same, but I'm not totally convinced about that rule. Do we really need to treat single developers in their first steps, the same way we treat corporations? (I have zero personal investment on the topic, just have doubts)

What? It's impressive, but not something that couldn't be done by a small team. Or did you think the engine was built ground up?

The company has 4 employees. Assets can be bought or you can use default assets. By comparison, Valheim launched off a 5-man team, and it's far more developmentally complex.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Looks awesome, has coop play?? But do we want devs competing to post half finished games like Russians post GTA screenshots or dumb memes?

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Indie devs rarely have money. Let them post if they want. If the post sucks and everybody hates it "because it is an ad" it will die in usersub.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

How is this different than artist posting their art here?

3 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 3

It's not, and some of you fucks can be really rude to artists here too. A very kind, shy artist person shared her art during Art Walk or whatever it was called, then people were really mean to her about it and she left Imgur and dropped off the planet into a pit of depression for six months. It was heartbreaking. Over some flowers in a jar. I'm still incensed about it and rage against mean people here.

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 3

It's not.

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

I don't get this attitude at all. I support small indie developers, and the fact is, they can't afford to pay for adds. Do you have the same attitude towards the other people showing what they do, like artists and craftsmen? Or is it purely people whose craft is games you dislike?

They didnt create the graphic engine. It's totally doable to make a beautifull game with a small crew. It's other aspect that are hard. Especially with high end graphic, everything around will be more complex

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

It's people who are here to sell shit. But you're right, if they're just showing off, it's fine. I think the issue is selling and pretending. It would be one thing if they were showing off their progress, regular posts, "hey, we started our dream job, here's some of what we're doing, just starting!" Kinda thing, and progress, because they were community members from the start just sharing with ppl, yeah, that's cool. But, no posts, then an ad? Hey op, get fucked.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

You're a sad little man.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

So they have to be a part of your community and post a least 3 cat pics and a dump first?

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Them's the rules

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

What rules? The rules that say shit ass corps like Imgur parent MediaLab.AI Inc. somehow need more money? Imagine siding with corporate interests over indie creatives on fucking Imgur. Or the rule that says if we let one do an "ad", then they will all try and do an "ad"? Sounds like a problem for usersub, and literally the way this community is designed.

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 8

I have an ad block because I don't want see ads. Other people pay for emerald cuz they don't want to see ads. No one gives a shit about the parent companies profit margins.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Nobody is mad because imgur is not getting paid you absolute baffoon.

Looks good as long as she doesn't start cringe bitching about her life to a bracelet

I find it equally hilarious and insane that the Twitch/Prime Gaming rewards for that game are still going, and it’s literally just nail polish for your character. Like, who thought of that lol

I tried Forspoken not long ago (crime version) and it was... yeah. It was okay but I got to the 'SHE'S THE CHOSEN ONE' shtick and was insta bored

Wow, in your shitastic effort to defend the game, you just spoiled the whole game ensuring even more people won't play it. Congratulations you stupid fucking nematode xD

3 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 2

I don't even know what game this is, but from a writer's perspective, that sounds like a really poorly written twist. "The real bad guy was on your wrist the entire time!". Also, which is it? Did she give in and kill the world leader as a plot device only to not give in to the subtle influences during gameplay, or did she actually resist killing the world leader? Because like, if she killed the world leader but was able to resist the LESSER manipulations, that's shitty writing.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

irc its more"i did everything you wanted me to do but ima kill you now, after i did everything you wanted"

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This sort of writing is what happens when you have a great team if writers make a good basis for a story, then the guys in suits, aka Square Enix, decides it's not good enough and dumbs it down. That's how Forspoken happened.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

is the gameplay fun if you ignore the story?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The game is "Forsaken", an AAA that bombed early 2023

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Don't you mean Forspoken?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Damn it yes, can't remember the title to save my life, the game is this bland

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

3 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 2

My friend doesn't. Would you be so kind to explain?

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

Of course you do. Because none of you even played the game. You let social influencers tell you have to feel about it. Now you guys are still circle jerking about a really good game. Just like the Last of Us Part II. You guys are snowflakes.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 35

What was wrong with tlou2? It was great?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

People are allowed to not like the things you like. It's ok. Also, the slang term "Snowflake" means someone who is unable to deal with an opposing viewpoint and who is easily offended. That sounds like your reply to their opinion, not their opinion itself, doesn't it? "None of you even played the game." sounds a lot like "you're not a real fan". I'm sure you like the game, but there's no reason to believe that your opinion is worth more than anyone else's. Grow up.

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

You know you can laugh at something you enjoy right? Because I liked the game a lot, but they definitely went a bit overboard with the complaining.
