Moby's dick

This book is a masterpiece, ean expertly crafted period piece that really paints a picture of what the life a whaling crew was like. It explores philosophical and moral questions and the authors prose are beautiful. It's too bad its boring as hell.

It starts of great, the story and characters are engaging, then ol' Hermie decides its very important that you know all about the history and minutiae of whaling. A whole goddamn chapter on the pay breakdown of the crew.... its excruciating.

It's a history book masquerading as an adventure novel. It's masterfully done, but I hate it still. It's like a painting of the ugliest most hateful person you've ever met if done by DaVinci. Tremendous skill and a masterwork, still wouldn't hang it in my living room.
