if he's anything like my 12 year old with twitchy trial and error platforming, be prepared to lose him for a week and buy a PS5 at launch.

When he breaks the TV, know it is your fault.

6 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

Brutal.

6 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Oh man that is cruel. I had that as a kid and I never managed to finish it.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I still play Ninja Gaiden 2 on 360. The best

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I told my wife we could go to disneyland if she beats ff7 and gets a master summon materia!

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

That's a reward in itself! You should have told her she had to beat the weapons instead

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Ruby weapon alone is a pain. Watch them try to figure that out without Google, like most of us had to.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Eh. Just beat Emerald and done. Much faster than mastering all red materias

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah, fuck master summon

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Let him play Bionic Commando and at least let him have a chance.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

That's one of the few NES games that I actually beat.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Love Bionic Commando NES. Can't beat the Gameboy version though.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Has to be the hardest game in history

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I just beat this. Man act 6 is just awul

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

6-2

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think it literally took a friend and I 3 or 4 ish hours just to beat that part. Memorization is so key in NG

You're soooo cruel! You might as well have laughed in the child's face! Wait... Ninja Gaiden? I think that's child abuse nowadays! :)

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My 6 year old loves "old fashion" Mario.....

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Do not cite the Deep Magic to me, Witch! I was there when it was written.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I call BS. The first few levels are easy. It only ramps up at the last level.Biggest issue is dying on last boss and being sent 3 level back

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think I made it to the 2nd level on Festers quest once! (uncle Fester from the Adams family) game genie doesn't even work on that game!

Man I wasn’t bad at that game...but beat it? Not a chance.

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

give the kid a chance at least!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do you want to have a PS4 for forever? Because that's how you get to have a PS4 for forever.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Haven't bought any game system since the PS1 back in 1996.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i have a ps3. i'll get a ps4 after the 5 comes out probably. :D

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Exactly

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My son is 9 and I am eager to have his start playing console games. But he has to earn it. To do this, he needs to (2)

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

start with SNES and beat 3 games on each gen before he can move to the next.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

What? I have the exact same rules at our house! :D

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

This sounds a bit like gatekeeping and a way to make them hate video games imo. Did you have to beat games you didn't like/care about?

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I figure this way he'll have a solid background of game mechanics and evolution with a good learning curve.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Poor kid, at least start with consoles made in the 2000s.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Why? Those older consoles have awesome games. With PS2/GC and similar, companies began to trade gameplay for graphics bling, which sucked.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

To me that started when the XBox came out, while graphics did improve it seemed like Microsoft pushed that need to look pretty more.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just do your son a favor and see about hooking it up to a monitor with low latency. The lag on non-CRT tvs is terrible.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Lol alladin or lion king.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Getting out of the cave of wonders is a pain in the ass!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lion king was the worst.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

so much nostalgia for aladin, gotta get them apples!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 hours non stop to beat it. One day I decided it was time.Never again. I was 24...been playing it since I was 5.

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I totally fucking respect this. I rocked Ninja Gaiden back in the day but never beat it. I tip my hat to you sir/madam.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Did that with Blaster master. 8 hours, game genie and my friend tag tag teaming that thing. I still consider that a life accomplishment!

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I bet you didn't tell him there are no save points.

6 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Sure, but there are infinite continues (You're just often sent to the start of the stage, even when dying on the final boss)

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The point is, I bet he turned the system off after getting pretty far.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Getting to the final boss of Ninja Gaiden when I was 8 is probably the greatest achievement of my life.

6 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

I played the shit out of that game and don't think I ever beat it....

6 years ago | Likes 98 Dislikes 3

Same.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The last boss is three fucking bosses in a row. Ninja Gaiden go hard

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Did you make it to the jungle temple trapdoor? That's almost to the end.

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

No, I don't think I remember a jungle, last vivid level memory I need have is a level with shifting rain and wind that was a pain in the ass

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My favorite game mechanic was the boss you had to arrive at with full health, then attack him as much and as fast as you were able because

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Every third move he'd shoot you with undodgeable ball lightning.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My niece got upset trying to play Mega Man 3 after I blasted through the first couple stages. She thought it must be easy.

6 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 4

Seriously, why downvote me?

6 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 10

For complaining about downvotes.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

THEN YOU DO NOT KNOW TRUE HATE

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Megaman X5 stage.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ah. The first Mega Man X was a classic, dare I say perfect, game. I think it just went downhill after that, and never touched one after X4.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

One of the stages in Mega Man X5. Takes place on a Ride Chaser (hoverbike) and requires lots of trial and error to not die.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is it anything like Battletoads speeder level?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Notably easier, and also not that long. It's just annoying.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You could have given him something easier. Like, anything else really.

6 years ago | Likes 187 Dislikes 3

Then it wouldn’t have been a challenge. I’m sure if he tries every day to beat the game until it comes out he’ll get one. Game beaten or not

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ghouls n ghost

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

And make him get the real ending.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You can tell we are all of a certain generation when no one has brought up Dark Souls. I like it.

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Dark Souls is a casual gamers “hard” game.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Meaning an actually fair "hard" game?

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I broke 2 controllers in a week with Dark Souls. Usually is fair but there are some really poorly designed levels.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fair, but I meant that a lot of classic games relied on challenges that could't realistically be beaten except by luck or checking guides.

6 years ago | Likes 0 Dislikes 0

like, just clean that room

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lion King?

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde for Nes

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The US version of the game is broken and made harder because of it. https://tcrf.net/Dr._Jekyll_and_Mr._Hyde#Regional_Differences

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So that's why! I've always wondered about why that game is so hard and now I know, thank you!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It’s like, at least give him ninja gaiden 2. NG1 is impossible.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's not impossible. It has been beaten in 11 minutes 38 seconds.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

THX 11 minutes 38 seconds?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

(+1/30th of a second)

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How about ninja gaiden on the first xbox, i didn't even make the first stage

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That was a great game, I regret selling my Xbox mainly because of that game, and Amped 2

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yep. I beat NG on NES as a kid and it seemed normal. I tried that XBOX remake and felt OLD.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm a little shocked that nobody's mentioned the NES Rambo game. Fuck that game to the deepest pits of Hell...

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

obviously battletoads, also pretty sure the difficulty was kinda the point

6 years ago | Likes 61 Dislikes 0

Yeah, but Zelda is difficult. Battle Toads, and Ninja Gaiden are obnoxiously hard. Especially to a different generation.

6 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

No Castlevania thrown in for fun?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

dr.jekyl and mr.hyde

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Zelda is not that difficult. Zelda 2 is difficult.

6 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Zelda is pretty damn difficult if you play it blind. I probably put 20 hours into that game before looking anything up. Cleared one dungeon.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Both are still easier than Operation: Wolf.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Ghosts and goblins.

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Zelda 2? Easy pezy. Now Zelda, BOTH world's? Not so fast.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've beaten both quests in Zelda multiple times. I've gotten to the thunderbird ONCE in Zelda 2 and was promptly shat on.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

NES Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: water level.

Ghosts n goblins

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

On the one hand, I like it, on the other, you're having him play through a ton of input lag at the improper aspect ratio. Not fair play.

6 years ago | Likes 1903 Dislikes 15

It's okay on the NES classic, no? Is this even on the NES classic?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

It is, and its perfect. All the games on it are.

This rite of passage is only for the strong. Not everyone is chosen.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Oh yea, played guitar hero2 on new lcd, couldn't get through Jordan. Plugged ps2 up to crt and got it 2nd try. 1st was adjusting to latency.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, get that analogue to digital converter from Japan right now. Fairplay first.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How else will humanity, through selective breeding, develop precognition powers?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hey man, the PS5 is gonna be expensive

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

get a laptop. emulator. use HDMI to connect to tv. boom. that's what I do for retro gaming.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Aspect ratio does not cause input lag.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

It's two issues, input lag AND bad aspect ratio. Not one causing the other.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm a gamer and my trigger is when other gamers say input lag is a problem because they have a wireless controller or something

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Left Trigger or Right Trigger?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I had to do a lot of trial and error for something that was "plug and play". But finally got the right settings and now retropie is great.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sorry that was supposed to be a comment for someone else.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Check if the TV has a gaming mode, also turn off any post-processing and filtering options. Won't be as fast as a CRT but it'll help a lot.

6 years ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 1

Some TVs have a "hidden" method that can put it in PC mode that will make it even faster than game mode.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Yep. Had horrible lag on my RetroPie until I did this. Long length of USB extension cable for controller also added input lag for me

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Remember, Nintendo released an NES mini, with hdmi and a bunch of games programmed in.. Ninja Gaiden was one of them..

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This was the thing that pretty much made me throw my RetroPie into the "meh projects" bin for re-use some day. Maybe.

6 years ago | Likes 338 Dislikes 1

Use a FPGA Mist or something alike. The simlulate the hardware, dont emulate it, and often have the original inputs. Amazing stuff.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The aspect ratio is easily changed on pie, and input lag can also be easily overcome.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Lakka on a PC worked far, far better for me. Good screen emulation and low latency.

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Can you please explain "a ton of input lag at the improper aspect ratio" ?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

If you use an original NES on a modern TV.. there is massive lag as the NES is designed for those old CRT tubes. Not for modern LED etc

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Thank you! So.... If I'm reading this right: because of the lag, your gameplay would be frustrating? & Inaccurate, buttons not fast enough?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You would experience just such things..

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also that TV is a 16:9 aspect ratio, and the game is designed for 4:3 (roughly)

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Battletoads used to drive me fucking bonkers

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I haven’t really noticed any input lag.

6 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

If you use an original NES on a modern TV.. there is massive lag as the NES is designed for those old CRT tubes. Not for modern LED etc

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Do you... do you think the light works different or are newer consoles psychic?

it does... well, maybe not the light itself, but the way the light-emitting elements work and how long it takes the signal to get to the >>>

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

lights. heres a list of modern tvs and their input lags at various resolutions and modes: https://www.rtings.com/tv/tests/inputs/input-lag >

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I never noticed any lag with the SuperNES, but the picture definitely isn't quite right.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You kinda need to use an emulator. The old consoles saved on processing power by only rendering every other line, IIRC.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I mean, it's not like it's unplayable. I'd prefer a CRT TV, of course, but aside from the picture not being QUITE there, it works just fine.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

its the scaling mode, most likely. heres a video that explains it well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bUCc5NGEthA

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is it that bad? Is that only an issue with pi machines or does it affect pc emulators as well?

6 years ago | Likes 70 Dislikes 0

PC emulators are king

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think it's actual consoles that get the lag. I have my older systems connected to a DVDO Edge set to 4:3 and gaming mode on the 43" UHD TV

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I should get a CRT TV or two for my consoles and an A/V switch box.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's not that bad

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Especially if you aren't used to the correct ratio. The input lag can be noticeable but you can adapt. This game is just stupid hard

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Its the tv.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My PC emulation is spot on with a wired USB XBox clone controller.

6 years ago | Likes 72 Dislikes 0

Which emulator? Both of the ones I tried are lagging g

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't have issues playing on my Nvidia shield. I've played bad emulation, but most is perfectly fine.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same. Got retroarch set up with basically every system known to mankind and it works well.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

LCD TVs aren't built for low latency. 100ms delay on your TV show is irrelevant. But it's very noticeable in a game.

6 years ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 0

[Laughs in Plasma] I love playing on my Analogue Super Nt.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What sorry excuse for an LCD do you have with 100ms latency?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

theyre getting better all the time, but basically any TV that wasnt made specifically for gaming probably has >100ms latency if not in a >>>

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

special "gaming mode", especially cheaper ones. and note: TV, not Monitor. https://www.rtings.com/tv/tests/inputs/input-lag >>>

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I agree, but they are getting better. My lcd TV's game mode gives me 11ms, which isn't 0 like a crt, but it's doable

6 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Yeah, every single model of LCD out there does at least one frame of buffering. The aftermarket ZisWorks kits avoid that but that's $$$$.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I used to work QA on Guitar Hero, very timing intensive. We called the giant LCD tv room the punishment room.

6 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

I was really into GH a decade or so ago. Honest to goodness it was bullshit AND dogshit to calibrate. If it didn't 'just work' then RIP.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yep. Calibration screens for music games tend to have your brain trick itself into thinking things are lined up, when they arent really.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We recently had a problem trying to get GH to play well on a 60'' LED screen, after calibration the audio delay was 180ms, but curiously 1/?

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

after disabling all video processing the audio was still a problem, and after hooking it up to speakers it was perfectly in sync. 2/?

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

So if u play it on a gaming monitor?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My LG would like to have a word with you.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Had a modern LG and Samsung with their "game modes" on. Still very noticeable and feels absolutely terrible to switch from a gaming monitor.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

A lot of TVs get down to 10-12ms in game mode, but most, by default, run at 100+. Gaming monitors often run under 5.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I personally have a triple 27" 1440p144Hz monitor setup, running at 1440p120, clean 120fps gameplay, clean & easy 60fps YT/Twitch output

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Isn't that was the gaming mode is for?

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

100+Hz monitors are *built* to have sub-10ms refresh times, often built having like 5ms/200Hz refresh but given leeway for like 8.3ms/120Hz.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes. However, usually they can't reduce their latency as low as a monitor can.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Too many NES games seemed fucking impossible. superman anyone?

6 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

And Astyanex.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I finally finished Castlevania a couple years ago. Never did manage Castlevania III. The game is brutal. I see why people say the first one-

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

-isn't that hard now.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I believe the English Castlevania 3 is actually MORE difficult than the Japanese version. try the Jpn version next time playing it?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The jet ski level in Battletoads.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's I nightmare I had long since forgotten. Politely, f you.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wasn't that game responsible for the eventual demise of Atari?

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Why did I try sooooooooo many times!!!!!! It was fucking awful

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes and no. It was a good thing to point at as the ultimate death blow. Atari: Game Over is a good doc on it. Free on Prime.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Supes was hard as hell. Bionic Commando on the NES was my personal impossible mountain to climb.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

The Bionic Commando map was/is so confusing, I've never made it particularly far. Sky Shark was my favorite (other than SMB3 Obviously)

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Such a great game. There was a trick to earning a full health bar early on. It took a while but you were basically unstoppable after.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I always charged ahead and forgot which communicator to use.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I can't complete Castlevania.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Castlevania wouldn't be that hard if it werent for how getting hit sends you flying backwards and how many pitfalls there are. I beat it tho

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Input delay and fixed jump didn't help, either. Fucking medusa heads.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Awesome that you beat it. Good shit.

I usually sit them next to the TV, in the line of sight, to set the tone

"might as well win, right? I shouldnt be the only one who gets something out of this."

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The real question is if he can beat the old tmnt games

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Eyestrain, carpal tunnel.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

He gets Battletoads.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The best I can do is $50

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Get it right pal, Battletoads on multiplayer. That is the true test of a warrior.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

that's a punishment

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

i like it

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Get behind the Bosses and they are bugged. Sad when you discover this.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That shit is impossible.

after i beat the log run i had to pause it and lie down

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Battletoads isn't that hard apart from the one busted fucking level

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Did you beat it to experience the other levels?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In my youth me and a friend used to play it all the time

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Only Brian Gaar has beat Battletoads.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I actually managed to finish it when I was in my early teens, played with my brother. Tried it again recently... nope, no...

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh God, turbo tunnel flashbacks...gaahh.

6 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 0

The levels get worse...I've managed to beat it before...

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That was the last level for me

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Never gotten past that. Played it when i was 10 years old and 23 years later and i still haven't gotten past that.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

You could learn this skill....but not from a Jedi

That’s the right answer. That fucking game is ungodly hard. I did beat Ninja Gaiden 1&2 and Metroid, but never Battletoads.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

That driving section is insane.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

There are 2. The internet had to teach me, cuz i never beat the 1st

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I beat it on an emulator going at 50% of the speed.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Gonads and strife

I beat it on the Gameboy.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

what does he get for beating “Silver Surfer”?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

came here to ask this. Thank you.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I always wondered if that game was hard. Haven’t played since I was 7

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I think that those underground hover bike jumping levels were insanely difficult and almost impossible.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Supposedly it was made that way to make people buy instead of rent. Not too many kids could get through that in a weekend.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Bastards. I’m pretty sure I had a game genie or cheat codes to skip the level.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Let me put it this way: The Rare Replay version has unlimited lives and a rewind feature and it's still almost impossble.

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I played it on an emulator couple of years ago (after AVGN episode). Even with the saving I got tired of replaying the levels (1/2)

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And I stopped playing on that moving snakes level. i first tried whole level without saving, then parts of it, then gave up completely (2/2)

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Came here to say this. I couldn't even do it then.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I still couldn't beat the Clinger-Winger without pause cheesing. That game is straight-up sadistic.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Battletoads is one of the very few games I never finished. I like challenging games, but Battletoads was just frustrating to play

6 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

There was this game called Crysalis or something to that effect that I could NOT figure out. Rpg.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

im actually proud to say i beat battletoads, i played the pit and motorbike lvl countless times, theres a pattern to the courses iirc

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I don’t recall ever finishing a game - well maybe one of the Monkey Islands

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Seeing as we're on the subject - I'll actually quit games like Civ5 when I get to a point where victory is assured. I could spend another 1/

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

couple hours grinding it out, taking each city across the planet...but why? I basically already won, I'd rather have those couple of hours.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Do you know anyone thats done that? Cuz thats legend.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I made my 12 year old daughter play Ninja Gaiden until she beat it. It took her about a month.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

A metal of honor

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Which metal? I wouldn't take anything less than aluminum

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Fuck the jet ski level fuck that level straight to hell

6 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Beating that level required lots of time and memory. Did it a few times single player but 2 players was near impossible

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don’t think I ever beat it I think I just rage quit and never went back

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Imagine completing it and dying right after. That’s when I stopped playing the game.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Had that happen exactly once and could never complete the stage again.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yea if I recall ~30 years ago it goes faster and faster and you zoom out the screen into a new level where you walk around again. Died there

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That faster and faster part is what always got me. I'd always forget the pattern and panic.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Man I hated that game after never being able to get past that level. What sick fuck would create a level that hard

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0
