For centuries, popular media has sold us a Cleopatra of flawless alabaster skin, kohl-heavy eyes, and a face built for the silver screen. But history tells a very different story. Cleopatra VII was of Macedonian Greek descent, part of the Ptolemaic dynasty that ruled Egypt for nearly 300 years. Ancient sources - including her own coinage - show a woman with a strong, aquiline nose, a pronounced chin, and a face that historians describe as striking rather than conventionally “beautiful” by modern standards. Plutarch himself wrote that it wasn’t her physical beauty that made her irresistible - it was her intellect, wit, and magnetic presence. She spoke up to nine languages and was a shrewd political strategist who outmanoeuvred Rome for over two decades. The real Cleopatra didn’t need Hollywood’s version of beauty. She had something far more dangerous

"O Antony! Nay, I will take thee too."

She was said to be the first (and last) of the Ptolemaic dynasty to speak the Egyptian language.

It's almost as if those women were dolled up to look good in a Hollywood movie and not a historically accurate documentary. Funny how that works.

What? She didn't look like Liz Taylor? Next you're gonna say that General Patton didn't look like George C. Scott!

She had something far more dangerous, an army. What every young woman wants, really.

Wait. Is that why my niece is collecting so many stuffed teddy bears?

She will unify the Lower Kingdom under her rule, and sweep into the Levant, crushing all that resist beneath the wheels of her plush, adorable chariot.

Which cleopatra, there were like a dozen of them

You mean the gold snake bra isn’t historically accurate!?!

Yet Liz Taylor still portrayed those other qualities—her real appeal—to a T. She may not have looked like Liz, but she appears to have ACTED like her according to ur description!
