Absolutely wild how much effort went into making the spacecraft in Star Wars awesome and then just....not having a bunch of good space battles. For my fellow sci-fi nerds, the Expanse has, IMHO, the best space battles ever made. Torpedos, nukes, PDCs, they have it all and it's fucking glorious.
And they do.... as good of a job as can probably be done showing the vastness of space. It's still too pew pew, the books do a great job with the distance tactics but solid B+ compared to basically any other ship battles
I know the Empire doesn't have great pilots, but they should really teach them that they don't have rear facing guns, and to stop speeding in front of the x-wings. /s
I don't know much about these kinds of devices, but it seems to me like the chair is moving the wrong way around. To simulate g-force it should move opposite, so if you bank right, the chair should bank left. It should move up if you speed up, and down if you brake - from the video it's hard to make out if it's doing that correctly. It kinda just seems to follow whatever the game in doing, instead of actually simulating g-force.
The ROTS opening has a pretty good amount of capital ship fire, but honestly that's the only good counter example I can think of. Granted, SW doesn't often show major fleet battles on-screen.
On second watch, this animation has a lot of capital ship fire in the establishing shot it just goes down after the focus shifts to the dogfighting. Probably on the assumption that viewer attention will be pulled to that, which very much was the case for me
Is this a game that actually gives you full control of the vehicle, or is it one of those lame-ass hand-holding on-rails games that makes you follow pre-set paths and prevents you from doing anything that might make you lose?
LazerusK
Neat setup, but the physics and controls of the game look super screwy. More like a on-rails shooter from a 90s arcade

What he's doing with that stick has basically no effect on the ship, it's mostly aim

That's ridiculous. There's no way a snowspeeder csn keep up with Tie Fighters.

I dug the og lightsaber/flight star wars arcade game. Fuck that duel with Darth Vader, fucking cheater.
dingybasement350
I'm so glad the lightsaber shit was a bonus round because I was terrible at that part.
beneaththewillowtree
Don’t forget to turn off your lightsaber after you beat him
TexMexHex
Never beat that summa bitch. Was that a real thing?!
beneaththewillowtree
Yes! There’s an Easter egg afterwards with the voice of the Emperor… “so be it, Jedi”

Mmmh this game gives some nasty nausea. Mostly because you're kind of not free flying but get the impression that you are

The one thing that always makes me sad with both the fan and official fleet battles, is that you almost never really see the capital ships shoot.

time to go to dave n busters for this game

We get commercials for that place but the closest one is about 50 miles away.

What does a quarter cost these days? (I'm well aware these games were never a quarter, but the word "token" makes me throw up a little in my mouth).
dingybasement350
They don't even have tokens. It's a preloaded card you have to swipe.
