You shouldn't use blankets in cat shelters because they can freeze. I think you're supposed to use straw, which traps the heat better making the shelter warmer.
I would love to have something like this - we have a stray problem, but the cats belonging to my neighbour's would take over. I wish people kept their pets inside.

my mom did something like this, she doesnt have any real money, she begged the town she lived in to help her get them all fixed so they couldn't make more strays, they said no even though she found a shelter that would do them for $30 each, then the town ordered her to stop feeding and sheltering them and she was arrested, they smashed her cat shelters, and put rat poison in the cat food
She couldnt afford a lawyer and Iw as in college at the time and couldn't help, but the judge blew a gasket-
he ordered the town to give me mom $25,000 if she agreed that if she would keep doing this she use some of the money to get the strays fixed, and she enthusiastically agreed

George was SO SOFT too! I expected they'd be rough like goat or cow hair, but that was soft fluffy downy fur on him/her. Obviously we didn't want to stress our porch possum but we *had* to try petting him/her at least once cause we're from out west originally and there's no possums there. Mum's fascinated by them, thinks they're just the coolest and she gets excited like a teen girl seeing her favourite boy band every time she spots one.
