I’m in my 30s and divorced, but recently ran into an early college fling that flipped my lost hope for love upside down. This girl is an 11/10. She’s just fantastic. I may have found a partner for good. I’m surprising her with a weekend trip to San Fran (cheapest flights on short notice) and want to show her a grand time. She knows we are flying, just not where, she’s super stoked. Neither of us drink, we are very much into feeling the local vibes/food, probably a museum or two (which one?!), but what else? I’ve seen a lot of y’all are from there, I wouldn’t mind meeting up either! Any advice would help! Thank you all for how awesome you’ve been to me.

The pirate store below Dave Egger's writing school is fun but also intilectual enough to impress.

An 11/10 that doesn't drink? oh man, hang on to that one. I'm legit jealous.

I know right! She’s funny, smart as a whip, driven, and cute as hell. I didn’t think it was possible anymore.

Their library system has free walking tours. You can try https://sf.funcheap.com for diff ideas too. Also Muir Woods/wine tours are good

Go see Alcatraz and cuff her?

If you are renting a car Monterey is about a 2 hour drive with a nice aquarium and sea otters. Take her to see the sea otters.

Alcatraz is rad. Make reservations soon, though.

Time to brush up on five seasons of Nash Bridges to get a feel for the sights of San Francisco.

Go to Lands End and/or Marin Headlands for sunset!

The exploratorium is a blast if you're interested in science at all. I think the tactile dome is closed because of Covid, but if not, do it!

Check out Fort Point. It has a cool fort you can check out and there is surfing that is fun to watch assuming the waves are good.

It's pretty close to the giant redwoods. That's something special to see. Also, eat Chinese. I like New Moon, but there isn't a bad one.

If you're gonna have a car, you can also go to Santa Cruz, which has a very fun downtown and of course the Boardwalk

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is free to walk around, but you can buy tickets for rides. There's also a huge arcade with laser tag

In downtown Santa Cruz, Laili is a great place for dinner

The Dali/Disney museum at the presidio is pretty cool. China Town is neat, obviously the piers are a good spot to wander. Watch for poop.

Ghirardelli factory, Boudin Bakery, Alcatraz, GG bridge, Sausalito, Lombard Street, Palace of Fine Arts, Fisherman's Warf, Big Sur.

Think I covered all those. No noticeable poop two decades ago.

Catch a Giants game...take in the view from the Marin headlands...Tommy's Joynt for lunch or dinner or a drink...DM me and I'll get ya/

tickets to the de Young or Palace of fine arts

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also, and I say this gently and with a welcoming heart: while you're there don't call it "san fran". It'll put off all the locals

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

SF (ess eff), the City, or San Francisco. If you're anywhere in the bay area and you say The City, they'll know you mean SF.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

San Fran and Frisco will mark you as an Outsider immediately and while most people aren't gonna be MEAN, it's better to go with the flow

Ferry building is pretty good for food and shopping during the day. Fisherman's wharf has good seafood.

De young museum is great art museum. It has a tower with an amazing 360 view. Def recommend.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Academy of science is in golden gate park across from de young. Cool double museum one trip kinda thing

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

tDrive across the Golden Gate bridge in the afternoon, have dinner in Sausalito (Scomas mentioned is nice) and view the city lights

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tenderloin District. That is all.

Yum. Thank you.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Googled it, that looks PERFECT!!!

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I would *not* go there on a date, dude. it is not super safe.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I live less than an hour from SF. The Tenderloin has some rough spots just fyi. I normally avoid when in the city. The Mission neighborhood…

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

…has some wonderful local life and is outside of the main city center. Golden Gate park is wonderful. Ferry Building and Golden Gate Bridge.

North Beach for Italian food. You can also take BART to the East Bay (Oakland) or the ferry to Alameda Island.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Pier 39 has it all: Alcatraz (book it ahead of time or you'll be sorry), the Aquarium, and of course Boudin Bakery. Not too far from there-

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

is Ghirardelli Square, which has a lot of touristy shopping and of course CHOCOLATE. It's a long walk though, so be prepared

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

BRING LAYERS IT'S COLD. Even in the summer. Also, Don't skip the aquarium- it goes under the bay and that's a pretty unique experience

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For something a little more upscale there's the Ferry Building which has a lot of shops and food, too!

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There's also Haight Ashbury which has a lot of cool shops and ofc the history there. Plus one of my fav spots- Cha Cha Cha!

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Haight Ashbury (or simply The Haight) will definitely feel more like a "local vibe" though there isn't *really* one local vibe in the city

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you do go to Cha Cha Cha, don't skip the fried new potatoes.
