#5 "Handicapped by a stroke and financially ruined, Burr died at a boardinghouse in 1836." if only he hadn't splurged on that coconut

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

#50 that's not how that works

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's because the camera scans top to bottom, so you're seeing the first frame on top and the next in the reflection.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Right

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hello to the pippin!

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Your memes are fresh and delightful, but I would like a dump of Pippin, please.

Yeah, that's a secure job with room and board right there.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Where the fuck is Eldridge? And why is it horrific?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tagalog isn’t pronounced the way it’s spelled. I called it that for years until someone from the Philippines set me straight.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

#4 "Inscrutable Odysseus said nothing; he bowed his head in silence, contemplating his murderous plans."

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

#1 is ir reference to today's reality where people are happy to be slaves?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Can someone explain #41 to my friend? Also, is #30 just for the sake of surrealism or am I missing a joke?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Vibe Police here. Your post was investigated, and found to have...neutral vibes! You are awarded +1. A lot of new memes?! Nice job!

6 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 6

So people use "vibes" like this now do they? Or just on the internet?

ELD-RIDGE

I live near an Eldridge road and had to read it a couple times.

No, they're talking about a zombie movie where civil rights activists return from the dead to eat Nazis.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Hey, he went and got an education at Eldridge U. Show some respect!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You spell 'Miskatonic University' funny

Woo! Eldridge High! Go Horrors!

Charlie died in 1965. She belonged to Churchill, so those anti-nazzi curses were about as genuine as they get.

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

There is no evidence of (and considerable proof AGAINST) the claim that Charlie belonged to Churchill.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Edit: Churchill died in 65... apparently charlie is still kicking? Google seems conflicted

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Well, there's at least one other species that keeps parroting Churchill...

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Charlie was hatched in the 60s and the claim its older was firmly rejected by Churchils daughter and no evidence that it is older.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

#2 ok... what do we do with this information?

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I am sure Netflix will make a docuseries out of it soon.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Do something nice for a jellyfish. I heard something about peeing on em. Try that.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I don't know about you but I'm gonna feel guilty for a while about my smartass species screwing with babies of a barely sentient species

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Don’t. Some are functionally immortal and others are a plague on parts of the world. They can also thrive in polluted waters that kill fish.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I still feel bad that they're put through a disorienting process that lasts for several days

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That link had something wrong with the recognition/cookie permission banner software wise

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh, that sucks, I opened it up 2x but it rerouted me and then brought me back to it. Hmmmm.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Malware : Installed !

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Unfortunately the post in nonsense. The wiki page doesn't even list that as a suspected hatching date because it's so non-credible.

6 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

So... Incredible?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wikipedia article uses “was” and that it was only known to have hatched before 1965.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dot

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The bird is almost certainly closer to 60, not 120, and the claims Churchill owned it are laughable at best.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Can’t confirm it’s still alive BUT I have a friend in Surrey who has agreed to find the garden centre and confirm

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well?

6 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

It's not that old but it may still be alive.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

As far as I can tell she was alive and well, if slightly grumpy, in 2014. Can't find anything after that.

6 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 1

Unless my math is really bad, which is entirely possible, the post clocks her at 117yrs in 2016.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

“alive and well, if slightly grumpy, in 2014”. Me too, buddy, me too...

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Interesting news regardless. You came through friend, pls take this upvote

6 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Only God knows what happened to OP though.

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Still squawking out memes.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The pickle rick thing isnt relativity its just rollig shutter

6 years ago | Likes 387 Dislikes 1

But it's Tumblr so they need to try and make it more significant than it is

6 years ago | Likes 150 Dislikes 2

Thank you that really annoyed me

6 years ago | Likes 58 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Nowhere near relativity. A typical TV show would be animated at around 24 frames per second. In 1/24 second, light travels 7,792 miles.

6 years ago | Likes 51 Dislikes 1

Except that's not the relevant time, the screen's response time is, which is milliseconds. Still far from relativity, but a lot faster than>

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

pls explain for my dumb friend

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

framerate.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

On the surface, it's the distance from Chicago to Hong Kong. Straight through the Earth would be 7,926 miles. Bit more than 8 inches.

6 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

I'm gonna say you're right, but I also got dumped after making this argument with a girlfriend. Use this knowledge wisely.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

...which is a product of relativity, of the fact that light has travel time means a rolling shutter gets a different image than a global one

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 13

No its literally the mechanical way the camera works

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

AND IT WOULDN'T MATTER IF LIGHT DIDN'T HAVE TRAVEL TIME.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

It definitely still would

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The phone this was shot on uses a global shutter.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Yes it would

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Also the phone theyre using has a global shutter. So no, the rolling shutter is not the cause, light's travel time is the cause

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Not quite. The top of the sensor will begin scanning and will see one frame, but if the frame changed before the sensor finished then it

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Record the next frame as though it were the same frame being displayed as when it started

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's a side effect of not being able to capture the complete image all at once, while photographing a changing scene

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

yes and that doesn't matter except that light has travel time. If light didn't travel as defined by relativity then a rolling shutter would

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

record the same frame as a global one. It's literally what they're talking about with the photo of an eclipse.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

Right, but that's that what's going on. They have misidentified the phenomenon. I think you and I are talking about different things

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No. No it wouldn’t.the reflection is different solely because the shutter is slow and the image on screen changed but was captured earlier.
