I really don’t handle heat very well. Every summer I suffer. Two years ago I lived in a small apartment on the top floor of the building. It was so hot that I was perpetually tired and just angry all the time because of the heat.
Finally, I bought a portable AC unit. Would rather deal with the noise than the heat.

I used to live in Phoenix Arizona, occasionally without AC. I have tips for you @OP!
1. bowl of ice cubes behind a table fan makes a temporary cool breeze
2. Old garden hose, hung up along outdoor roofline poked with a needle every 0.5 meters or so makes for an excellent misting device.
3. If you’re lucky enough to own a bathtub, just…cold baths. If water is expensive, it’s gross, but just don’t drain the tub. Just a cold soaking tub. Shower after elsewhere if possible.

My part of USA used to hit 35c/95f on the hottest day of the year, rarely hitting 38/100.
A few years back, it hit 52/125 for a couple days. Hotter than anywhere else in earth.

Those are the maximum values, during the day. Yes, it's hot, but that's not the main problem. The REAL issue is that it doesn't drop under 22-23°C during the night (25-26°C in the cities), so the heat only accumulates. It's been ten days and we still have at least another week to go through.

You've obviously not spent a lot of time with the ocean. I used to surf a lot and I've seen people more experienced than me be dragged out by underwater currents. In straya the lifeguards would get them on their jetskis, can't speak for France.

Sure I have. I heard a lot of these drownings were in ponds and local streams. Ocean is a very different story.

A lot of it is due to them swimming in places with high currents and being caught by tides.

Well... that's a tragedy. Apparently there's even a well trained footballer who drowned, so it can really happen to anyone. I'm affraid that the hotter it will be, the more there'll be accidents and deaths. Also, people might want to go where it's not crowded, but it can be very tricky to know if a place is unsafe to swim (with baines, or dangerous currents, etc), if it's not clearly indicated. (like that, for example :
