Yeah. Coordinated males are becoming a thing of the past....

I had this in my public elementary school every year in the spring back in the 90s. Administration would make pancakes on a flattop and serve the whole school. Honestly never struck me as something odd or out of place since a pile of other schools in my district did it. Pancake batter is CHEAP and usually just needs water - 4x Costco bags cost like $40 and made 500 pancakes which was enough for everybody. They never ran out of pancakes but the kids usually devoured the maple syrup.

Not his first pancake rodeo.

The pancakes I have to serve kids in my school are half this size, premade frozen ones in a box.

Oh sure, I toss food one time in the cafeteria and I get detention 😏 source https://www.instagram.com/chriscakesstl/

If you drop it you still gotta eat it

Feeding kids? Isn't that illegal now? Idk its so hard to keep up

1 day ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You mean a school that actually makes their food ?

1 day ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A lot of schools make the food themselves now. At least here in CA. I'm pretty sure other states do it too. Not all schools of course, but definitely more than when I was a kid. Here's my district

"Here's two pancakes made from batter out of a plastic jug containing all sorts of horrible shit you can't pronounce. That'll be $20. The high fructose corn syrup is extra."

No fuckin way do a bunch not get dropped on the floor.

pancake socials

Not only was I socially awkward but physically, too. If they tried this with me, two or three people would've ended up in the ER with plate shards stabbed into them and there would've been at least one fire. Pops manning the grill would be sat off to the side on a step, wrapped in a first responder's blanket with his head in his hands and a 1,000-yard stare, finally understanding what his brothers went through being deployed in Vietnam.

Hahaha

Some 10th grader is just sitting in the corner, rocking back and forth muttering "HOW? The plates were PAPER..."

I would've rather gone hungry than let people see me trying to catch something.

1 day ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It looks like the dude aims it perfectly for a few of them to not have to move to catch. Some might not look like they wanna play.

lol. I dropped my coffee and bagel in front of an Army COL but managed to catch them both before they hit the ground. “You must have been an athlete” 😂 nah…I had to develop ninja skills to save myself from myself. I feel you…

I call my ninja skills "cat-like reflexes"

1 day ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I’m hoping this is a cat without ninja like reflexes lol. Why can’t you see or play the gifs when you post in responses?? 🤦‍♀️

Close enough

Mine are more "cow-like reflexes"

Private school?

1 day ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 5

Must be. Public schools have a fucked up relationship with Aramark and its peers.

The pancake man? My public elementary school had someone stop by and do this once a year. He even tried to get the pancake on the plate while the kid was at the other end of the gym. Pretty fun stuff for an 8 year old, ngl.

Man I had a lame elementary school lol

Chaminade schools are private, Catholic institutions. You see the name a few times on different pieces of clothing.

Thanks. I couldn't read the clothes on my pgone

Every student seems to be a boy, so I'm guessing yes.

I have a close friend who works in high-school education. She worked in private schools for 15 years doing Math, Science and Equine. Now she makes twice as much doing Special Education in public school.
Private Schools often do not pay that well. They are also susceptible to embezzlement and lack of oversight.

My public school here in Ontario implemented a "breakfast club" program where any student could come in early and get a free breakfast, no questions asked. That said, I think it was mostly non-perishable foods, they didn't have a fancy skillet like this. And it was mostly put on by volunteers and largely supported by fund raising. I never needed it, I mostly knew about it cause my mom helped to run it.

idk about this school in particular, but having fresh food made like this isn't completely non-existent in public schools. For example, here's a clip from the district I work for (SAUSD, southern CA, very low income, high beeds, Title 1 schools)

My mom did this twice a week for kids at her school in Canada. Out of the teachers own pockets. Going in early to do it. Public school. Sometimes teachers just care. But also, the kids grades went up.

Your mom is awesome!

Seems like pancakes

I was gonna say children, but I guess pancakes is valid too

It seems you missed the comma. Their comment was a dig at American school kids being underfed (or rather, not at all fed) by their school.

1 day ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

I read that as un-derfed at first, maybe I should sleep and not be on imgur at 3 am

23 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And it seems you missed the intent of my question. Humour. I am aware of the real issue presented.
