Why do slasher movies always have unnecessary sex scenes where they get killed soon after

In Friday the 13th Jason drowns because the lifeguards are having sex so he takes his revenge on horny counselors. That’s where it started

Because being in extreme situations while naked makes them even more extreme and awkward. It's an effective tool.

Because it's about the message. If you have sex, or enjoy it, you die horribly.

To scare kids out of having sex

Willing to bet it stems from the purity backlash following free love and the AIDS crisis.

Because they were generally reinforcing purity culture in some way. "It's ok for these characters to die, they weren't saving themselves for marriage." It's fucking gross, and that's not even the only way it manifests. Racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic; pretty much anyone white christians are scared of.

Because that's what the genre is about. If there wasn't taboo themes and punishment for breaking the taboo, it wouldn't be a slasher movie.

Early trope about virgins not dying because purity or some bullshit. Cult/demon stuff flips that

Why? Because that film made $90 million on a $2 million budget.

A lot of movies have unnecessary sex scenes. You can easily imply they had sex without actually showing it. Its a huge waste of time.

Everything in a slasher is unnecessary, that's the point !

Most horror movies have historically been low budget shlock that relies on shock value rather than anything even vaguely related to quality. Sex scenes are a very cost efficient way to shock/titillate/whatever an audience.

It's a trope/cliche all because the first few slasher flicks did it

They even put that shit in one of the Alien movies...

Horror movies historically have been about transgressing social norms, then violently reinforcing them. Now it's just one of the tropes of the form.

Hayes code; anyone who is shown to be promoting degenerate acts cannot survive to the end of the film/novel as a way of reinforcing that immorality will never end well for those committing it.

If you get naked titty on screen, you will triple your movie sales.

It's basic economics

Why are all the good sex scenes interrupted by murder? Like, let me finish I'll only be another 5 seconds.
