Does Ted not think that Texas and New York are in the same country, or is he so eager to not help his countrymen that he’s personally degrading America’s “status”?
It's not for him, it's that if people are going to die or watch their children die because of him, he doesn't want to be there to face the dangerous fallout of people coming after him for that.
When I lived in southeast Georgia I kept my ac tuned to 78 in the summer and 68 in winter. It’s actually been a recommendation for a long time by power companies. It keeps it comfortable enough.
Yeah, my AC runs all day and my downstairs is 75 and my upstairs (Cape cod style home built in 1950) is considerably hotter, but there is no thermostat up there, and I installed auxillary fans to help blow the air up because it wasn't making it up there when we bought it in 2018.
The difference is that when you don't set your AC to 78 in Ted Cruz's state, the power grid explodes and people die while the Cruz family goes on holiday.
All because his evil evil daughters keep forcing him to go on vacation when his state is in crisis. It's not like he is and always has been a useless pile of fat and cowardice given the rough shape of a human.
New yorks electrical grid is supplimented by nuclear and hydro electric power from Canada, becuase texas is isolationist they have no exterior power grids to call on when power consumption spikes.
the problems with the texan power grid are multiple, but the one year that multiple died from freezing to death in their sleep was becuase there was not enough generation, which would have been cured if texas had been connected to nearby states and could have purchased their excess

Anyone on airport watch to catch Raphael heading out to somewhere cooler?

Advice from the Senator from Quintana Roo.

+1 For me, I can tag more Canadian politicians than on other sites. Even still, I re-post more to bluesky.

It's okay my electronics are all turned off including my AC, because the power is out.

Sick burn on whatever country Mamdani is in!

Only the 1% in Texas can afford to turn on the AC.
SwissScars
only 1% of them can work out how.
AgamemnonsMemes
78 isn't even bad, thats 25C, which is warm, but not hot.
stayingalive4life
In a first world country, their senators don’t tuck tail and make a run for the border as soon as their constituents faces hardships.
JohnnySilverballs
Meanwhile Ted Cruz flees his state every time the grid goes down because it's too cold.
Hexidimentional
which is crazy because he's from canada

Someone should tell Ted that we are not considered a developed nation anymore

That community note should be available across all platforms.

The AC is on if it is set to "78"
ThisNameIsMaybeTaken
It is nearly 2 AM, my weather app says it's 79°F (25°C or so) and feels like 86°F.
I hate fossil fuel companies.
Starcatcher1986
It's over 100 degrees this weekend. For a lot of people, setting the ac to 78 and maxing out the capabilities of their ac is the same thing.

Ted Cruz is a lying sack of sh*t!!

If someone tells you a process that's supposed to take 10,000 years will instead take 100 years, and it ends up taking 110 years, they were right.

That's rich coming from the guy in charge of the state whose power grid is held together with scotch tape.
Sonicschilidogs
Nah, that cost shareholders too much, so now it's held together with chewed up bubblegum.

SinStar87
think the problem is so much energy usage will damage the infrastructure; melt lines and blow up transformers, rather than they just need more power?

Fair, i was referencing new Yorks issue tbc

Yup. The problem isn't always available capacity, but the ability to get it to people.
