I'm sure they care more about the straight being closed than Cuba being blockaded. As for control of the straight itself, I don't think the world will care much at all so long as traffic is flowing and Iran doesn't charge too much
Rubio is actually currently the front runner for the GOP 2028 nomination. Even the Republicans hate Vance that much, and the other option is basically DeSantis. Fun stuff, huh.
"WAAAAAAH! Won't the world come save the US from this war we started? Also the war is over and we won and we don't need any help. All the other nations just take advantage of us and are completely ungrateful. Why aren't they helping?"
Watching the USA punch itself in the dick and then ask why their balls hurt is fucking amazing.
Little Marco and his clown shoes. Dude probably wears boys shoes because every appendage is small. He & Rhonda got their white boots together in the boys department.
It's funny because these people are so dumb they don't consider buying the exact same shoes in their size and commending Trump for getting their size right on his guess
These two things are not the same. Nor is it okay for them, alone, to control the straight. Just like its not okay for Dump to try and rename the Gulf. They don't belong to one country.
+1 Some of Trump's profiteering is tied to his use of the military, while sacrificing protections for the environment, and human rights. For example in Iran alone, the USA has carried out a campaign of carpet bombings, and targeting civilian institutions, and emergency workers with double tap strikes. The pattern of war crimes warrants a unified condemnation from the international community.
And yetvthat community stays silent. I hate how this is like the 30's again where some single ruler fuck over the world and do whatever they want while eveeyone is watching and hopibg it will go over by itself.
Tbf he's basically filling a role. The Republican party had to select him as their leader, then support his run(s) for office, then suppprt his policies. Congress particularly, for failing to function as the balance, choosing instead to be partners in the policies, and sharing the responsibility for the horrific outcomes, war crimes included. 🖖 #FreePalestine
Some harmful effects of a rogue nation can be mitigated while retaining civility. Given the pattern and frequency of war crimes carried out by the USA, some unified action is warranted from the international community. Perhaps suspension of veto power, and voting, could be an alternative to sanctions and embargoes.
You’re not wrong, but ya know, a gentle reminder that huge part of why this administration is even in power in the first place is because the last one cared more about protecting the imperial genocide than winning the election. I fear people are going to learn the wrong lesson and think the issue is just Trump or just the Republicans. Just my 2¢
Important to note that the current US admin overplayed its hand protecting that same genocide and the ongoing project to expand Israel. Iran has controlled the strait for decades. That "now" Rubio threw in is intentional. It's a thinly veiled lie, as if Iranian control of the strait is new. These people are jumped up used car salesmen...
Power only exists if it is used and used frequently. While in theory they could close the straight, up until they actually did so it remained hypothetical and not 'real', per se. Now that they've done it and so far have successfully prevented the US from forcing it open, the power exists and becomes a known tool for them to use.
They've controlled but not put up a toll. These dum dums went and fucked it up now Iran will try to set up a toll and recuperate the damages they caused trying to distract from the pedo presi
What is new is that they now know the US won't be able to call it's ally swarm down on them for fucking with it. Which is why they're so bold about enforcing tolls and national bans.

Now. Punishing the civilians, after decades of doing that and no benefit. Those sanctions should only be in effect if we see them building up or letting Russia get too much hardware installed.
It’s truly a top national security concern, as benign as they may seem.
Has been insane for the last 40 years. I understand the initial overreaction to the missile crisis (fuck Russia) but it has gone on far too long. I blame almost everything on Reagan. Fuck Ronald Reagan.
and talking about air strikes on Cuba is like a grown ass man kicking an emaciated dog. It's ridiculous... but exactly the kind of thing a bully like trump would do to make himself feel big
Sure is. The dual blockade (both Iran and us) is in no way more acceptable though. Cuba doesn’t really have 20% of the world’s supply of anything other than Cubans.
i disagree. the iranian blockade of hormuz is a reasonable and justifiable defensive measure in response to an unprovoked, illegal attack, invasion, and multiple war crimes. the embargo of cuba is unprovoked and unjustified.
Reasonable and justifiable? Maybe. That’s not what makes things acceptable though. There world isn’t going through a major economic crisis because Cuba is being blockaded.
The unjustifiable blockade of Cuba (the Monroe doctrine has finally this year managed to make every country in the western hemisphere hate the us) isn’t going to bolster the prospects of populist political parties who always use economic turmoil to garner power, the leaders of which inevitably try to dismantle democracies.
Well, they do pretty darn well for being under an embargo, imagine how they’d do if they weren’t 👀 then people might get ideas that we don’t need billionaires and other capitalists to make the world go round. And we can’t have that
Yea without the segregation from the international market it's really difficult to sell the: "yea socialism sounds cool on paper, but no attempt in real life ever succeeded " cliché.
No way the billionaires gonna let that happen though
Indeed. Also starting to learn that things companies do for "our" convenience usually means " we're hiding garbage in your food so we can make more money.
They definitely have issues, but I’d remind you that they have a higher life expectancy, literacy rate, homeownership rate, lowered infant and maternal mortality rates, more access to higher education and healthcare than the US, including a lung cancer vaccine and even Alzheimer’s treatments we don’t have.
The US has spent so much resources into destroying Cuba The US could've built free public healthcare, massively imrpoved education system and a working social security network with them.
Multimillionaires and billionaires just decided that Cuba needs to die, and The US governments (sometimes literally) lick their asses.
Say what you will, multiple countries didn't start rationing fuel until America decided it needed invovle itself in everyone else's problems and try to make more money in the process.
It's kinda like seeing a home invasion and then being mad at the guy being robbed.
Iran has been just as big of a blight on global security for decades just like the US. Both funding terror groups in nations to overthrow their governments. The world would be far more peaceful if both of them went away. It's not just about the current war, both have long histories of innocent civilian blood on their hands.
I can agree both can be threats to global security but the US still being the bigger one. That is in no way a defense of Iran, by the way.
I'm just saying, as an American, I'm fully aware my country has nukes and the best funded military. Iran is much a danger to people close by while America can threaten yoy effectively about anywhere in the world.
My question is why are you choosing to pick a lesser of two evils, when there's no reason to pick between them? You can just say yes they are evil and should fuck off. I was never claiming one was worse than the other. Despite what most of the replies to my comment had seemed to think. The US is a bigger threat sure, but both of them are still a cancer on global order, just because one is stage 2 and the other stage 3 doesn't mean it's not still cancer.
I don't believe recognition of a greater evil is the same as picking a lesser evil. I don't think all bad things are just bad without scale or proportion is a useful way to look at the world.
Buddy, you don’t have to like the Iranian government, but they don’t do anything to other countries other than protect themselves and arm/fund people resisting Israel.
Except most of the groups they funded had their main goal of overthrowing their own governments. Iran has no allies in the region so it funded terror groups who were working to overthrow their governments so that there would then be a new friendlier regime. And with that, it would allow them to control the region. Israel was always a side game to their over all goal.
Oh no, they’re funding groups that want to overthrow brutal governments that are puppets the us, what bastards. They’re fighting against western imperialism and their allies my dude. They are infinitely more so the victim than the bad guy.
One sides terrorist is another sides revolutionary. If a suicide bomber killed Kim Jong Un, releasing North Korea from their dictatorship, what do you define them as? Terrorist or revolutionary?
The strait is, geographically, Iranian waters. By all international water territory treaties, they have claim to it. They permit trade through it because it made sense and was beneficial to everyone. They stopped because the US [and Israel] attacked them.
Cuba and Cuban waters are NOT under any rightful US claim.
There's no "both sides" in this. The US is 100% in the wrong. They're SO FAR in the wrong that Iran has the moral high ground - a notion which should be absurd to even propose.
Not the entire thing. They own a portion of it, as do the other nations that border it. But Iran is blocking all of their shipments which violates international law. And neither side has any moral High ground, both regimes need to be removed. Just because the US started an unjust war doesn't mean the Iran regime was good in any way. It has just as much innocent blood on their hands and has also fucked with other nations just as much as the US. Which is why I said both need to fuck off.
And that matters why? They still have blood on their hands. It's not a contest of which is worse, both are bad. The US needs to fuck off just as much as Iran does. Both are nations that meddle in other nations and act to destabilise them. The acts of one of them being worse does not make the others actions disappear.
Ahh... Yes and No. Iran killed of thousand of there own people, when the religious took over, removed all womens rights, closed shools for girls and introduced the religious laws, witch also allowed cutting of the hand of people who stole food for there families... So inside the country they killed more than USA, outside the country, USA are killing more...
Which is why I called out that both of them are bad. So many people have been trying to say the US is worse. Which sure, ok it can be the worst one. Doesn't mean Iran isn't also fucked as a nation, both of them are cancer on the world and need to go away.
I'd argue Iran has complete sovereignty over their land and waterways, and they have a right to defend themselves from the abuse of power from the US upon the request from Israel
The straight isn't theirs. Of course they're going to defend themselves (the regime). However, let's not pretend their some innocent country who has never done anything wrong. Brutal regime.
Seeing that the current Iranian government has vowed to destroy Israel, and has been funding anti-Israel terror groups for decades, by your own logic Israel is not doing anything wrong.
The issue is, they are not staying within their own waterways. They are also blockading the whole strait including the national waters of the other strait nations. And Iran has been funding terror groups for decades, they have a long list of their own Bullshit they have pushed onto other nations. Which is why they can also fuck off.
And I started by saying the US needs to fuck off as well. And if the US fucks off, Israel loses its cash cow that lets them get away with all their bullshit. It's not a one or the other situation, both of them need to go because both of them are bad and fucking up other nations.
No, the US and Israel have said that Iran has been funding them for decades while concealing the facts, things like the fact that Israel has funded HAMAS.
Honestly, I really don't think people have any concept just how many of these terrorist organisations were founded and funded by the US.
Fucking Bin Laden was literally made by the CIA to give the Soviets in Afghanistan, and when he was no longer useful, they tried to assassinate him, and they wonder *why* he tried to fuck the US.
If they block the strait they are blockading the ports of countries belligerent in the attacks on them. That is just standard warfare. It' the excuse the US is using to block all shipments in an out of Iran.
Like who? Every country blockaded by the closing of the strait is housing US bases and personnel and is at best providing indirect support for the war. As well as a few who have actively participated in direct conflict. Please, name them.
Why is everyone leaving out the fact I said the US needs to fuck off as well? Both of them are the problem, both have spent decades fucking over other nations by funding terror groups. The US and Israel have so much civilian blood on their hands, both need to go away. As the US and Iran are both terror states that fund extremist groups for their own political interests. They are a cancer on global stability. It's not an Iran over the US thing, they both need to go.
What's the post we're all responding to? Specifically, what is the context of the image. Break it down step by step, then continue to wonder why people are reacting poorly to your pointless equivalence.
Iran has been politically intervened by the US since the 50s and they funded terror groups there too. I have read that Oman has had agreements with Iran on the handling of the strait.
And Iran only exists at all because the British and French caused the Ottoman Empire to collapse during the first world war. Just because you got fucked with in history doesn't mean you get the right to fund terrorist groups for decades. Sure that's with Oman, what about all the other nations? There's more than just two nations in the strait, and Iran is fucking with all their waters.
The US intervention has not finished, including now, its not left in history. It seems like you're just looking for excuses to include Iran in a process that the US has fully caused, including by breaking the nuclear deal. Also the sovereignty of the strait is with Iran and Oman, they have not ratified the law of the seas that would make it so they can't claim it as their own. So yeah, they can decide on it.

Has been insane for the last 40 years. I understand the initial overreaction to the missile crisis (fuck Russia) but it has gone on far too long. I blame almost everything on Reagan. Fuck Ronald Reagan.
TheHappyHermit
and talking about air strikes on Cuba is like a grown ass man kicking an emaciated dog. It's ridiculous... but exactly the kind of thing a bully like trump would do to make himself feel big
urusername2
It is sending Cuba into the arms of China. They are getting and installing solar like crazy. The embargo is affecting the populous lees and less!
PineappleLoopsBroether
It’s such a bitchy cat fight of an international issue.
azgrak1
Cuba is undergoing that fastest conversion to solar thanks to China.
TheWombatStrikesAgain
You gotta sabotage the communism to prove it doesn't work.

yqpqfrdp625772
Sure is. The dual blockade (both Iran and us) is in no way more acceptable though. Cuba doesn’t really have 20% of the world’s supply of anything other than Cubans.
IndependenceHallPhiladelphiaPA
i disagree. the iranian blockade of hormuz is a reasonable and justifiable defensive measure in response to an unprovoked, illegal attack, invasion, and multiple war crimes. the embargo of cuba is unprovoked and unjustified.
yqpqfrdp625772
Reasonable and justifiable? Maybe. That’s not what makes things acceptable though. There world isn’t going through a major economic crisis because Cuba is being blockaded.
The unjustifiable blockade of Cuba (the Monroe doctrine has finally this year managed to make every country in the western hemisphere hate the us) isn’t going to bolster the prospects of populist political parties who always use economic turmoil to garner power, the leaders of which inevitably try to dismantle democracies.
IndependenceHallPhiladelphiaPA
reasonable and justifiable makes it "far more acceptable" than the unjustifiable blockade of cuba.
foreverinchains
I would guess that Cuba has a bit more than 20% of the world's supply of Cubans.
Madalchemist2018
Miami has entered the chat.
ChiLLeCheeze
How many of them betrayed their country to further themselves though? Do they even deserve to be called Cubans if they would sell out their own countrymen out to the US? It makes me think of Ted Cruz. https://wegotthiscovered.com/politics/um-actually-ted-cruz-forced-to-backpedal-after-wrongly-claiming-communism-tortured-his-dad-in-cuba/
Madalchemist2018
I was just joking. But since I saw his name FUCK TED CRUZ!!! Sorry reflex.
Mgxr44
Well, they do pretty darn well for being under an embargo, imagine how they’d do if they weren’t 👀 then people might get ideas that we don’t need billionaires and other capitalists to make the world go round. And we can’t have that
Kdvdp
Yea without the segregation from the international market it's really difficult to sell the: "yea socialism sounds cool on paper, but no attempt in real life ever succeeded " cliché.
No way the billionaires gonna let that happen though
Kenbamazingbutprobablywontbe
Thats because if ppl find out socialism works. Capitalism falls apart
SmergBlaerghl
They should grab a pair of binoculars and look across the Atlantic, to the Nordics.

Good.
If it can be destroyed by the truth, it deserves to be destroyed by the truth.

Indeed. Also starting to learn that things companies do for "our" convenience usually means " we're hiding garbage in your food so we can make more money.
bakerguy1337
New and improved recipes, just mean more savings for them.
pandemicmodedad
Yeah, the CEO of McDonald's shows us that. He wouldnt even eat the "burger".
ThatGuyWomack
I recommend you do a quick search on how cuba is doing... The answer is 'not good'. Like, 'brink of starvation' not good.
CommunCreator
It seems that they have gotten the lights turned back on.
kadaeux
That tends to happen when the global bully has worked damn hard to ensure its failure since the Cold War.
EntropyEJ
They have been doing alright. Better than expected in many respects.
However right now they are in full crisis mode. The blockade tightened recently and the country is actively being strangled.
Kdvdp
In the hypothetical situation of same 60 year blockage but with Cuba as a neoliberal state I bet they'd starve a long long time ago though
Mgxr44
They definitely have issues, but I’d remind you that they have a higher life expectancy, literacy rate, homeownership rate, lowered infant and maternal mortality rates, more access to higher education and healthcare than the US, including a lung cancer vaccine and even Alzheimer’s treatments we don’t have.
Eldis
The US has spent so much resources into destroying Cuba The US could've built free public healthcare, massively imrpoved education system and a working social security network with them.
Multimillionaires and billionaires just decided that Cuba needs to die, and The US governments (sometimes literally) lick their asses.
whatsisname
And how much of that is directly a result of the USA's interference?
ForlornFennec
Yes.
ChiLLeCheeze
Yes, but have you thought of *Conservative talking point*
Targe0
How about both nations can fuck off and leave the rest of the world alone.
That way the world will not have to deal with either of their bullshit.
MasterBountakun
I dunno, maybe America should fuck off?
Say what you will, multiple countries didn't start rationing fuel until America decided it needed invovle itself in everyone else's problems and try to make more money in the process.
It's kinda like seeing a home invasion and then being mad at the guy being robbed.
Targe0
Iran has been just as big of a blight on global security for decades just like the US.
Both funding terror groups in nations to overthrow their governments. The world would be far more peaceful if both of them went away.
It's not just about the current war, both have long histories of innocent civilian blood on their hands.
MasterBountakun
I can agree both can be threats to global security but the US still being the bigger one. That is in no way a defense of Iran, by the way.
I'm just saying, as an American, I'm fully aware my country has nukes and the best funded military. Iran is much a danger to people close by while America can threaten yoy effectively about anywhere in the world.
Targe0
My question is why are you choosing to pick a lesser of two evils, when there's no reason to pick between them? You can just say yes they are evil and should fuck off.
I was never claiming one was worse than the other.
Despite what most of the replies to my comment had seemed to think.
The US is a bigger threat sure, but both of them are still a cancer on global order, just because one is stage 2 and the other stage 3 doesn't mean it's not still cancer.
MasterBountakun
I don't believe recognition of a greater evil is the same as picking a lesser evil. I don't think all bad things are just bad without scale or proportion is a useful way to look at the world.
Mgxr44
Buddy, you don’t have to like the Iranian government, but they don’t do anything to other countries other than protect themselves and arm/fund people resisting Israel.
nalmeth
To their own people they do. And they're as responsible for fighting as Israel.
Targe0
Except most of the groups they funded had their main goal of overthrowing their own governments.
Iran has no allies in the region so it funded terror groups who were working to overthrow their governments so that there would then be a new friendlier regime. And with that, it would allow them to control the region. Israel was always a side game to their over all goal.
Mgxr44
Oh no, they’re funding groups that want to overthrow brutal governments that are puppets the us, what bastards. They’re fighting against western imperialism and their allies my dude. They are infinitely more so the victim than the bad guy.
Targe0
They are killing innocent civilians.
You don't get to claim the moral high ground when you use suicide bombers and car bombs.
kadaeux
Yeah, you do when your enemies are genocidal cunts intent on destroying you.
nalmeth
Wow. Did you just try and defend terrorism. You're truly fucked in the head.
TheLastBootyBender
One sides terrorist is another sides revolutionary.
If a suicide bomber killed Kim Jong Un, releasing North Korea from their dictatorship, what do you define them as? Terrorist or revolutionary?
IhopeyougetstageIIIcoloncancer
The strait is, geographically, Iranian waters. By all international water territory treaties, they have claim to it. They permit trade through it because it made sense and was beneficial to everyone. They stopped because the US [and Israel] attacked them.
Cuba and Cuban waters are NOT under any rightful US claim.
There's no "both sides" in this. The US is 100% in the wrong. They're SO FAR in the wrong that Iran has the moral high ground - a notion which should be absurd to even propose.
nalmeth
No it isn't. And no, Iran doesn't have any moral high ground. They can both be rolling around in shit.
Targe0
Not the entire thing.
They own a portion of it, as do the other nations that border it.
But Iran is blocking all of their shipments which violates international law.
And neither side has any moral High ground, both regimes need to be removed. Just because the US started an unjust war doesn't mean the Iran regime was good in any way. It has just as much innocent blood on their hands and has also fucked with other nations just as much as the US. Which is why I said both need to fuck off.
kadaeux
And you demonstrate your ignorance. Iran has indefinitely less blood on its hands than the USA has.
Targe0
And that matters why? They still have blood on their hands.
It's not a contest of which is worse, both are bad.
The US needs to fuck off just as much as Iran does. Both are nations that meddle in other nations and act to destabilise them.
The acts of one of them being worse does not make the others actions disappear.
nalmeth
False
Rosenaa
Ahh... Yes and No. Iran killed of thousand of there own people, when the religious took over, removed all womens rights, closed shools for girls and introduced the religious laws, witch also allowed cutting of the hand of people who stole food for there families... So inside the country they killed more than USA, outside the country, USA are killing more...
Targe0
Which is why I called out that both of them are bad.
So many people have been trying to say the US is worse.
Which sure, ok it can be the worst one.
Doesn't mean Iran isn't also fucked as a nation, both of them are cancer on the world and need to go away.
chickenmilanga
I'd argue Iran has complete sovereignty over their land and waterways, and they have a right to defend themselves from the abuse of power from the US upon the request from Israel
nalmeth
The straight isn't theirs. Of course they're going to defend themselves (the regime). However, let's not pretend their some innocent country who has never done anything wrong. Brutal regime.
beenbannedb4
Seeing that the current Iranian government has vowed to destroy Israel, and has been funding anti-Israel terror groups for decades, by your own logic Israel is not doing anything wrong.
chickenmilanga
That's a stretch. Israel has violated their own ceasefires repeatedly just to mention what's happened in the past few days and weeks.
nalmeth
Not a stretch at all. Both sides can be shit.
Targe0
The issue is, they are not staying within their own waterways.
They are also blockading the whole strait including the national waters of the other strait nations.
And Iran has been funding terror groups for decades, they have a long list of their own Bullshit they have pushed onto other nations. Which is why they can also fuck off.
TheLastBootyBender
Buddy, you know who else has been funding terror groups for decades? USA and Israel
Targe0
And I started by saying the US needs to fuck off as well.
And if the US fucks off, Israel loses its cash cow that lets them get away with all their bullshit.
It's not a one or the other situation, both of them need to go because both of them are bad and fucking up other nations.
kadaeux
No, the US and Israel have said that Iran has been funding them for decades while concealing the facts, things like the fact that Israel has funded HAMAS.
Magjee
Founded actually, back then it was a Gaza Ministry
kadaeux
Honestly, I really don't think people have any concept just how many of these terrorist organisations were founded and funded by the US.
Fucking Bin Laden was literally made by the CIA to give the Soviets in Afghanistan, and when he was no longer useful, they tried to assassinate him, and they wonder *why* he tried to fuck the US.
Magjee
If they block the strait they are blockading the ports of countries belligerent in the attacks on them. That is just standard warfare. It' the excuse the US is using to block all shipments in an out of Iran.
nalmeth
No. They're blockading many countries who aren't even involved.
Magjee
Like who? Every country blockaded by the closing of the strait is housing US bases and personnel and is at best providing indirect support for the war. As well as a few who have actively participated in direct conflict. Please, name them.
ReaperCDN
"But the terrorism" doesn't work anymore. Conservatives really need to get some new slogans.
Targe0
Why is everyone leaving out the fact I said the US needs to fuck off as well?
Both of them are the problem, both have spent decades fucking over other nations by funding terror groups.
The US and Israel have so much civilian blood on their hands, both need to go away.
As the US and Iran are both terror states that fund extremist groups for their own political interests. They are a cancer on global stability. It's not an Iran over the US thing, they both need to go.
ReaperCDN
What's the post we're all responding to? Specifically, what is the context of the image. Break it down step by step, then continue to wonder why people are reacting poorly to your pointless equivalence.
chickenmilanga
Iran has been politically intervened by the US since the 50s and they funded terror groups there too. I have read that Oman has had agreements with Iran on the handling of the strait.
Targe0
And Iran only exists at all because the British and French caused the Ottoman Empire to collapse during the first world war.
Just because you got fucked with in history doesn't mean you get the right to fund terrorist groups for decades.
Sure that's with Oman, what about all the other nations? There's more than just two nations in the strait, and Iran is fucking with all their waters.
chickenmilanga
The US intervention has not finished, including now, its not left in history. It seems like you're just looking for excuses to include Iran in a process that the US has fully caused, including by breaking the nuclear deal. Also the sovereignty of the strait is with Iran and Oman, they have not ratified the law of the seas that would make it so they can't claim it as their own. So yeah, they can decide on it.
