The only villain that marvel could use after Thanos is Doom
JustCallMeBean
Or Galactus
Galactus is powerful... but he doesn’t lend human pathos to the story. Doom is exhilarating and arrogant and selfish and grandiose.
Shenphen
Yes! Yes! A thousand times yes!
PatrickDiomedes
Problem is, who the hell would they cast as doom? I really can't think of anyone who could pull the role off.
Keith David
I guess if they make it so he's already all scarred and wearing the mask, they could just pick a voice actor.

Pretty sure it was a "What if" story but he did. Ended up ripping his spine out if I recall correctly

Not a what-if. That was the battleworld arc.
Ohhhhhh well thank you for the correction
NotMyUsualOnlineName
Wasn't a "What-if?", it was after the incursions. Doom essentially was God (using Molecule Man as a power source), created and ruled
Battleworld, Thanos was one of the regional "kings", revolted against Doom, Doom ripped out Thanos's spine and skull.
NERDRAGEohacat
Wait, wasn't Thanos one of the villains who rode out the end of the world in a copy of Reed's ship, not a regional lord?

I love Doom in the comics but I can't imagine making a good film adaptation of the character. He's just too ridiculous sometimes
Sonicdahedgie
You would need to give him his own movie as a anti-hero, before ever using him as a villain.
HypocriticalBastard
That and you’d have to bring in the Fantastic Four, who are just a bit tricky to do right.
Opening scene of Incredibles 2 made me think that Brad Bird should be the one to make a F4 film. He already can do a solid live action 1/2
(Mission Impossible) and does family superhero cooperation well. What else would he need? 2/2

I believe it's from the recent rendition of Marvel Secret Wars (2015) Doom becomes a God and every Marvel Universe is combined into 1.
karmol
as God Doom he obliterated Phoenix Cyclops. What a waste of a cool costume and redemption story
demobytom
Wait did Cyclops become Phoenix? Thought it was Jean Grey's thing?
cyclops becomes the phoenix at least twice. usually a jean thing, but she's often dead. Look up the Phoenix Five, for the coolest costumes
MagnorCriol
The Phoenix Force, which is what made Jean The Phoenix, is some sort of Supergalactic Force Of Phenomenal Cosmic Power (tm). It came ->
also, cyclops becomes Phoenix again as part of Secret Wars
-> to earth and possessed five powerful mutants and made them even stronger. This is the crux of the Avengers vs XMen mega-story. ->

Thanos takes his bones away pretty quick in the final fight
StanielRonathan
People who claim Wolverine wins this match up tend to be those who have never read "The Infinity Gauntlet" and have only seen the movies
choakid999
Even if you’ve only seen the movie why would wolverine win? Thanos is a smarter and stronger enemy and withstood an axe to the fucking chest
Because Wolverine has always been a little overhyped and without the context of the source material, it's easy to oversell this. In the-
source, Thanos simply turned his metal coated bones into rubber, leaving him a helpless jiggling pile of meat on the floor. Even worse he-

He, at this point had many stones, he could have easily countered that, which I’m sure strange knew, considering he saw the future.

Yes but he can move the portal like he did with loki.
And the guy who can teleport instantly is just going to let it happen?

I mean I agree, they should've just cut his arm off, but this is what I've been thinking about going into the next movie.
UmmonPrime
my wife screamed at the tv for this entire scene. "CUT HIS ARM OFF!!!"
i get that it wouldnt have made for the best story arc but yeah... it was frustrating
Remember in GotG what just holding the power stone does to you. He had that & 3 other stones on top of being already strong + the gauntlet >
> only Ironman at the end managed to land a scratch. Cutting his arm off seems impossible or much harder than pulling the gauntlet off
They almost yanked the thing right off his hand. He was all spacey/unconscious. Pretty sure they coulda gotten that portal there quick.
TheNewAndImprovedUser
I remember hearing the argument that Thanos' increased durability essentially would've kept the portal open.
Ulthirm
Or the fact the stones power would be a major part of his body (you know the stuff killing normal people) and might resist
Kopar
That's the problem with the gauntlet. If it worked the way it SHOULD, none of those fights would have lasted more than a second.
Maybe MCU gauntlet is different from the Comics version or maybe he was just toying with them. He wasn't really in a hurry at this point.
2) And the fact that Stormbreaker pushed through ALL of the gems is just... wrong.
