I lived in Seattle and bird hunted with the Labrador, breaking ice to hunt on the Eastern WA lakes. We live in Baja Mexico now and swim the Pacific Ocean almost daily. I can absolutely tell you that the Labrador does not care. Water and retrieving are life.

I grew on emerald coast of Florida. Been in military and therefore have traveled a lot. I've been to beaches in cali, Texas, Tybee island, japan, Arabian gulf, Europe, Atlantic, even African.
Most beaches are a huge let down. I got spoiled from the get go

You've probably never owned a lab before. But they LOVE water. They love it warm, they love it tepid, they love it cold- so long as it's not bath or shower water, they want to be in it. When they were first bred in the 1800's it was specifically to brave the spring and fall waters during duck season. And BOY do they live up to it, even if it's a muddy puddle that's deep enough to only see their knuckles in. They're a very mud-loving dog too lmao

Only in winter, in summer the water is several degrees above ice cold. So on a nice blistering hot day in Skeggy when it's 18C in the SHADE, you can cool off.
