Had this problem with my ex. We had to work out a system where I'd respond with a (random) emoji as I looked at what she sent so I could keep track of where I'd left off.

I literally won't post any memes in discord until my friend is online and able to look at them, because then I get to enjoy them a second time as he reads them aloud to me. I am super grateful that he puts up with this, lol.

I make sure to laugh at all the memes my friends show me. It makes them feel better. To date, no one has shown me a meme I hadn't seen before. That said, one of my good friends is the embodiment of meme culture so everytime I see him, there's something new.
