I vividly remember the first time I saw this movie. I was in awe of his prowess and sword wielding. He really practiced so hard for it and had great coaches.
The second Conan movie was quite different. Pretty good, but the original... still holds fast. And of course, James Earl Jones... was a phenomenal addition.
He said the sword trainer told him he was too big (muscle mass) to swing the sword. So he went and lost like 30 pounds quickly to train in time for shooting.
Last I heard King Conan is getting made. It was confirmed awhile back, then went into development hell, then I guess maybe back in the spring it was confirmed to be back on again.
What an absolute adventure and Incredible life this dude has had hey. He should run for president. I mean. At this point its about money and popularity so who gives a shit. Yes inknow its not legal for non American born to be preaident but shit ya'll saw Demolition Man. Huxley says his massive popularity caused the passage of the 61st Amendment to the U.S. Constitution soooo I mean its possible 🤣
The Republican party at the time was desperate to get rid of that clause so he'd have the chance to be president. Until it turned out that he wasn't Republican enough for them (working WITH the Democrats for some policies? Sacrilege!!)
I second. He was an ineffectual governor - he raised fees and taxes (including lower tax brackets) to fix budget deficit and chanted for rain to address the drought; he marred whatever job he didn't do with cronyism now only bested by Trump (I'm sure he inspired the Orange Pedo to do the same) and also admitting as-much to the validity of dozen plus sexual assaults... So yeah - he's perfect for the President of US. (the last part is sarcasm)
He wasn't ineffectual. He successfully did all kinds of nasty shit. One thing that's been recently on our minds is the way he neutered CA's ability to deliver progressives to Congress by spearheading the jungle primary. The first person in the state to recognize what that meant was ... Eric Swalwell, who reverse AOC'd Pete Stark, a progressive in a deep blue seat, with a coalition of 1/3rd Republicans and 1/6th centrist Dems. Talk about a DINO. Evil fruit from the evil tree. GOP = rapist cabal.
The celebrity worship in USA is out of control. After Trump won the "left" (corporate centrist liberal elites) were musing that Oprah should run for president as a democrat. You know, that celebrity lady who kicked off the anti-vax movement, gave us doctor Oz, platformed tons of abusers and grifters and just generally uses her position of influence to amplify and elevate the worst people.
I've read multiple articles that said they are making a sequel. And I can't imagine there's any other reason for him to be training with a sword like that if it wasn't the case.
thatwoodguy
Thank you but I still owe him a script for Conan dies

Given what he’s had to recover from, he’s doing great.

...and just a wee bit older.
b0stark
Honestly, the fact he can do it at all at that age is impressive.
HisRoyalMajestyKingV
And, if I recall correctly, his shoulders (possibly also knees?) are kind of a mess, so I imagine there's pain along with doing this.
Unclescam
Hell. When he did the movie, he could barely do it as he was body builder big and not fighter big.
Discgolfing
He lost a lot of muscle training for Conan, on purpose, and he learned to sword fight with Kiyoshi Yamazaki.
RetrogradeLlama
And he's 78 yrs old.

Okay I feel there needs to be a "fuckin" in there

That rule is genuinely the only reason he didn't run. Probably for the best, he'd only tarnish his reputation getting muddled up in that.
PocketCleric
No, you only need to be a USA cit for 14 years vefore you're eligible
NotAllowedToArgueUnlessYouPay
You must be a natural-born citizen AND have been resident for at least 14 years. You must meet BOTH requirements.
PocketCleric
Ah, yeah, had to look it up. Id missed that one

You would hate his politics, you know?

How about we let actors be actors and don't try to make actors politicians, because every time we do it ends badly Reagan, Trump - need I say more?

Career politician's are some of the best actors ever.

I mean acting is lying very well so you've got me there.

Still a non-zero chance for a Conan 3

Yeah he should be the king now. It would be a cool ending to the story.
