My Neighbor, on the right, knows I'm a weirdo. I gave her a ride to the dentist once and that's how an X-ray of her teeth became my phones (HIPAA violating) lock screen.

Knowing this, upon finding her old retainer while cleaning stuff, she made the mistake of asking if I wanted it. I decided I wanted to make a Neighbor Teeth Ice Cube Tray.

Plasticine is actually a really common childrens toy in Ireland (or at least was when I was a lad), but a lot of Americans I have talked to seem not to have heard of it.

Plasticine has the advantage of never drying out and being water proof, so the perfect thing for temporary mold forms etc.

I broke my first attempt trying to snap off the retainer, the way it's fitted, to grip onto the teeth, it's impossible to get off the plaster teeth without breaking them. But they are SUCH a close fit that I just decided to leave it on.

You have to get the "platinum" two part mold mix if you plan on using your stuff for food.

See, even a mold of the teeth with the retainer on looks pretty good?

I decided my ice cube tray should have 6 sets of teef in there.

I had to buy a SECOND set of the mold mix to make this. It's not super expensive, but it's not cheap either.

I had hot glued the teeth in place to stop them moving about while I poured, but unfortunately this meant there was a space for the mold mix to curl under, so I had to carefully use an X-acto to extracto.

I was very excite!

I added red food coloring to the water cause I wanted to see the teeth more clearly in a picture. I think they retained(er) their toothiness very well!

Ironically, the ice teef hurt my teef. Other ideas: Agar Gelatin for Gummy Teeth Suudsu and Ivory bark and chocolate for two-tone Choco Teeth. Also Check out my latest video: https://youtu.be/I8kWQICYO50

This is awesome!

You're the cool weird, and we all love that

I think the main reason a lot of Americans haven't heard of it is because of Playdough.

That is correct, its a very similar product category, Plasticine was briefly marketed in the US but the American formulation was inferior to the original European version and it faced uphill competition with already entrenched playdough.

@michaelcthulhu I once had a man die in my arms at work, the psychological scar it left PALES in comparison to the internal discomfort I felt upon imbibing the sentence "Neighbour teeth ice-cube tray". /TIHI

Plastiscine? You mean *mala*? (To everyone outside D4 or Castletroy)

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ok, well plastiscine already gets a blank stare from most Trumpistanis, good luck saying Mala to an Ameriserf and expecting comphrehension!

They tried to market a crappier version of Plasticine here in the 70s but it never caught on against American PlayDoh.

A guy I know it worked told me he was moving it the other day and he found both his kids baby teeth full of jars of all the baby teeth and I told him that those were worth money on Etsy he was shocked to find out I was not lying

I turned my wisdom teeth into earrings. I get comments on them all the time. People have all kinds of reactions to learning they're my real, actual teeth.

@OP if the neighbor gave your permission, it's HIPAA compliant
Also "X-acto to extracto" fucking killed me. GG my dude.

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Also. Iirc, HIPPA is only really between the dr (and org) and the patient.

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes, but if a third party accesses it without permission, that is still a crime (I think)

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What, people don't know plasticine? I mean Play Doh is the more default kids verison, but that's jsut capitalism, we still had modeling clay and plasticine all over the place though.

If you had issues demolding the teeth, I would recommend dusting the retainer with talc or shmearing it with Vaseline as a mold release. It'll get you more... anatomical satisfaction from the final product. You could probably nest the ends of the molds in the curve of another like roof tiles so you get more per tray. More teeth more better.

I don’t know the name of your new kink, but check your local laws. You might be able to make dentures without being a dentist.

I get mine from a guy who works out of his garage.

Ice-dentia?
