The worst part of dying to Lucius The Eternal is just how smug he is about the whole thing. PUT YOUR FUCKEN TONGUE BACK IN YOUR MOUTH!

I wonder how he would fare with the Dark Eldars' Haemonculi.

I think there was some lore in the OG Dark Eldar codex that referenced him. Maybe it said he was inspired by them? Or he had captured one. I think that was it. Used it for experiments to "show it true suffering" or some other demented shit like that.

He studied with them for a bit. Some held a grudge and took it out on him in the third book of Josh Reynolds' trilogy about Bile.

He actually did get captured by them, but at some point during his imprisonment they walked in on him experimenting on his fellow prisoners. They admired his gumption, released him as an intern, and both sides exchanged ideas on how to conduct their work. After a bit they let him go with no strings attached.

#1 Doesn't Trazyn have the Fulgrim clone?

Trazyn has "A" Fulgrim clone, yes.

Oh, did Bile make a second Fulgrim clone after all? The last I read he had decided using an untainted Fulgrim clone to revitalize the Emperor's Children was a bad plan and wouldn't work. Admittedly I don't pay clone attention to 40k, and especially Chaos Marine, lore.

Fabius Bile's lore is some of the best in 40k, but it gets convoluted because of how his plans work. Bile has a few thousand clones of himself, all of which are active and working on similar projects because the only way to combat Chaos from his point of view is redundancy. He's not a hive mind tho, so his clones are sometimes unaware of what other clones are working on. Many of his clones have made clones of Fulgrim, Horus and Ferris Manus, with varied levels of success./1

The Horus clones were all wiped out by Ezykyle Abaddon. The Ferris clone was a perfect Loyalist duplicate so was killed by the real Fulgrim. Of the Fulgrim clones, Bile has a need to reproduce Fulgrim's DNA pre-daemonhood to combat a genetic flaw that is present in all Emperor's Children including himself. His clones regularly die of cancer and old age because of this flaw, but rather than cure it he uses it as motivational tool to goad his selves into constant research./2

Idk if this is a hot take or not, but lore wise, i think the emperor's children kinda suck. Especially their fall to chaos.

Part of the problem is that the first look we had at them was a terribly written book. It soured a lot of people on the entire concept of the 3rd and anything after that has to drag them out of literally smearing shit on a canvas. I like Emperor's Children and the wild extremes they sit at but even I’m laughing when space marines are talking about a cargo hold of narcotics like they’re Scarface with a pile of coke.

I really think that's intentional. Loken's story wouldn't make nearly as much sense if people like Lucius weren't such utter cunts. But I think the ECs are also supposed to be one of the archetypal representations of teh failures of the emperor's philosophies on parenting. Them, the world eaters, the word bearers, all of those chapters really drive home how unsustainable the entire Primarch project was from the very beginning.

Right, but Angeron, Lorgar, and Magnus all had compelling reasons to fall (which also usually fell to Big-E being a bad parent). From what i can tell, he was pretty supportive of Fulgrim cause his legion gene seed was ruined early on.

See, that's the problem: He supported Fulgrim BECAUSE he knew he was liable to fuck up. Insteaad of trying to fix the fuckup or actually explain what happened, he just did waht he did with Magnus: gave esoteric advice that was impossible to follow then fucked off. And who can really blame Fulgrim for falling in love with his own reflection. have you seen the man?

More of a Lion El' Grandad Johnson fan myself.

I kind of agree but I think that they suck is kind of the fun part, at least in my limited experience. Their obsession with perfection and the interpretation of that singular word leads them to do the strangest and (often) dumbest stuff. The book Renegades: Lord of Excess by Rich McCormick was both grim dark and intriguing for such events.

I had just finished reading Fulgrim the other day and while I can feel pitty for some of the other traitor primarchs, his fall seems less tragic (lookin at Angeron) and more "well we gotta make him fall so he slowly falls with no real motivation".

Yeah, 40k isn't always perfect *shrug*. There are 20 primarchs but we supposedly only know 18, even after all this time and it was perfect split of 9 bad and 9 good (unless the Alpha Legion really are secretly loyal but the jury is currently out)

It has it's flaws like any work, but you need to remember its connection to the miniature hobby. There are 20, all 20 were rediscovered, but two of them were essentially purged from the records. Sanguinius fears his legions gene flaws will lead to a similiar fate for his legion. Outside of the lore, the two missing legions were a way to account for custom created legions on the table top. There's a whole host of theories.

The Loyalist Alpha Legion are secretly traitor, and the Traitor Alpha Legion are secretly loyal. They're also full of the other's spies.
