#2 I just finished rereading the book. And I've finally watched and read closely enough in time that I can verify that the transvestite...1

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

...pirate stuff was only in the film. Anyone know where it came from? Did Gaiman have a hand in it or was it purely Hollywood stuff? 2/2

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think it's pure Hollywood kink..

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Robert DeNiro wants do badly to be funny. It's just impossible to see him that way. In the Bullwinkle movie (which I think he produced) 1/

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

he was playing Glorious Leader. I guess someone talked him into the "are you talkin to me?" speech which killed the mood. 2/2

Was that Mark Strong opposite Robert Dinero?

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yes, it was! He was also fantastic in Stardust.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thank the stars for Neil Gaiman!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

wifes favorite movie of all time. only drm'd purchase I have ever made so she can put it on all her devices.

5 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

One of the films best accomplishments was making the immaculate Henry Cavill look like a douchenozzle.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

THANK YOU. I could not remember the name to save my life

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The book is also fantastic.

5 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

I listened to it on audiobook during a road trip, narrated by the author Neil Gaiman, who did an excellent job

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

not underrated at all. everybody loves it up there with princess bride.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

A lot fewer people have heard of it than The Princess Bride.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanksss!!! ?

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It's an amazing movie.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I watched it when it was new. But i didnt respect it enough back then. Its been on my "Redemption list" for years.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Such a great film. Charlie Cox is such a great actor, even way before Daredevil

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was just about to comment this exact thing amazing film also has Michelle Pfeifer and Claire Daines. Really good film all around.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That last scene with Michelle Pfeiffer is spine tinglingly good. Like, holy shit.

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

She plays it soooooo fucking well.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dot

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Stardust is one of the best movies I've seen in the past 20 years

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It is criminally overlooked! I love it.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

One of my favourite films of all time!! I try to get everybody to watch it!

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

One of the few book adaptations better than the source material

5 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 2

YES!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yep like more then book

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Misses the best part of that entire scene. Honestly, I feel it’s easily on par with The Princess Bride as best romance of all time.

5 years ago | Likes 131 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Certainly up there. Book is very different but movie wise, also a treasure. I laugh so hard during this scene.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

For me, Princess Bride is #1 without question, and Stardust is the width of one hydrogen atom behind it. It's that good.

5 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

Yeah, it’s truth. There’s only been one perfect movie made....

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Remember seeing it in theaters when it came out, had no idea of it. Aunt took my and my step-dad. All three of us got the same impression.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It was so close. It was SO CLOSE. But they fucked the ending.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 7

IMO, the movie was better than the book. That hurts me to say as a fan of Gaiman.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

How should it have ended?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

“Have been unavoidably detained by the world. Expect us when you see us.” imo.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

In the novella, he dies, she lives (presumably forever) ruling in his stead. It’s bittersweet, rather than the saccharine movie ending.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

The rest of the edits they made were okay, but the ending killed the character development and complexity.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Not with a cookie-cutter blockbuster action scene.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

The sword fight with a voodoo doll dead man?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That too. I mean, it was a cool moment. The whole scene was full of cool moments. But it didn't serve the movie IMO.
