My parents named this sweet girl Slinky. She was hanging out on their boat and they got her spayed and now she’s living in the detached workshop.
Unfortunately, 4 out of 5 people in their house are allergic so she’s needs a better home. She LOVES human attention.
She has been spayed, FIV tested negative, has a rabies shot, and vaccinated for FVRCP.
She is such a sweet girl.
Loves rubs.
I edited a photo of her to make my parents laugh. She took over the boat.

I'm a full time SAH Cat Mom of 8 kitties. Well, one (a feral-ish stray) accidentally snuck in over winter and won't go back out as I am forced to try to domesticate more...He's ever so scared of being petted but I can lay on the floor and lay my head inches from his. I am at my limit with meow meows but sometimes when the Universal CDS is at play, resistance is futile...🙇♀️

Reach out to local rescues and let them know you can foster until someone adopts her. Rescues have access to sites like Petfinder and in person adoption days- makes finding a good home SO much faster.

That's so sad. I'm allergic to cats and dogs, and I have two of each living in my home. I just take allergy pills, but I've found that I grow accustomed relatively quickly to my own fuzzy companions. Others still trigger my allergies, but I can pick up one of my own cats and press my face into their fur at this point, with little to no reaction. Y'all should keep lil Slinks, you'll adjust before you even know it!

My wife is allergic. She got 2 different allergy meds prescribed so she could breathe around our kitty. She says it is 100% worth it because she is obsessed with Skittles. Might not be efficient with 4/5 people being allergic but it seems like Slinky chose their servants.

There’s kibble you can get that is made with certain eggs that make cats not as allergy inducing. It would definitely help your sister to be around her. Ive got two cats and I’m doing a 5 year allergy immunotherapy injection program to make my allergies go away.

What was that anti-allergen food supplement LitterboxComics recommended yesterday? Pacagen or something? I haven't tried it out myself, but it might be worth looking into. Allegedly it stops a cat from making the molecule that causes allergy, solving the problem 'at the source' as it were.

I'm on the other side of the country. I hope it works out, but in the interim Purina has a kind of food that helps reduce allergens. LiveClear, I think. One of my friends has an SO is allergic to their kitty. It helped.

Check @LitterboxComics post history. They are allergic to cats but there's a powder that can be added to their food that makes them basically hypoallergenic. Might work for your camfam and slinky!

Not rare, just less common :) It's on the X-chromosome, and so is black, and they are codominant. A male has one X, so it's EITHER black OR orange (depending on parental genetics). A female has two X's, so she's either black x black (looks black), orange x orange (looks orange), or black + orange (tortoiseshell or, with white spotting genes, calico). This, mind, is for cats inheriting specifically black or orange and doesn't take into account genes for full white, agouti (brown tabby etc.), and-

colorpoint etc., so overall you have few solid orange females around given the plethora of combinations available and the fact they'd have to inherit orange twice.

No this is a myth perpetuated by the internet. I was always rescuing ginger babies from a feral colony back in the 90s and the litters were ALWAYS 50/50 split M/F. Some of them were ginger tuxedos but that was also 50/50 in the litters (so two tuxies M/F and two full tabby M/F). I have a ginger F tabby right now and she had one ginger brother in her two kitten litter. There were also often torties in the mix, and sometimes calico, but that was less frequent.

Genetically it's 20/80 female/male. Your litters being 50/50 split has to do with the genetics of the parents.

Did they check? Orange cats shouldn't have any dark pigment like that, and cancers on the nose are *extremely* common, also on the lips.

That's fine, but I dunno why the downvotes. I strongly recommend bringing it up to the vet & asking for a test. "Crusty" or dark speckles on nose, lips or ears on a cat WITHOUT black pigment (orange cats have *no* black pigment) is dangerous. Nose cancer is extremely common and *very treatable* IF caught early like this!
