This isn’t nearly enough, because Israel needs to end its collective punishment. However, restoring water will undoubtedly save lives.

A wholy war? I say let them kill eachother and go to heaven. I'm fed up with religion causing conflict. Can't we just drop every label and call it one religion?

Turning the bloody water off in the first place was a war crime

Yea except this hasn’t happened yet according to people on the ground there

I mean, yeah, obviously it's better than cutting the water, but it's still ethnic cleansing
psmith00
ethnic cleansing? is that the new word for genocide?
maddeninglemon
They both originated in the 40s so not 'new'. And honestly 'ethnic cleansing' is almost a reverse euphemism - its allusion to early 20th century eugenics generally and the Nazi idea of 'cleansing' specifically makes it even more sinister to my ears than genocide.
thebigtoto
I approve following law of war. Israel has the right to defend itself but not at any cost.
zerovanity59
Has it been confirmed if those 29 Americans where not duel citizens. It is wrong to claim duel citizens in their other country.
ElectricFops
Maybe, but lawfully, dual citizens are recognized by the US as US citizens first and foremost, particularly in the cases where they were actually born in the US, which a lot of them were.
vegivamp
You misspelled "attempted genocide".
vegivamp
4 downvotes. Israel is LITERALLY bombing Palestinian evacuation convoys along the route they themselves approved, and there are still idiots who think Hamas are the only bad guys in this conflict.
Hamas are genocidal terrorists. Likud are genocidal fascists. Civilians on both sides are victims, seen by both sides as little more than collateral damage, and the rest of the fucking world is just supporting one side or the other to fight a proxy war for them. There are no good guys here.
keyserv
Well if they level the entirety of Gaza then Israel won't have Hamas to blame for its bloodlust. Or will they??!!
rukeman
Trump would be screaming for him to kill them all.

Good move by Biden? This is like thanking the torturer for telling his assistant to turn off the electricity.
DJOldguy
Netanyahu is the same as any other Nazi, doesn't give a fuck about sub-humans.
Subsound
This seems like common sense. Desperate people don't have any choice but to fight if they can't access basic needs for themselves and their families. Would isreal just lay down and die if they were slowly being starved?
hawkhandsaw
A war crime and a crime against humanity. Not an opinion--a fact.
huffnpuff72
Pressured by pretty much every other world leader and the UN.
viila
It's ok, US will just keep vetoing every resolution in the UN Security Council condemning Israel's oppression of Palestine, just like they've done for the past 50 years. (53 resolutions in total so far.)
LebistusReticulatis
Also hospitals run on water. And electricity of coarse. Water is needed in large supply to clean everything. From hands to equipment to patients.

Yeah, that was rough.

You are funny
djzapz
It took a lot of grit to make that joke under the circumstances.
doughboywoohoo
I think I read that there’s only one hospital and it’s in the evacuation zone. I could be mistaken though
mycatsings
That`s what I understand as well
LebistusReticulatis
I really hope they have more
doughboywoohoo
Yeah I’m mistaken. Just read a different article mentioning multiple hospitals. And it makes sense, only one hospital for 2 million inhabitants would be outrageous
Slashenaar
With the tactics of Hamas hiding behind infrastructure like schools and hospitals and Israel not giving a fuck and blasting away for decades there is not much of what we would recognize as infrastructure
ComradeBinch
If only their infrastructure hadn't been blown apart they might be able to use most of that water. They also need electricity. More false moral highgrounding for bibi
YouCantSpellSlaughterWithoutLaughter
Israel has now agreed to not bomb the civilians they have ordered to leave Gaza City, and now allow people to have access to water? Well, they're basically Jesus fucking Christ. /s
personwhoisaperson
Can someone remind me quickly what the Palestinians need to evacuate away from exactly? Has everyone lost their goddamn minds???
DovvyDragon
Weird question: Do you support letting people have water? Controversial.
Medoria
I heard that without the electricity the water systems aren't working. :x
Bigcurly2000
Depriving them of supplies and forcing them to evacuate is pretty much a fucking death march.
ontarioOT
Umm, you know what I'd approve? Israel stopping its war crimes. If these people evacuate, they will not be allowed back in to where they were before. Source: every other time an evacuation has happened.

I don't think there is going to be a 'where they came from' in existence once Israel really starts methodically destroying every building in the area.
tzahtman
Unfortunately that isn't going to happen and I'd rather do something that can do some good than nothing because we can't get 100% of what would be ideal.
doctorwut02
I mean since we're wishing for impossible things I'd like 4 billion dollars.
OffendedSkeleton
Well, if you work really, really hard, make big sacrifices for years, hustle everyday, build something of value to others… just kidding.
Goldensands
Nah that ain't it, what you need is to not be born poor. Inherit an emerald mine or something
mycatsings
That is what I understand as well. That situation should be corrected immediately.
override367
Well, since Netanyahu pretty explicitly just gets a stiffy from the thought of dead Palestinians, anything Biden can get him to concede on is a win to me
QuintinParry
You know we could just not give the guns or money while they commit war crimes. I bet the number would go down like a lot...
override367
Why? They have an insanely large stockpile of dumb bombs from the cold war, the US provides 13% of their defense budget, Israel is not dependent on the US. We can be sure because they're using US JDAMs that we know they meant to blow that hospital up, so there's that. I would agree with you if the president could possibly get anything out of it, but I'd need to also know what deals come with that, what has Israel given the US in exchange for that on the back end
override367
To be clear: Israeli defense funding passes with veto proof majorities. Do you think there is any chance Biden would pick up more votes by ineffectually threatening to cut it than he would lose from the very zionist Democratic establishment in the north east?
QuintinParry
I'm a big believer in doing theright thing and letting the chips fall where they may.

I think they'll be let back in once the area has been cleansed of Hamas strongholds.. I do expect they have to travel through checkpoints to go back though

Based on what, exactly? Wishes and rainbows? Any time there's been an evacuation, Israel has taken over at least some if not all of the evacuated territory.

At what point in history has Israel let Palestinians get back their own land from the birders of 1967/68? They occupy every bit they can get their blood stained hands on. Hamas is a terrorist organisation and Israel is a terrorist state. Half of the population on Gaza is under 19y.o. All they can remember is Hamas rule and Israeli killing them. I pity them
ThereAreSomeWhoCallMe
In 2005 Isreal left the Gaza strip and it's settlements completely, as well as some settlements in the west bank - in a unilateral move to try a "land for peace", which (unexpectedly) still led to the election of Hamas some time later.
TurdBurglar3000
I think the fairy godmother will grant me $100,000 for Christmas
mycatsings
They have not been allowed to return in the past. That situation should be corrected
ThereAreSomeWhoCallMe
Are you talking about right to return? That's not going to happen, realistically. It's been 75 years, and Isreal is here to stay.
mycatsings
No, I meant they will not be allowed to return to Palestine
ThereAreSomeWhoCallMe
Totally agree then - Thought you meant go back to pre-1948 borders
Mshopshop
It’s not good, or even closer. If he’s really want to be good, he should support palestiniens, just like he stood with Ukrainian against Russia.
YouCantSpellSlaughterWithoutLaughter
It's not surprise, the US have been supporting Israel 100% for decades, no matter who the president is. I find this very odd.
CreativeEgo
Absolutely moronic take. Unless you mean that the US should support Palestinians fight against Hamas, the despicable terrorist group which Israel is rightfully trying to destroy right now.
Mshopshop
Seriously, like it’s okay for Israel to occupy Palestine, took the land, kidnap people. And the palestiniens have no right to complain, or do anything.
LTDeathberry
Wiping out Hamas is supporting Palestinians. Until the group using their hospitals, schools and homes as bases are gone, civilians are in the line of fire. You can't not target a rocket launch pad shooting at your houses because Hamas built it on a house or school. It's on Hamas

Not meaning to play devil's advocate here, because Israel is trying to commit genocide and MUST be stopped, but they are just copy pasta the USA after 9/11. The USA went into Iraq and Afghanistan, both of which had nothing to do with alqueda (Taliban is not alqueda), and directly/indirectly lead to the deaths of 1.7 million Iraqis and Afghanis. And somehow the USA made weapons deals with the country (Saudi Arabia) that funded and trained the 9/11 attackers. So the Israeli logic is "if the US 1/
KarateCanine
Can do it, so can we". So the US should not be the calming actor in this situation because they went on a 20 year war of revenge, killed millions and lead to the rise of isis and destabilized the entire region for the next century likely.

I see the supporters of murdering civilians and of genocide are out in force today.
Mshopshop
The USA does not calming the situation by any way, how it can be possible when It supports Israel, financially, politically and supplying with wea.pons. it does not look like calming the situation at all.
fitgirl1
Um how about Isreal stop committing war crimes and stealing land from Palestinians. And the US evangelicals obsession with trying to bring about the end times isn't helping
edasm
Canaan anyone?
SirSmurfalot
There was no Palestine to start with, and all of those map changes were the result of Israel being attacked and taking territory from the attackers.
TinyBadger101
You missed the bit about how Jews were promised the entire area of Transjordan, and the UN split it so that 75% of the land became a Palestinian nation (Jordan) and 55% of the remaining 25% became Israel. Then Israel was invaded by 7 nations in a war for survival and took the other 45% (not including West Bank or Gaza) to have a contiguous nation. Then invaded again in '50s, '60', and '70s. In 1967 Israel took West Bank and then things got bad. 1/*
TinyBadger101
Israel had 3 choices. 1) Let West Bank be independent nation, 2) fully incorporate West Bank and have all ppl living there as new citizens, 3) occupy West Bank territory. Israel picked #3 which was the worst option. Then over time they have stolen a lot of land with illegal settlements, not saying Israel is blameless here, but there is a lot of history that you are covering up with your oversimplified diagram. 2/2
