They keep calling it a "flood" but I don't think that word does it justice. It's really more of a "massive landslide" IMHO.

Is this the Nepal flood? A glacial dam broke and emptied an entire lake into the valley below.

Yes

Maybe he thought he might die but the video may survive, so he is making sure it's known he was there for possible identification later

Gotta get that selfie in there.

"Running" for his life? And filming in vertical....

3 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Holy shit, man. Survival skills of a potato.

The notoriously surviving vegetable?

3 days ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I don't know how many potatoes you think survived that. I'll give you a non-zero chance. That's about it.

Nepal. Yesterday. Death toll rising.

Did a dam burst? Or a landslide?

3 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Piece of glacier broke off, which caused a natural dam to break.

Terrifying and unpredictable. I'm so sorry for the people and their families

I worry about the surface they're on, it looks like it could slip and slide away as it's lower parts are washed away. Very scary day.

Some real LotR energy in that water. Arwen is pissed.

Cameraman never dies. They were in save hands.

3 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Seeing some shit like that coming I would run so fast I could pass Usain Bolt!

3 days ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 2

95 % of all man think they could match Usain Bolt in speed where only 3 % of woman are of that assumption...Both will likely die!

3 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Oh. The decision to run over that bridge was NOT good :/

3 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dude in last place's shoelace was untied. He could trip and hurt himself.

3 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Least of his concerns given the situation I think

3 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Decisions decisions: save my life, or capture the video?

3 days ago | Likes 145 Dislikes 3

Right!?
If you MUST film - hold the camera above your head, facing backwards while you haul ass.
Sure, you might not get a magazine-worthy shot but you'll have a better chance of surviving...

Cameraman never dies

Robert Landsburg gave his life to protect the shots of the Mt St Hellens eruption as his final act on earth

Take a selfie, risk drowning.

One person ran across the bridge the other way. I hope they made it.

3 days ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I wonder if they had a car or friend/family over there they worried about? You can't see much about the other side in that video but it seems the wrong choice.

2 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If your first thought is run horizontally.....I would only climb vertically when seeing the Nazguhl in the stream....

This is the first video of the tragedy that I watch with sound on (I don't know if the others have sound or not) and holy crap, by the noise it makes, you can sense the amount of brute force of that mass of water and debris basically destroying everything in its path.

Reportedly the earthquake detected in conjunction with this (and for a short while suspected as a cause) was not an earthquake but the water, it's collisions and noise shaking the region.

Which is why they won't find most of the missing. Just... Nothing left

3 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The cameraman could've just walked backwards & filmed the entire event but instead thought only of himself & ran up the hill.

3 days ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Smartest thing he did was thinking only of himself and GTFO

3 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Did you think that was went to be serious ?

Around here lately, it's hard to tell.
