Cat tax

#23 I was reading the most awful webserial where about 90% of the conflict would be resolved by the characters having an honest and open conversation. Infuriating.

#11 Used to be true maybe, but I've seen some of the newer Simpsons episodes and was struck by how incredibly mean-spirited and selfish Marge was in some of them. Felt like a completely different character.

#34 Because I'm so empathetic that being mean even to virtual people makes me feel bad.

#1 My cat would do this almost every night. I miss her.

#6 The desire for chonky buttons is widespread, that's why mechanical keyboards are sticking around so well.

#42 That would be amazing.

#25 when I started really hitting the gym my goal was to be able to lift, turn, and place a 5 gallon jug on a cooler in a slow clean motion one handed, I was hammer curling 100lbs before I reached that goal

#24 2 years late but I've really been debating getting my middle and ring finger tattooed between the first and second knuckle. Goddamnit this might be a sign.

At first I thought #40 was going to be about the new dog learning house rules from the blind dog, but not understanding the blind dog can't see

#15 "No more shall man have wings to bear him to paradise. Henceforth, he shall walk" Final Fantasy 14. Followed by some the greatest piece of art I have ever seen.

#42 We need more third spaces that don't require money to use

2 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

We have to take care of the homeless problem before that happens, because if options like that exist, homeless people will definitely occupy it (and you can't blame them).

#1 I don't mind this version. It's when he lays directly on top of me in the middle of summer that I have to reposition him. Otherwise I'll die of heatstroke before morning lol.

It's the Kiss of Death when it's your cat & you know if you even twitch, you'll get a pissed-off mrrph, then an intentionally heavy landing on the floor before they stalk off.

#5 To offer advice blatantly stolen from Matt Stone and Trey Parker (South Park): Use the process of: And therefore; OR But; to link elements of your story rather than having one scene happen, then another, without them being linked by consequence. For example: A happens then B then C then D gives you a narrative where the protag is on a ride. If instead: A happens therefore B happens, But C happens as a result, therefore D happens, the protag is engaged and affecting the story.

#28 Don't forget the part where the players are allowed to get away with things like rape and assault because the game is just that important. Podunk towns literally have the cops in on it

And then the former jocks become cops, keeping the cycle going.

Why are people so into watching children's sports?

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

...I coach girl's basketball. It'd be weird if I didn't. Many of those people are parents and they're there supporting their children. Also, it turns out a lot of kids like watching kids sports because those are their friends? And it's a place where you can hang out with said friends whilst watching your other friends? The majority of people watching children's sports are directly connected to those kids lives.

Not sure this is true for the mainstream. Boys hockey and football in Canada. True for the minor sports though.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It’s interesting when it’s your own kid - and sometimes fun to watch if you played the sport yourself. But caring so much (like in small towns for the football team) takes it to a weeeeird level.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I can answer that one with a question. Name a place in a small town where kids can hang out and be social together?

If it's a small town, the parents and students account for a majority of the people there. Even non-parents, there's nothing else going on but your niece, nephew, best friend's kid is there so why not?

Sex is sooo much better when fit. Youre hornier, can go longer, and the orgasm is much more intense when you have the muscles that do the convulsing strong and tight.

#11 Peggy is a good person; she's just annoying and egotistical. If that makes her a bad person, Hank should get some points knocked off for crapping on Bobby's interests.

It says good husband not father

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

in the early seasons she's nice, but misguided. As the series progressed, she got way more petty, egotistical, less aware of her own flaws, willing to take advantage of people, jealous.....

2 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I definitely HATED Peggy-centric episodes in the later run, because they flanderized the ever-loving shit out of her. Most of the other characters had some really neat growth - Peggy just spiraled into ever more ridiculous bouts of Dunning-Kruger.

I'm only on season 4 and I agree. Hank is also not the best husband to her by not paying attention to her physical/mental needs and isn't supportive other than with his salary. But it gives him room to grow, which I feel King of the hill does pretty well for their characters.

Linda is the absolute worst! I can't stand her. She causes most of their problems and is the dumbest character on the show

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

That's a fair point; she often makes things worse by not listening and doing her own thing.

Seems to me all those wives are decent enough, no better or worse than the husbands.

#10 “If you have found this note you must be engaged in demolishing one of the false columns that have been placed in the foyer of the Sainsbury Wing. I believe that the false columns are a mistake of the architect and that he would live to regret our accepting this detail of his design. Let it be known that one of the donors of this building is absolutely delighted that your generation has decided to dispense with the unnecessary columns.”

Back when rich people used to donate to museums and have swimming centres named after them instead of shitting up the planet and pretending to go to space.

#6 is why a significant chunk of my recording studio is analog gear, or one-knob-per-function synthesizers. The Prophet alone has 96 knobs or something silly and it’s my favorite synth, ever.

#26 as one of those students, maybe those instructions weren't as clear as you imagined...

Asking clarifying questions from not understating is different from goofing off or just what?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I mean that the teacher in my case was bad at explaining their assingments, repeating the bad explanation several times over didn't make it any clearer.
