Man has it been a wild three weeks. I haven't been sleeping, barely eating, depressed but still functional and have been putting in long hours at work. Well it's finally caught up, in the ER for intense abdominal pain. I believe it's kidney stones but not for sure just yet. This time of year just wrecks me every year. No family to spend holidays, work is always crazy, and seasonal depression hits hard. Could just use some fake internet points to get the dopamine flowing.

I'm sorry OP. Life can be so fucking unfair sometimes. I am rooting for you and truly hope you will get better soon! I believe in you!

Was just in the hospital for acute pancreatitis due to gallstones. Shit sucks. Dilaudid is your friend. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

I've been there. I get it. And, for what it's worth, it gets better. Keep your head up, OP.

Ugh I hope it isn't a kidney stone, those are awful. Ask the Dr if she/he knows the difference between a rectal and oral thermometer....

The taste. Get well soon

If seasonal darkness hits you hard, look at getting a high-intensity light to use during your morning coffee, helps me properly wake up.

If it's kidney stones, know that this too will pass.
Evillairforrent
It might hurt like a bitch. But it'll pass, yes

Here's hoping you have some sexy nurses (male female, whatever you like op)

Why not both .gif

I can be their sexy nurse. I'm a hairy bearded dude, but I'll wear heels, a skirt and everything

If it’s stones, get really good with your floor nurse. You’ll need those pain killers asap
sosogeekd
You don't need to suck up. Just don't be an asshole. I don't mind giving them around the clock but when patients set timers on their phone..
CatsOrExcited
The scary (might ruin your life) painkillers - I didn’t want to take them. Finally gave in - found out they don’t work on the “waves,” only
CatsOrExcited
2) the regular background pain. “Yeah, that’s normal” medical people said. Stuck with the regular painkiller after that. Be careful @op
AmbientSun
Unless you're me and they've got nothing in stock so you're sent home with paracetamol and good wishes. Passed that stone like a champ tho.
TheJudgeHasItBackwards
I passed a stone at home as well, but I did it like a little bitch baby crying and screaming on the floor. Now, I drink more water.

I am sorry. Reading that made me wince in pain on your behalf.

Being a kind and respectful human usually gets you the nursing dose too. Fingers crossed for a lithotripsy! Simple, speedy, and noninvasive.

This. When I had my stones, they gave me this "cocktail". Best I felt in YEARS. Well, until it wore off.

Hopefully it is just stones.

Yep. In June, I went to the ER three times in about a week with multiple stones. Pain kept coming back. Could barely do anything. Fun times.
Abersade
Mine literally did exactly that. I woke up in pain, tried to get to the bathroom twenty feet away, collapsed.
mikeatike
Gall stones sucked. But kidney stones made me think I was dying.
mikeatike
Worse, they desensitized me to the pain, when I waited a couple of days during the pandemic before going to the ER, they
mikeatike
sent me for a CT scan to verify. 5 minutes later a surgeon shows up and says "Ok it's your appendix, you're going in for surgery right NOW."
mikeatike
I nearly did because my about to burst appendix didn't hurt as bad as the kidney stones did.
krugger3000
I had an intestinal hernial for a year and when I finally had surgery, being friends with the nurse came in handy. Sweet sweet tramadol

Hang in there @op..it’s worth it. Ur worth it!

Good on you man. Keep on keeping on’ and work to change what and where you can. Fuck kidney stones and fuck all disease. Fight that shit!
InnocentValley
They usually say about therapy that it can get worse before it gets better. But the fact you're working on it will pay off for sure.
HelloThere1812
That's great! Most men are not willing to see a therapist so good on ya!
