I truly was trying to make a joke about how I would be very boring to watch. Video games are therapeutic for me and I won’t be streaming. I would rather not bring one of the last bastions of entertainment I have left into a monetized situation. That being said, such a positive response from so many of you! And those of you with experience! I greatly appreciate it!

Trust me when I say, people will watch nearly kind of content. Do not underestimate potential viewership. Way back in the early YT days, I remember stumbling on "weird" channels of Asian girls noisily eating food, and cats grooming each other. I wasn't the only one that found them mesmerizing and relaxing, either. ASMR exploded a decade ago, and is still one of the most popular YT content categories. You may not be able to monetize your content, but don't assume people won't watch.

As someone who, as I post this is getting ready for another 2-viewer-average, 4-hour-long, thrice a week stream... I understand the "no one watches, why bother" you're alluding to, first hand. We'll never be "300+ people watching, 100-subs-a-month" streamers, but honestly? you could find one or two people who also really enjoy a game you decided to stream and want to share nerding out about their fave game that you also enjoy, just because you decided to stream something.

Depends on the games and your playstyle. Games with great stories I prefer no commentary and absolutely no cam. It's like watching a movie.

I've thought about it myself, but idk if my PC is good enough, or that I would be engaging enough. Plus I play on laptop (don't judge me) and it would be hard to keep up with engagement without having 2 monitors

Same. I gave it a try and came to the decision that I'm boring as hell to watch because I'm full on ADD concentration mode and don't have the bandwidth to talk to people. Most of the views I got were on a vid I uploaded of how to do a somewhat challenging level that required some timing specific actions.

It’s popular with the generation that watched parents and older siblings play games. I like watching to check out new games to see actual gameplay. Otherwise I can’t stand it. People try too hard and keep rambling on to fill the silence. Most streamers are annoying.

There are a variety of reasons. Watching someone's skill as they get better or watching to learn so I get better. I like watching Forts tournaments for that reason. Or the person is really creative like building a city in Minecraft. It's also a good way to find new games. I've bought many of the games I've watched people play.

I get super silent when I play games. When playing duo with my bestie she will be like hey are you still there? Also my favorite thing to do is farm and thats what everyone cuts out of their youtube vids. Ages ago during a Rust raid, I ran out and farmed a node while we were attacking, my friends were like wtf are you doing??? I dunno just saw it and had to get it. My aim isn't great but I am a good lil worker bee haha
