I'm intersex, and this makes me happy.

I was born intersex. This means my private parts were a unholy mash up of boy parts and girl parts. I'm XXY. I was forced to undergo numerous surgeries to make my parts appear normal, and as an adult I have to take hornones. If I was given a choice, I would have declined the cosmetic surgeries, and only agree to the medically nessacary surgeries (like giving me a functional pee hole). I like this picture because I don't comfortably fit into a category. Today, I am dealing with the medical side of being intersex. My vagina is bleeding, but I don't have a uterus. I'm not sure why I'm bleeding. I can wait 2 weeks to see a specialist.. or go to a new doctor and spend 2 hours going over my medical hystory.. which they will probably just refer me to a specialist anyway. I'm angry at my body today. Most days I feel like a counterfeit female. I don't want anymore surgeries on my genitals. This picture, in this context, has nothing to do with GBLT. It has nothing to do with those special snowflakes that make up stupid gender labels. This picture represents how I feel like my body betrayed me. How I can't fit in. There are a lot of myths about intersex people. I'm just trying to excape my thoughts, forget that I'm a deformed loser, and hopefully I don't bleed to death while I wait for my doctor to come back from his Maui vacation.

Edit!! HOLY CATS, IMGUR!! I had no idea this post would get so much attention. I have been really down on myself today. Thank you all so much for the kind words, curious questions, silly GIFS, and wonderful personal stories. If I am still bleeding by the morning, I will be headed to the urgentcare. This bleeding thing has happened off and on for a few months and so far they have no idea what the cause is. The last time this happened they put silver nitrate into my vaginal canal. IT WAS HORRIBLE, and didnt fix the issue, apparently.

some common questions:
Q- do you have a partner/ what gender are you attracted to? A- I am bi/pansexual (whatever its called now.) My partner is Male.

Q- Can you have sex, or masturbate? A- sometimes i can have penetrating sex, and sometimes its too painful. I need lots of lube. I can climax (like a girl). Mostly I use a vibrator externally.

Q- What pronouns do you use? A- i use mostly neutral or feminine pronouns. I'm not offended if someone calls me a boy.

Q- do you take hormones? A- yes. i take estrogen.

Q- what do your genitals look like? A- if you squint, and turn down the lights it looks like a pussy.. I have had a lot of normalizing surgeries on my genitals starting when i was very young.

Q- are these kinds of surgeries common? A yes, very very common. I was born in the 80's and doctors preferred to do surgeries ASAP, and would tell parents to lie to their children about their intersex condition. Some dr's here (USA) still do this, but some are starting to follow the "wait and watch" rule of thumb.

Q- can you have babies? A- No, and thats ok.

Q- Do you have Klienfelter syndrome? A- No. I am moasic/chimea. Its very similar in expression, but has a completely different origin. In uturo, during the first trimester i had a twin. This twin fetus died and I absorbed it. I have other "classic" medical issues that go hand in hand with this. such as hearing loss, deformed bladder, deformed kidneys, seizures and heterochromia (two different colored eyes).

This is a great website if you are unfamiliar with the basics. http://www.isna.org/faq/what_is_intersex

Again, thank you everyone for helping me out of my self-bashing slump. You are all wonderful and I will update in a few days about the bleeding.

UPDATE! (caution, TMI alert)
I was able to see a new doctor, at the same clinic i usually go to. So they had my medical records, and sort of knew about my saga. looks like i have a keloid scar in my vaginal vault (counterfeit vagina lol) that has tissue granulation along the edge of the scar. Last time I was bleeding it was because of granulation, and they applied silver nitrate to melt the tissue.. but my body did not heal well from that. Soon they will cauterize it with a lazer, the odds for this fixing everything are not great. If the lazer doesnt stop the bleeding, or if it makes the scar tissue much worse the last option is vaginal cuff revision. Vaginal cuff revision is a surgery that will remove all of the scar tissue, and most of the vaginal vault, luckily my partner has a small penis (im just joking honey! shhhh! stop crying.. you look fat when you cry) . Currently I am not allowed to have penetrating sex for 3 months.. that sucks. Thanks again for all the love and support, imgur. You are all awesome.

You are not a deformed loser.

@OP, this lion has a message for you

Intersex and trans folk have lots of overlap and lots of differences. One thing in common: your situation does NOT make you a loser.

9 years ago | Likes 306 Dislikes 3

Mystery pain and body betrayal suck, but "deformed" and "loser" are words depression tries to fuck you with. It's a shit-ass, lying....

Gosh damn. Thank you.

I know being trans isn't the same thing, but: " I feel like my body betrayed me. How I can't fit in." We know it too, and it sucks. *hugs*

9 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

I love my trans friends, the struggle is very similar.

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

I usually feel extremely awkward whenever I mention I'm trans to people when the subject comes up because I feel they'll think I'm just 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Doing it to act like a special snowflake, at least I don't act like an asshat about it unlike some people nowadays. 2/2

medical guy here. you are significant, your genetics are significant, and i apologize for the medical communities lack of knowledge about this

9 years ago | Likes 52 Dislikes 1

however, theres a massive pushback to any real research on this topic due to the political nature of it. and thats not fair to you.

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Thank you. When I go to a new Dr they always try to bring in the entire staff to watch the pelvic exam. It's unsettling.

9 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

Wow. This is something I never considered. As a F who has had a # of unique exams, I'm so sorry. Can't imagine having an audience.

My mom had two uterus's. They found out when I was born, c section. Tina of doctor's showed up to see. Fed up y mom shouted take a picture!

it's because we don't know much about individuals like you. youre special. you're well within your rights to request they all leave.

I'm use to it, and try to be helpful. Xanax helps me with pelvic exams.

You mentioned feeling like a counterfiet female, sepping back from that you're definately not a counterfiet human.

If it's any help, I was born female, and I had the same bleeding issue. It's exhausting and you get depressed from the blood loss AND.....

Dealing with asshole doctors. Eat a lot of dark leafy greens and get the liquid iron supplement from the healthfood store. Helps the feels..

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Also, call the doc, ask to speak to a nurse. Say you KNOW you gotta wait- but the blood loss has reached "x-number soaked pads per day"...

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

(That's how they measure blood loss from the pelvic region). Say you're concerned you're getting anemic, ask to come to lab for test.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Idk in your situation, but the rule w a uterus is if u go through more than 1 super tampon/hr for 6+ hours go to the ER. If u actually need

WE DO NOT TALK ABOUT FIGHT CLUB!!

Talk about what?

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Labels are a practical tool. Intersex is a label. Human is a label. Citizen is a label. Worker is a label.

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

The problems stems from people taking too much pride in labels or feeling inferior or made to feel inferior by others because of them.

What? Explain what snowflakes you speak of?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Special Snowflakes - individuals who make a big deal of a small issue OR "sympathize" with a real condition - with or without - the (1/2)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Involvement of those who ACTUALLY suffer, in order to get attention for themselves, not caring that 1) most dont give a crap and 2) the (2/

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Unwanted or painful attention it brings to those who are actually under affliction.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So in your eyes other trans folk who aren't genetically effected are snowflakes? Or the people that support them are?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yet people like you call them "snowflakes"... You think your labels excuses your hatred?

9 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 6

You perceive hatred because... I used a relative term to identify a group of individuals who make a scene over an issue to garner attention.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

Kinda sad that so many of the comments can't wish OP well without telling other people with gender and body issues to fuck off.

9 years ago | Likes 61 Dislikes 4

We are. There are people who think they are special snowflakes. They CAN fuck off. OPs situation is medically and scientifically an issue.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 15

I did say "We", though I don't mean to talk for everyone. IF there is a person who is Trans, I support them. If they are trans and 1/3

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 5

and in the process of changing, I support them. IF they have some medical situation, like OPs, and are intersex, I support them. HOWEVER 2/3

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 5

3/3 the people who demand special pronouns because they are "wolfkin" can rightly fuck off. They dilute serious situations like this.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 6

"Kins" aren't genders and I've never seen anyone say they are. That's a whole other mess that has nothing to do with non-binary genders.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It tends to be a muddled mess of circlejerking and being upset about how it's trivialized and then actual hatred

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Remember your body is essentially just a car for your brain. Your beautiful, wonderful brain. Much love to you OP.

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I don't think you're a loser. I bet you have a strong soul.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I saw a documentary once where intersex people were interviewed and every single one regretted that their parents opted for their surgery.

As far as I've understood it, it's mixed gender as opposed to mixed sex. OP is mixed sex and probably mixed gender veering towards woman.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

Mhmm. This is also why I don't upvote those "various anti-50-gender posts" I see around here.

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Its funny watching imgur making excuses for the anti-trans hatred filling this site, calling them "snowflakes" and blaming tumblr.

9 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 7

I mean, Tumblr doesn't help matters though. If your only exposure is through Tumblr, that's going to ruin your perception of things.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

This @op (and also the comment below)

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

This completely. There's a big difference between made up problems and real issues. You seem to have overcome yours with grace.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 12

What does this have to do with multiple genders? Those nonbinary/genderfuck//invisigender concepts have nothing to with trans and intersex

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 14

Pity a bunch of people are already jumping into the comments to be dicks about trans people.

9 years ago | Likes 57 Dislikes 2

I can't remember the last time I saw a transpositive post on imgur, to be fair. It's stupid that they're equating the two. They're stupid.

It's like the T in LGBT-- they get grouped together for external reasons and most people don't bother to learn the significant differences.

All the "it's a mental illness" comments we're all just supposed to guess it's against people deserving those comments. Incidentally, 1/2

Yeah, @OP! Glop from me, too!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Such kind words. Amazing how some people on here are so great to each other. I echo their words OP. Hang in

9 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

But they kind of are. When non binary people are derided as snowflakes or people yell "THERE ARE ONLY TWO GENDERS", it makes lives harder.

9 years ago | Likes 82 Dislikes 10

iColud go both ways. People declaring their "intersex" when they have gender identity concerns detract from the concerns for people like OP

9 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 26

There's no need for people to feel special, or even to label themselves to society. There is a need for people like OP to feel supported--

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 8

the hate for "Special Snowflakes" does take away from that, but the "Special Snowflakes" can cause a more subtle problem. Really, EOTD-

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 7

we should all probably just be good enough to each other that words like "intersex" aren't needed for anything but medical problem solving.

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 4

We're disparaging 19 year olds that dye their hair green and call themselves "intersex" without knowing what it means. It's all in good fun.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 19

What if the people you're mocking actually are intersex and just don't want to shove the details of their genitals in your face?

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

My comment describes a group that is unlikely to contain actual intersex people.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

People who are intersex don't dye their hair? I don't understand.

I've honestly always wondered why intersex is lumped in with lgbt, because it's very much medical.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

intersex people face legal/social challenges that heavily overlap with, but aren't perfectly aligned with us lgbt folks.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yeah but they lump in transgender and intersex people with that lot all the fucking time.

probably because i'm a little gay no matter what gender i smash with.

Yes. She did. I'm cis but my partner is non-binary. Her comment was clearly aimed at people who don't fit the binary, & it was insulting.

As far as pointing out her hurtful comment I think I'm being both tame and chill, thank you.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

You are. They don't get it.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It's hard to take your transphobic insult serious... when 2 of my besties are trans, as well as a love long gone. But, ok..

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 6

I feel "special snowflakes that make up stupid gender labels" isn't a fair thing to say. Cheers, hope you feel better.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 6

"I'm not racist, my best friend is black!" isn't valid and neither is saying you're not transphobic because your friends are trans.

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 5

Just because you only pointed at "special snowflakes" doesn't mean you weren't being transphobic towards tens of thousands (1/2)

To be fair this person has a medical condition. while trans people just dont like how other people see them

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 11

Gender dysphoria is a known medical condition...or am I missing something?

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

its a psychiatric disorder, not a medical condition.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 6

Not quite no, but I can see why you think that. You are aware that the manner in which male and female brains operate are different?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

so yes. but gender dysphoria really is a psychiatric disorder, at least its defined as one.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

not just operate, but are actually wired. ive never seen anything that suggest trans truly have the neurological wiring of the opposite sex

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

Most people here r cool with trans. Its the random made up genders people think r dumb

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 7

Gender is a social construct. It's all made up. What do you class as a "random made up gender"?

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

A male who wants to wear a dress is not a new gender. Dresses vs pants are no more relevant that wanting to drive a car v truck 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Most of the new genders have to do with clothing preference. Your article was noting that men and women are different 2/2

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Except that's very clearly about the biological differences between sexes, not genders. What's your point?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I'm sorry you have to deal with that. Imgur is a horrible community and your identity is valid <3

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 6

"your identity is valid" how benevolent of you to bestow validity upon this person, i'm sure it means a lot

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 7

Or maybe I'm trying to support them. Go fuck yourself

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

its a silly thing to say

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

It's something I know I wanted to hear when I was coming to terms with my bisexuality.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Plenty of upvoted anti-trans comments, patheticly trying to blame tumblr, but being ok with OP.

9 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 5

We do like Op. It's about the science of it. She is MEDICALLY and SCIENTIFICALLY intersex. What we don't like is anything ending in "-kin".

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 18

People shouldn't have to shove their genitals in your face to get validation from your pathetic ass.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

To avoid another argument, please see the OTHER people who argued with me, and then said, "I misunderstood." at the end.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Why do you care what people choose to identify as?

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

Me, personally? I dont care what they choose, I care what they request. Im not calling them zen or zer when their sex says otherwise.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 7

So your argument is against a couple of words? What about they or their?

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

As a funnier complaint- Dragons are fictitious, scaly, bad ass mf'ers who breathe fire. If "Dragonkin" can't do those, they aren't dragons.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

I don't think trans people should be lumped in with "-kin" people

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

I agree, but they are lumped in there (from my perspective). I've heard trans-wolf. Or LGBTQ - They are considered the "Queer" portion.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 5

No. I'm a bleeding heart liberal intersectional queer activist and just fucking no.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a trans person I can assure you I think "-kin" & the rest of tumblr is a bunch of bullshit and 99.9% of these tumblr fucktards are -

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The site is mostly fine with real/dysphoria transpeople, they just hate tumblr trans.

It's a reference to tumblr non-binary circlejerk similar to the trans cartman south park episode, not the proposed legislation in Texas.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 9

Its anti-trans circlejerk. Going on about "tumblr circlejerk" is a red herring to make it acceptable to hate them.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 3

So when feminists talk about redpillers it's a red herring to make it acceptable to hate men?

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 9

I mean, I don't think they understand that there's a difference, or that it's stupid hating on a group of people who feel a way

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I think most users understand the difference, but if you read the comments without also looking at the picture, it reads way worse.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

It's like saying "I'm not being racist when I say all niggers are dumb and lazy. I'm using that word like Chris Rock did in that bit of his"

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No it's like saying I hate the black lives matters protesters that burned off cars.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Actually i dislike when people make a big deal about it. I am fine when someone says i was born male bur want to be female.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No, this site uses the childish anti-tumblr bullshit as a way of getting away with their hatred towards lots of minorities.

9 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 6

Seems like a pretty loaded assumption, how do you deduce that it's not in fact just childish anti-tumblr circlejerk?

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 8

You are wrong. Just. Plain. Wrong. You know what you are to us? A username. Same vote as us, same rights.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 9

Looks like you're being downvoted by SJWs.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

yup, and that's Ok.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

While there are many sexiat and racist people, I definitely agrew that most people are annoyed by special snowflakes from tumblr.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Forgive me if this is rude, is hermaphrodite the same as intersex? Or is it considered rude, like using midget or dwarf for a little person?

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Slugs are hermaphrodites. True hermaphroditism, being sexually functional enough to be a mother or a father, cannot exist in humans.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

In was wondering same thing

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As far as I know it's an old term that's very offensive to use nowadays. But to clarify, yes it is the same as intersex.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

It's a current term, actually. It refers to organisms that only have one sex (which is "both"), such as slugs or worms.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's a current term to use for bith fully operational sex organs in other species. Does not apply to humans.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is in contrast to intersex, which is the condition of being "between" sexes.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also, why did hermaphrodite start becoming an offensive term? Is it just not accurate enough scientifically or is it purely social reasoning?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I found this, http://www.isna.org/node/16 from Intersex Soc of North America, seems like using it would akin to saying female hysteria.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

(meaning sexist and antiquated)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I believe it is a bit of both. Hermaphrodite more so means having both full sex organs while intersex is kind of in between or a 1

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

combination of the two. The world also has a negative connotation attached to it as do many traditional words that had been used 2

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

to describe medical disorders and such. (Retarded for example) 3
