He showed up in Bugonia, surprisingly an amazing performance, actually....he could have phoned it in, but had some very subtle nuances that added a great dimension
Fuckin nailed it. Too bad stand up comedians are the only ones brave enough to point out how fucked up and stupid things have gotten. This is the easiest platform for a functioning opposition party to take advantage of and NO ONE is doing it (on a national scale at least)
Right? Like, sure, if you ignore all the protests and all the politicians who have condemned ICE’s actions or called for investigations, sure, ASIDE FROM THAT, I guess it’s only the comedians.
That's the one! It's a bit of a bumpy start, but they find their groove within a few episodes.
There's some intellectual wit sprinkled in, but a lot of it is raunchy / immature / gallows style humor.
It's also got a lot of feel-good moments and character growth (albeit slower for Shane because the actors all kind of play themselves and he is a menace lol).
If you like that stuff, you'll probably like the show!
Agreed. S3 was incredible. Really surprised by a lot of the performances. Specifically this guy and Kayla. The ep where she confronts her old volleyball team… heartbreaking, feels absolutely real.
I'm in the auto industry, so even just the day to day crap is portrayed on brand.
The stress of slow months, changing vendors, and juggling employee well-being with customer satisfaction, all while being a small operation vulnerable to market volatility.
Ideas fail. Marketing fails. Success is a perpetual maybe. Having just one big thing or too many small things go wrong can easily put a shop in financial peril. They depict that instability very well.
He and ElephantGraveyard on YT are doing a very good job of kicking the feet out from underneath the 'comedy "assassins"' of the god-awful Austin Comedy Scene and the rest of the Rogansphere by.....*checks notes* doing actual comedy.
For those interested in the ElephantGraveyard videos I'm talking about, here are the links. They're each ~1.5hr but are very very very well made and worth the watch
I saw my first ElephantGraveyard video yesterday, now I have seen like 4 references to it. I'm glad it's getting super popular and calling out the racist absolutely terrible comedians like Tony Hinchcliffe.
I don't think Shane has ever wanted anything to do with the politics side of Rogans little club but has been drawn into it out of necessity from his association with fhem. IIRC he was on the podcast recently and was trying (not very hard and not very successfully) to illustrate to Joe how blatant some of the corruption has gotten
Shane Gillis, the guy who voted for Harris over Trump? That Shane Gillis? The one you guys love to claim is right wing when he's actually just funny and votes the exact same way you do? Cancel culture needs to fucking die already.
I mean, he is Rogans friend and has done Kill Tony numerous times. It's not outside of the realm of feasibility that someone who isn't familiar with him or his comedy would come to the conclusion that he thinks similarly to his compatriots.
I'm not saying he is, nobody here is saying any of the things you've said, which makes your outrage confusing. The only thing that was pointed out is that he is a good friend of Joe Rogan. If anything you should be asking why he still associates with them.
Hinchcliffe takes the stance that nobody should ever apologize for a joke, and that's fine, that's his right, I just don't know why he doesn't take the stance that jokes should be funny
"should be funny" that's the only thing that matters. You can joke about anything if the jokes lands and you get the laugh. If you don't you're just saying offensive shit.
He definitely has. His whole career is based on saying the most horrible shit, and he’s very successful. Gilbert Godfried joked about 9/11 the next day (or week or whatever); Norm told the only Steve Irwin death joke I have ever personally laughed at … that didn’t also rely on jokingly threatening to punch an unrelated stingray. Idk how trans people felt about it, but I thought Jim Jeffries had a funny trans joke (he talks about the surgery in the most obviously incorrect way, it cracks me up).
It’s hasn’t been true that comedians were attacked for what they were saying for 60-70 years. There was a time, back when The Doors were getting arrested for playing music and shit. Pretty sure Dangerfield was one of the comedians who was actually arrested for telling offensive jokes on stage. These guys get bitched at on twitter, and then get more money than ever before, and they’ve been canceled. JFC.

Stavros Halkias, has a fantastic podcast where he and some guest comedians will solve your life's problems for you.

Is he from that show where the dude was born without nipples, and his dad was sneaking in every night to give him hickies so he looked normal?

They made a show about that tweet?

I fucking love Stavy. Funny dude, great politics.

He's also in the Netflix series "Tires" which was a delightful show. The third season dropped recently and it did not disappoint!
It takes a couple episodes to find its rhythm, but it was great from there. If you like Stav, the show is pretty on brand for that same comedy style.
ontarioOT
That's the one with Shane Gillis?
I tried watching but quit after like 10 minutes. Maybe I'll try again.

Facts. Tony has literally never told a funny joke in his life, his show gets carried by Heidi's tits and Shane Gillis.
TemporarilyEmbarrassedThousandaire
Like, I know I'm not his target audience, I like comics who can make me laugh, it's a problem
azazyel
"should be funny" that's the only thing that matters. You can joke about anything if the jokes lands and you get the laugh. If you don't you're just saying offensive shit.

Saying offensive shit with the intent to be offensive.
That's one of the real issues, humor isn't the intent.
MostAwesomeDan
The only reason he has a comedy special is because they did enough Kill Tony shows to allow him to build up an hours worth of stolen jokes

Insane that a show where he does nothing but let 1st timers on stage so he can call them gay is so popular.....well not insane but sad

If anything brave of him to bring on a bunch of amateurs who despite being inexperienced still out shine him and show how talentless he is.
