We are heartbroken here in the USA for you, too. Notre Dame de Paris has been a favorite historical landmark of mine since I was a child.

Yes, lets dump several tonnes of water onto the already weakened and burning building.

I'm a Satanist but it hurts to see some thing so beautiful burn and part of old history

Loss of all the artwork, the iconic stained glass, the bells, and holy relics. It is gone forever, truly a heartbreak.

They did save a lot of the art and relics, apparently, but there's no way they didn't lose plenty, too.

Even if it's rebuilt it won't be the same. So much history up in smoke and probably because someone cut corners on the renovation.

Is . . . Is Quasimodo okay?

I've got a hunch that he wasn't there.

Police are looking for him. "Have you seen this man?" "Yeah, I think he rings a bell."

Nothing gold can stay.

C'est vraiment difficile à regarder. J'y étais au début de 2017 et je suis tombé amoureux de Paris, en particulier de ce bel immeuble.

I am devastated, i visited france last year and saw it in person, it is the most amazing building i have ever had the honor of seeing.

As a Pole, my heart is wrenching too. It's devastating for people appreciating beauty no matter of nationality or beliefs.

Nothing last forever. What does the future hold?

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's survived the French Revolution and WW2. It will be okay. Vive La France.

I was just singing that song from the hunchback this morning. :( Is everyone ok. Did everyone survive?

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Yes, so far no one has died, thankfully.

As a person who majored in art history, this is utterly soul crushing. No pun intended.

It's a church and my soul is crushed. Badumbum.

As an organist, I feel this.

Once the fire started, they started pulling out the artwork, so a lot should be saved, just not all. So some comfort can be had

My friend/coworker is our art teacher. I tore-ass down to her room to tell her. So glad they were able to remove art works and relics.
