I was there in 1982 and it was springtide. Signs said not to park on the sandbank next to the bridge at springtide. >

Wow that's a great story, they have shuttle buses that allow access to it now

I went there with my wife and infant this year! As is tradition, my son slept the entire time. I highly recommend good shoes and skin glide.

Shame your son missed out! Hope you enjoyed

He wouldn't have remembered anyways, and it made for hilarious photos.

This is old movie as there’s cars parked just outside island. Since 2014 that is not possible anymore due to removing road to the island! /2

I was there July 2022, some cars parked just outside the wall near the entrance, free busses from the parking lots

This is a change that was mire than 20y in the making and needed because the island was getting connected to mainland due to the road. /3

Besides many waterway changes today there is only a footbridge on poles making the island an island again!

Yeah just checked maps & saw parking. We went there many times but last time was around 2010. When they started the real work on new bridge

Thats interesting, I visited a few times within the month to get this shot, glad it had the bridge as very quick changing tide times

Did you also go to Mont-Dol? That is an ‘old’ island similar to Saint Michel but already ‘eaten’ by the land.

Also huge menhir (Champ-Dolent) just 2 miles SE of Mont-Dol.
