Pachycephalosaurus [“Thick-headed lizard”] lived in Cretaceous’ North America 70-66 million years ago. Its estimated length was ca 4.5 m (15 ft) with a weight of 370-450 kg (820-990 lb). The skull reached a thickness of 22 cm or 8.7 in, and though for a time questioned signs point to it being used for head-butting.

So now I’m contemplating a whole new generation of humans: Homo pachycephalosapiens.
In fact, I’m pretty sure there’s an excellent example currently occupying the White House with others supporting him.

This is the most oddly specific thing on my feed but honestly I'm all for it.

#5 if pachy's are herbivores.... then why were they trying to kill ( or possibly eat ) Sarah ??

#8 I fucking loved Dino-Riders. I wanted the T-Rex so bad but we were poor as fuck.

I love how the dino survival game genre has also collectively decided that Pachy should just be an absolute little shit. Knockbacks, bone breaks, just go attack literally everything and anything and embrace your inner troublemaker/headbutter.

Do you have any thoughts on the pokemon Cranidos?

I thought the headbutting hypothesis had been discounted because the bone in the cranium was too thin and would break? Could easily be thinking of another dinosaur though. Great memes, either way!
Ngugi
It was proposed both the thickness of the skull and the shape of the neck would be unsuited for ramming, aye, however wounds later detected on skulls again have suggested Pachys used to butt heads - meaning simply the matter is up for debate once more (as so much else, hehe); in summary https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pachycephalosaurus#Dome_function

Do you play "The Isle", by any chance?

I played for a few years until 2023. Recently seen videos on YT which made it seem interesting again though (ie, far more dinosaur options in EVRIMA).

Isn't there some debate ongoing that many specimens of pachycephalosaurids (like some dracorex specimens) may actually be other life stages of pachycephalosaurs? Like I think I had heard the diagnostic specimen for the pachy may actually be a juvenile or young adult and the dracorex specimen is an adult (like how some compsagnathids are turning out to be baby tyrannosaurids).

Aye, there are a few theories which do not agree on which were species and which were different stages of a given species

It's been a fascinating story to watch. A lot more interesting than the "It's time for or biennial 'Everything we know about Spinosaurus is Wrong' expose" that happens every time a new fossil is found.
