What kind of steak is it, and how did you cook it?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

did you eat the whole asparagus?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

just with asparagus? ... decadent :D

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

AT LAST, a steak that's not fucking raw in the middle,.. this one is medium rare,.. COOKED but still slightly pink. Perfect! Hmmmmmm :)

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

Picture looks more of a medium slowly going to a medium well, could be the lighting though

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

100% agree with this, definitely not medium rare

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

no thanks. pagan

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What's that have to do with anything?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Up vote is from me. probably the only one your going to get.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It’s more than you got

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Your going to do me like this?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is relevant to my interests.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Reverse sear? They look it

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Do they though?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

yes, they do to me for sure. no grill marks and the coloration looks about right, mine are more seared when I make them, but similar

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yo @op what's your style of cook? I'm saying classic pan sear.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Mmmmm I don’t really know about styles. I just use unsalted batter garlic rosemary iron pan and reversed searing

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wait so you put the meat into the pan first and then second into the oven? If you did oven first then that's a reverse sear?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wish I could find some of those at the grocery store. People are buying up all the beef

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Look in the paper and buy from a local rancher. My moms farms business is way up.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There are some great CSAs and butchers that are losing business bc of restaurants, that I know are selling off meat.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nice meat! Lol

1" thick 'berta beef top sirloin, salt, pepper. Let sit 10-15 mins til room temp. Salt and pepper heavily. Grill at 400 4 mins total (1/2)

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

(2/2) flip each minute to get the good grill marks. Let sit for 2 mins. Down the hatch. Well? Pitter patter

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

@OP what cut of meat did you use?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

New your rib eye

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's not a cut of steak. Sounds like two different cuts combined. New York strip and a ribeye. You over cooked your steak so it's hard 1/

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

To tell if it's either one of those. Maybe a chuck roast?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah. That ain’t no NY Strip. I’ll just go with some sort of roast. Thanks.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I am so sad because I try to make steaks and I can’t. I’ve tried watching videos but I still screw it up!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Biggest tips: never cook cold, marinades are great for beginners, use a meat thermometer until you get used to temping, let rest at least 1/

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

ten minutes before serving, & cutting if possible. I like mine straight off the grill, otherwise a cast iron or grill pan are next best. 2/

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Get familiar w/ cuts & deals.Flat irons are my fav bc they're leaner, super tasty, & can be a decent price. Don't overthink. Steak's simple.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh, and when on the grill, get a nice sear on the hottest part, then let come to temp on the side so you don't end up with burnt & over rare

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also also, obvious but always cut against the grain, generally at a 45 degree angle so it's the most tender.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

... No need to cut it up like that. I'll take it as it comes of the pan, please and thank you.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For once it's not raw and red, thank you!

Why are people ALWAYS serving steak with asparagus? Do other vegetables not exist to steak enthusiasts? Is broccoli only for psychopaths?

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

Yes

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Its a cheap fancy vegetable, there's also brocolini and fiddlehead ferns, green beans with bacon and almonds are good too

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Green beans would be great for sure

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's not fancy if everyone does it every time, on as regular a basis as I keep seeing on imgur. They don't even vary how it's cooked much.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you're going to splurg on a steak and post it yeah, I'd say asparagus is twice the cost of your standard vegetable

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Expensive doesn't automatically mean fancy.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When its a base ingredient that everyone's generalized a price point on yeah it does in food

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Garlic sautéed broccolini or haricot verts are my favorite. Asparagus imo detracts from a good cut. But they also overcooked their steak so

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's classy! Mushrooms have a weird texture, broccoli is boring, spinach needs to mixed with other food. Green beans are good too.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

If you get Crimini mushrooms, which is all I ever buy these days, they dont have the weird texture. They are a meatier mushroom.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Today you can find it year-round, imported, but it used to be a vegetable that was only around for a short time - so it still gets treated

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

like a bit of a delicacy. It's the very start of the season for it right now, too.

But the standard is meat and a starch and a vegetable. So what's your veggie?

What about mushrooms?! They go together like butter n toast

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

I usually see people topping the steak with mushrooms and then still making the side asparagus.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Never got that either, creamed spinach is a far tastier and more classic steakhouse side.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Steamed broccoli, creamed spinach, sauteed zucchini, braised brussels, Southern green beans, chopped salad, succotash, soo many options!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean, I don't dislike asparagus at all, but it's ALWAYS with steak. And also almost always whole steamed stalks, the blandest way to do it

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think that might be a regional thing. I live in the Pacific Northwest and I have never heard of someone serving that with steak

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'd say it's mostly just because the old-guard steakhouses that serve it are older than the PNW lol
