My main interest are the pictures you carry around all the time ;) I'm old, don't be to harsh.

good for the person of the pic you know. but as someone that wish looked like she looked *before* it can be so....invalidating. And I know, she had a process and stuff. but you know... it is like being silent and sad and someone goes and yells I AM SILENT AND SAD and happens to be a nice looking person and everyone goes and gives em the help you wish you had...

I’m not sure I understand. How is my pain invalidating?

I'm old, and my opinion doesn't matter. I'm horrified by the number of young adults who are struggling to get to and stay at healthy weights. I'm greatly disturbed by the "at any size" or body-positive advocates as well. Lizzo was held up and used as an example by many in the community...but she lost significant weight. Youtubers in the community who swore they were healthy died before they hit 30. Lose the weight because you want the change, not because others will like you more.

I struggled for years with my weight. I was pudgy as a kid, graduating to fat in high school, pursuing further studies in obese in college, and starting a career in "oh lawd he comin'." Then I watched my wife's aunt, 52, 5'2", 150 lbs, suffer a heart attack, six way bypass, and never wake up. I dropped weight like a man pursued by the reaper, I saw my death and was terrified. Six months later I was a reasonable weight, and have fought to stay "normal." It's tough, though.

Everyone engages in some amount of external validation because we're social animals, but in the context of weight loss (and beauty standards) it's very fragile, and 100% a road to hell. I'd never tell you to ignore your personal standards, but please for the sake of your emotional and mental health don't in any way rely on how people treat you in this context as a reason to change.

I cut my calories to less than 1k a day it’s the only option. I’ll make myself miserable every day for people to see me and care. If I’m fat I’m even more overlooked

Here's the thing: How much people like you is far less important than how you like yourself.

True. Still, feels good.

And here I am spreading my hatred around the world and getting others' adoration for it... maybe I should directly experience my own reality.
