Yeah I remember the ice storm and we sent line men down to help bring power to northern states and people threw garbage and insults at the helpers as they were without power for extended periods of time while these people worked 15 hour days for a few weeks to stabilize the american grid. My cousin lives in a town near NYC. Her husband is a volunteer firefighter. He has had to respond to a bunch of false alarms the last few days due to people calling in saying they smelled smoke and though there was a house fire. I guess they never watch the news.

(Not that recent is accidental, which is why "to be fair" doesn't actually matter here. The reputation of having sent aid for decades is utterly negated by this kind of conduct and behaviour.)
